Posted - Sep 08 2005 : 09:58:00 AM I know it is generally advised to store your dried herbs in an amber airtight bottle. I was wondering if a tin would be okay? My neighbor goes through one of those International Delight Coffee tins a week. I thought with the plastic lid and all it might work, and making a label for the tin might be kind of fun! It would also permit the whole leaf of say, Basil, be stored inside rather than broken up.
Would a tin damage the dried leaf in any way? |

Posted - Sep 10 2005 : 10:26:45 PM I have even used ziplock bags with all the air squeezed out and stored in a cool dark cupboard. I like jars best just cause i like to use fun labels on them. Biggest thing is to make sure they are completly dry or they will mold.

Posted - Sep 08 2005 : 10:44:19 AM no..I have used tins alot...I say go for it..just make sure you can get the chocolate coffee smell out of all the tiny cracks and crevices (maybe a brush would help) so it dosn't effect the taste of the herbs.
