Posted - Dec 08 2007 : 7:55:29 PM I know this was posted a few months back and I am always interested to see what everyone posts:
1) I am ordering from catalogs like Lehman's, things from MJ's (of course), looking for organic and handmade/homemade. 2) Hoping Santa brings me my clothelines/racks for Christmas 3) Get excited over finding $1 cotton print cloth to make dresses 4) Santa is also bringing me my first farmgirl dress pattern.....
Tee hee hee!!!

Posted - Dec 28 2007 : 12:09:27 PM I love these! You know you're a farmgirl when one of the first big decisions of the day is whether to wear the same apron as you're worn for the past three days, even though it's just a "little" bit dirty, or wear that nice pretty clean one that was supposed to be for Saturday...(I'm writing this as I'm wearing that nice clean pretty one!!!)
XOXO, Libbie

Lol!! Well....if I have to be a junkie of a sort, it's better in collecting than in anything that would really do me harm.

Posted - Dec 21 2007 : 07:11:53 AM also: 1. finding something at the Salvation Army store and love it because of the style not necessarily the money savings 2. don't mind cleaning off the dirt of a Salvation Army toy to wrap for Christmas....my kid will think it's new! and this IS about the money savings

Posted - Dec 21 2007 : 07:09:11 AM I can relate to the pure satisfaction of making something by hand... I make quilts, purses, dolls, tablecloths, aprons, etc. :-) 1. love the smell of damp dirt! 2. enjoy pruning plants by hand while smelling the dirt 3. love the smell of laundry on the clothsline (or drying rack when it's raining) 4. happy to have my clothspin holder to get sunbleached and wore out...gives me an excuse to make a new one!

Posted - Dec 20 2007 : 8:03:33 PM You know you're a farmgirl when:
1. The idea of sitting on your porch with a cup of coffee in the Fall sounds more appealing than going out to dinner
2. Getting dirty outside is FUN!
3. Helping your hubby and getting dirty is even BETTER!
4. You find pure satifaction in taking weeks making something that you could probably buy in a store in a matter of minutes.
5. You have needlework "battlescars" and are proud to show them off! lol

What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!

And you have it covered in a pretty farming toile so that the cover doesn't get ruined.....
and it may have even been a gift from another farmgirl ;)

Posted - Dec 20 2007 : 10:39:13 AM You know you're a farmgirl when...
...you go to put on boots that haven't been worn since last winter, and they have cat food inside them! (Yep, happened to me this weekend--mice!)
...there's a draw for prizes at a local trade show, and all the women want the half load of gravel (Yep, happened this spring!)

Posted - Dec 13 2007 : 3:00:52 PM Ok Girls, I am loving it. It's the small things in life isn't it. I had to pull an extra 4 hour shift yesterday that is not very appealling to me with the gas prices as the hospital is 50 miles one way. However I knew I could go right around the corner and check out the Goodwill and I came away smiling at my finds: Levi's (womens) for grandaughter perfect shape you know the low rise flares.. a sheet,, pair pillowcases,,,, tights for other gd,,, pottery bowl ME,, a brand new scrub top for $3.50 can't beat it,,,,a top ME,,,, and about 6 sweaters to make mittens for my coworkers they are looking good!,,, oh and hair barrettes brand new really cute farmgirlish for my farmgirl ponytail............ all for <$40 us farmgirls are so thrifty.
Keep em coming! I have to run to the drugstore for my cherries in the snow and some for gifts for my farmgirls too.

Posted - Dec 12 2007 : 3:29:05 PM 1. you'd rather be wearing a homemade apron than a evening gown 2. boots with pig poo on them instead of heels 3. soap and water IS your cologne 4. you dont mind when your guy pees outside cuz it means you don't have to put the lid down Again! 5. Best of all, if you could do it all over, you'd never have left the farm in the first place!

Posted - Dec 11 2007 : 4:31:17 PM I know I'm a farmgirl cause instead of spending extra cash on clothes or makeup, I am spending it on things like extra pine shavings for my BEAUTIFUL nubians for special bedding, ignored the cashiers funny look when I bought 5 boxes of Arm & Hammer Washing Soda, & am growing ever more impatient that hubby's pick up is on the fritz cause I can't get those landscape timbers transported I need to make more raised beds.. & of course cause I love MaryJane's site better than any other... |
