I need to get mine up off the ground before it starts growing like mad again. It needs to be free standing.

we have grapes and what we did was simply drive two big wooden posts into the ground, about 5 feet apart( make sure the posts aren't warped)then we attached eye bolts about every foot and a half up the posts, then attached heavy duty wire to the eye bolts. It works very well.

Fabulous! I'm picking up a bunch of starts (I'm almost afraid how many) today from a friend. This was perfectly timed advice. I'll be out digging holes all weekend and grinning. Vinyard here we go!

We make a difference.

we surrounded the planted area with a bit of landscape edging, weed blocked the area where the vines would be, then mulched lightly with a cypress mulch..this keeps the weeds down.
This will be about the 5th yr with grapes..grant it we don't have very many vines..but we expect to see more grapes this year. I wound up with a large bowl full last year, this year I plan on making grape jelly. If your grapes start budding out this year , you should see at least a small crop of grapes by September.
