It always makes me wonder, what is behind the screen names people choose. I guess a name such as, sex69, is pretty obvious :)
Why have you sisters chosen what you have?
Why dont we use our real names?

For me: I am happy and bubbly type person. Also so a Pieces, so, fish and bubbles.

My screen name always draws this question & I meant to explain it in my intro post...

Someone once jokingly called me the Sanctuary Goddess, and my then-husband quipped "no, she's the sanctuary WITCH!" Soon after, I lost the husband, but kept the name. It fits, since my spiritual views tend toward the pagan...

I chose Utah Farmgirl because I live in Utah and am a Farmgirl at heart. Fairly straightforward. I usually use "Petreader" which is my website. I've been a pet psychic for 30 years. But Patricia, which is my name, is fine, too. My family calls me Patty and my husband calls me Baby Boo which is pretty funny since we're old (late 50s). I really enjoy reading the origins of screen names. Glad you asked!

Happy Wishes!
blanket of stars Posted - Sep 12 2005 : 7:59:33 PM
I was re-reading "Nora's Stars" - a children's book, that always makes me smile, she hides the stars in her blanket, and then the sky is dark so she heaves them back into the sky......then I remembered the joy of the night sky when it's REALLY dark and the stars are twinkling. Unfortunately, in NH it usually means it's 20 below! The colder the weather, the more beautiful the stars.

Heather, If you're going yet this year, Old World closes on Oct 31st. I don't have the schedule with me, I'm on my Mom's computer, but I'll get back to you because they have a halloween thing for the kids. Once you go, you'll get hooked. Jan

Oh, Jan, that's just outside of Kettle Moraine, isn't it?? My husband and his best friend bike at Kettle a couple times a year...maybe I can tag along & take my kids to Old World while they're riding! Oooh, how cool! I absolutely LOVE living history museums like this...there's one not too far from us, in Aurora, IL, called Blackberry Farm. It's a Pioneer era museum, and sooo much fun!

Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention, Jan! I don't know if I ever would have known about it otherwise!

I just read these posts for the first time tonight, so funny how everybody chose their names, lovin it!! I used to be Lareynadetodo which translated (loosely) is queen of EVERYTHING, figgered out fast that wasn't true so have been LareynadeNADA for a long time (Queen of NOTHING) Figured if my three daughters were the princesses they think they are then I MUST be queen

I was Country before Country was COOL!!!!

owwlady is because I've worked out at Old World Wisconsin for six years. Old World is one of the nation's largest outdoor museums of immigrant farm life in the 1800's. I dress as a lady of the 1800's, sometimes a bustle dress, sometimes a work dress and apron, and sometimes a hoop dress, and work in one of the historic buildings greeting and informing visitors about life in the 1800's. We work in 3rd person so I can relate to things from this time period. It's a great job (except on 95 degree horribly humid days). I love dressing up and working with artifacts. We cook on authentic woodstoves, make soap, spin, and do what the ladies of the day would do in their everyday lives. Couldn't work there this year because of the gas prices. I live an hour away and being paid by the state historical society doesn't mean a whole lot. If you're ever in SE WI May 1-Oct 31, look us up. We're in Eagle WI.

ladybugsmom6 Posted - Sep 06 2005 : 7:57:32 PM
I chose mine cuz everyone who knows me knows that I call my crew the ladybugs... that started 5 yrs ago when there were only 4 baby ladies in the house, I hated calling kids or their names, so I called them ladies, I expected them to act like ladies in public and it was a nice gentle reminder to them... well I got quite some looks in stores shopping around other women and I commanded the ladies to "go!". So I figured they were sometimes ladies and sometimes bugs and ladybugs were once concidered lucky!(until the asian beetle arrived!) So they are my Ladybugs, I am the mom, so LadybugsMom stuck at chuch and such and here that didnt work with out the 6 cuz I have 6 now...How will I change that to 7 in March??

prairiemaid Posted - Aug 19 2005 : 07:35:30 AM
The prairie is a big part of who I am. I hadn't really thought about what it means to be close to the land until one year we took a family vacation in the mountains. It was very beautiful!!!! And a wonderful place to visit but my soul was happy and relieved to finally feast my eyes on the open prairie as we made our way home. I realized then that the prairie will always be in my heart and where I feel the most at home. "maid" is just because I work so hard, I guess. LOL! Our farm is also called Prairie-Made.

Call me old fashioned.
showmemom Posted - Aug 19 2005 : 06:25:37 AM
wow-this has been a fun thread to read this am!

i am showmemom because the motto of my state (MO) is "show me"; the theory being that we are more of an action oriented, results based people-don't just talk to me, show me what you're made of. I'm going through lots of changes in my life and am looking for wisdom from women who have been where i am or can guide me on a path i may have not considered before now.

and the mom part-i have 4 children of my body and 2 of my heart and lots of "part-time" children, kids who call me mom. Of all the things i am i think mom is probably the most important.

hey marlyn-my soon-to-be married daughter told me last week that they are naming their first daughter (what faith!) Marlee-a combination of my mom's name (Martha) and my middle name (Lee-i think your parents were cool!

talk to you soon.

Mine is just self explanetory..LOL.. well my other email name is monkeysocks, which is because of my fetish for sock monkeys! But I get alot of computer generated porno mail directed to monkeysex, so I decided for MJ's sake to go for the Farm Femmes signature.
CityCat Posted - Aug 18 2005 : 6:44:54 PM
It has been a lot of fun ready this topic!

Most times when I'm online I go by the nickname Etenax, but I thought it would be too geeky here. (E. tenax is the scientific name of a flower fly. I'm an insect geek). I wanted to come up with something with alliteration and flow. Maybe my first choice of GuelphGirl would have been better, but I like CityCat. I'm a big city girl, street-smart and a bit sassy. The cat part is short for my name, but also very descriptive of me. I'm most definitely a cat at heart. And I thought it would invoke a tweeked version of Country Mouse, City Mouse...

Mine isn't creative either. Just my initials. And I enjoyed being called "PJ" when I was younger, so maybe it's my return to my youth. My initials stayed the same when I married, which was convenient ... :)

Oh..This is sooo interesting. I also wondered the stories behind your names...I chose my name because I want to be a herb lady..I go to a couple of ladies houses in the spring and falls for "shows" and they sell plants, etc..I always describe them as the "herb ladies" although they dont call themselves that..at least I dont think so...Anyway-I want to "be just like them when I grow up"..meaning, I want my own business someday and my main interest is herbs...So-after talking to my sister in Idaho Falls Idaho-who introduced me to this site and MaryJanes book...she said "You've always wanted to be "The Herb Lady" and now is your chance...Thanks for the opportunity!!

Hi!
I'm totally a Newbie, so this is very cool to read. I actually came up with mine, when I read the signature of Handmaiden's in the Welcome Wagon, before I registered. The "Faith shall finish all that Hope begins" Psalm 138 popped By His Grace into my mind, and through my fingers to the keys I became.

Helen, thank you!..the question we have all asked in our minds so many times. Some of the responses made me get teary-eyed...whata sweet group of women. kathy, i love your quote and i'm sure yours does..what a great reminder for us all. eileen, truly, nothing like a songbird. sher, my daughter's nick name is happy heart b/c she is... always. lorij, always wondered how many in your "bunch". now i know! WOW! the more the merrier. marlyn, as my daughter sez',"weird in a good way"! my children always played the name game and would say everyones name backwards. they laughed at me b/c i would always have to write it down first to figure it out.

almost forgot...the handmaiden...was the name of a craft business i had when my children were babies and i stayed home. i made crafts and sold them at the flea markets. A friend told me about being a "handmaiden of the Lord" and i wanted my heart & my service to be a reflection of that. i had also always collected hands and hearts so it all just fit.from what it sounds like to me tho' it fits you all too, loving hands and warm hearts...all!!!

greyghost Posted - Aug 09 2005 : 4:59:44 PM
I'm greyghost because my nickname is Grey. The "Ghost" part came in while watching a Batman episode about Bruce Wayne's childhood hero, the Grey Ghost. I liked it as a subtle reminder of my favorite comic, and also because the Grey Ghost's character fought bad guys (I've had to fight a few bad guys). I use it on nearly all the forums I belong to, if I'm not greyghost I'm just "grey."
Photobugs Posted - Aug 08 2005 : 9:54:13 PM
I am Photobugs because I love to photograph. Back when I first got on the Internet and I wanted to use Shutterbug, but it was already taken. Hence 'Photo.' The bugs part was to include my gang at home. Not that they were bugs, but as part of shutterbug the bugs (with an 's') seemed like a good fit.

Hello,
I'm so glad you asked. I am finding this so interesting and satisfying my own curiosity, too.

My given name is Lynda and I go by Farrarfarmgirl because that's what I want to be. Farrar is the name of the little tiny town that my husband is from and where the farm is located. One of these years we will be living there, God-willing, and it is our dream to make our efforts productive and to enjoy the life it will bring us. My husband grew up on this land and I lived there a short while, but 18 years ago I had to move away from it however my heart has never left.

So this forum is a wealth of information for me and our future endeavors, but more importantly a bond that keeps me focussed on our dream.

In His hands,
Lynda

Pray in faith and you will not live in doubt.
