Posted - Apr 18 2010 : 8:02:18 PM Hey girls :)
I noticed that my chives are starting to blossom. Is it too early? Here in SW Colorado our growing season is shorter and we don't start planting until after Memorial Day for fear of frost. We had our last snow about 2 weeks ago.
Should I remove the blossoms? This is my first time having chives.

Julia,
What kind of vinegar do you use as a base? White or White Wine? Or Red Wine?

Posted - Apr 21 2010 : 08:14:54 AM Vinegar sounds like a great idea.
I love mixing mine with sour cream for baked potatoes and the like.
I just cut mine back.
What other herbs are you growing?

Posted - Apr 20 2010 : 2:29:22 PM I like to take the blossoms and make vinegar. It makes a pretty color, and is wonderful in dressings and marinades.
