Posted - May 18 2007 : 11:31:36 AM I saw this in the paper. I told a friend ever older than I am---way older. and she said , 'so true so true' as she was getting ready to go on a cruise. In the dim and distant past when life's tempo wasn't so fast, Gramma used to rock and knit, crochet, tat and baby sit. When the kids were in a jam, they could always count on Gram. but today she's in the gym-exercising to keep slim. She's checking the web or surfing the net. Sending some E-mail or placing a bet. Nothing seems to stop or block her, Now that Gramma's off the rocker.
I know-Iknow---we still do all the other too. whew!!

Posted - May 18 2007 : 6:50:50 PM Oh, Mikki Jo, what a great memory!
My mom is nothing like my grandma. My grandma didn't sit in a rocker, but she did have her grandkids over and we sure enjoyed time with her. My kids don't like being sent to my mom's because she just doesn't allow them to be kids. Sad.

Posted - May 18 2007 : 4:56:59 PM My grandma used to run and play with me and my older brother. She'd fill up dishwashing liquid bottles and that was our squirt guns. When I was young she had a bad bout with diabetes. She had to have her toes cut off and was a blessing from God that she didn't lose her leg too. My brother and I are the only of her grandkids that remember her when she was "off her rocker", lol. She was a cool grandma for way back then I must say. Even after she got sick, she was still an awesome grandma. I miss her terribly and think of her often.

Posted - May 18 2007 : 2:41:46 PM I clean for a woman who has a sign in her kitchen that says, "If I knew being a granma was this much fun....I'd a had em first!" I have a lot of fun with Brody and my other daughter is going to have a baby boy in July. We just love our boys! Susan |

Posted - May 18 2007 : 2:36:50 PM Well, I can't wait to play with my grandkids. (they are coming tomorrow and staying for a two week visit) and while they are here Grammy and Grandpa are gonna renew their wedding vows. We were young parents and are young grandparents I guess but I want to run and play with them so they will remember that I did things with them besides sit and rock. I do love sewing and handwork though and maybe I will get the opportunity to teach them those things.

Posted - May 18 2007 : 12:44:08 PM I don't want to be a Grandma that sits in a rocker. I'll be running and having fun with my grandkids until I can't get around anymore! But I still knit, sew, and babysit!
