This evening me and my hubby cut a lot of stalks off the onion top plants. We just finished cutting them and bagging them. We have 23 quart bags of chopped onion tops ready to go in the freezer. The whole house smells like onion tops. LOL

Yum! How far are you from Chattanooga? I want to come to dinner! I have always wanted to go to a low country boil and just pig out. And have gumbo and jambalaya and corn on the cob and crawfish and shrimp. Oh my, I am making me hungry. I love the good music in Louisiana too. So fun.

I love to add onion tops in with the eggs when I scramble them. When I cook a gumbo, I always, always add lots of onion tops. Shrimp stew with onion tops is so good, and just before serving, sprinkle a few raw onion tops on top of the rice and stew.

I was thinking about doing the same and using them in soups and stir fries this winter. What do other people like to use green onions for?

Shelia - there is a 6 yo girl that comes to the farmers market with her mom and loves to buy onions and eat them whole and raw! So funny!

I just got 3 bunches from the farmer's market yesterday. I used most of the green but threw the rest in the compost. What do ya'll do with frozen onion tops?
