I have been thinking about the coming year and would like some input from each of you.
What types of things would you like to see here as far as topics, swaps and what kind, what interests you that we can do or discuss to keep everyone involved?
I know there are times when we are busy but I'd really like to get us more connected with one another. So tell me where do your interests lie?

I enjoy when we do swaps within the henhouse. I don't always join if I know my travel schedule won't let me complete it.

What about a DIFY swap - Do It For Yourself? This would require no postage costs because we are making it for ourselves. For example -- Make a Valentine Tablerunner for yourself and then post pictures so everyone can see it. I often find I will make something for someone else in a swap and wish I'd made one for me. We might find some interesting patterns we'd like to try.

Maybe have a monthly recipe category for sharing favorite recipes: cookies, crock pot entrees, outdoor grilling, etc.

Learning how we all celebrate holidays is often interesting. Because our ancestral backgrounds are varied, sometimes how we celebrate is also very different.

I love all your ideas, Linda. I may or may not participate much in the coming months but want to do what I can.

Thank you, Judith! They were just some ramblings I thought of when I saw Denise's post.

I was trying to think of things that would require no postage, since the rates seem to skyrocket very quickly.

I agree with Linda here and her suggestions. The DIFY idea is very clever and something new. With postage going up again January 25, we are have to keep swaps simple and small to afford the costs. The days of big swaps are overt for many Farmgirls.

I’m glad some of you like the ideas I came up with last night. I was trying to think of a make it but keep it instead of a swap and DIFY just popped into my head. I was trying for low or no postage things.

Hopefully we will get lots of input so we have more than a few ideas for the new year here.

I understand about the cost of postage. Sometimes it so nice to receive just a piece of mail from a farmgirl. What about a postcard, it is less expensive.

I am adding these all to a list.

Just so everyone is aware, anyone in this group is welcome to start a topic any time. We all make this henhouse work. I am only the go between for anything from the farm the involves the henhouse. So if you have any thing you want to host or just share please feel free to post it.

I am happily willing to join in on what ever swap’s I can!
Post cards are great too!
But would be very happy with any swaps that come up if I can.

Painting are good too!

I would love to see some challenges…like a craft room challenge where you use certain materials to create something…kinda like a cooking show with required foods. Does that even make sense? Another idea would be pick a friend of neighbor or even stranger and give a RAOK. A card, a chocolate bar, package of seeds, etc.

Karen :)

To quote one of my past preschoolers “Not one of those Karens, but a good Karen”! Haha

I thought of maybe some How Tos on small gift-y items that could use fabric scraps or other mediums. If people wanted to participate the "teacher" would email the pattern.
