Well, these 2 old people, Ed and I, have entered the high tech?? world? We bought a new car on Wednesday. An electric Cadillac Optiq. Does anyone else in the henhouse have an electric car? I’m still a little apprehensive, everything is so new. LOL |

Congratulations on your new car. I'm afraid I'm no help -- I'm keeping my 2002 Jetta as along as I can. From being in my friend's new car I can see that I would not be able to manage all the new technology and still be able to keep my eyes on the road, although it looks like even that isn't necessary any more. |

I understand about all the new technology. This has the heads-up display so you see the speed limit and your speed on the windshield in front of you (I don't like this as much as my husband likes it), Alexa, and we won't be in gas stations. Now on a trip we will need to plan out the stops to charge up the batteries. LOL!
We will be testing this out in a couple weeks when we take a trip - we are thinking of going up to Colorado to visit a cousin of each of us up there. Then, between the trip to Jordan and Egypt and our December cruise we will go to Florida to visit Ed's son and maybe to Arizona to visit a high school friend of mine. Another high school friend of mine and her husband were here for a night earlier this month. They were on their way back to Florida after a 5000 mile trip in there EV car. They drove anout 250 miles each day and planned stops accordingly with charging the batteries. For us, that may take getting used to, because we usually drive 350-400 miles a day or more on long trips. |

Linda, it sounds like you are going to put that electric car to good use. We have aToyota Electric/hybrid car that has all the whistles and bells on it. I have only driven it twice because I am so used to driving my 2012 Toyota Prius. I find all that extra stuff a bit overwhelming and intimidating. My husband loves the car so that is all that really matters since he drives it all the time. The rest of your 2025 sounds quite busy with travel too. Enjoy! |

Same here, Winnie - I think Ed will drive it around town more than me, though it is very easy to drive. I like my 2017 Honda CRV. Ed also has a 2004 Honda CRV that he uses most of the time. LOL! Ed traded in his GMS Sierra Denali pickup on the Cadillac - it was his idea.
We drove up to Choctaw Casino Tuesday morning and came back this morning. I got a free room for both nights, so we tried out the car's charge % vs distance availability. We had 82% charge when we left and we got home this morning in time to go to the monthly free movie for seniors at a local theater; we saw the new How to Train Your Dragon. It was a good movie. Right now the car is down to 11% after driving over 225 miles. Ed is going to charge it back up to 80% overnight. He has a 220 plug in his shop/garage.
