Posted - Jul 13 2013 : 05:55:37 AM I agree on the weeds and seeds bit. I do not put meat or leftover grease in the compost. Here, I end up giving much of my leftovers to our goats, and most of my coffee grounds and egg shells go in my gardens too.

Posted - Jul 07 2013 : 03:18:22 AM Weeds are fine as long as they have not gone to seed ... most everything goes into my compost. I never let my weeds go to seed, and If I can't mow them, then I use a non electric weed wacker. Weeds and a pasture do not mix. Here is some good info for you http://www.mnn.com/lifestyle/recycling/stories/30-things-you-should-never-compost-or-recycle

Posted - Jul 06 2013 : 9:32:12 PM I put leaves, fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds and weeds that haven't gone to seed in my garden pile. Occasionally a bag of grass clippings that are pesticide free too although we grasscycle now so rarely overfill the recycle bin anymore.

Posted - Jul 06 2013 : 6:26:03 PM I've never composted for gardening (my compostables go in the manure storage for our cows then hauled on the fields) but I would say yes put the cabbage in and the weeds. Weeds have some of the best nutrients in them. If they're not full of seeds it will help your compost! Heather
