Posted - Mar 31 2007 : 2:37:17 PM we surrounded the planted area with a bit of landscape edging, weed blocked the area where the vines would be, then mulched lightly with a cypress mulch..this keeps the weeds down. This will be about the 5th yr with grapes..grant it we don't have very many vines..but we expect to see more grapes this year. I wound up with a large bowl full last year, this year I plan on making grape jelly. If your grapes start budding out this year , you should see at least a small crop of grapes by September.

Posted - Mar 31 2007 : 10:13:46 AM Fabulous! I'm picking up a bunch of starts (I'm almost afraid how many) today from a friend. This was perfectly timed advice. I'll be out digging holes all weekend and grinning. Vinyard here we go!

Posted - Mar 31 2007 : 08:02:58 AM we have grapes and what we did was simply drive two big wooden posts into the ground, about 5 feet apart( make sure the posts aren't warped)then we attached eye bolts about every foot and a half up the posts, then attached heavy duty wire to the eye bolts. It works very well.
