Has anyone heard from Winnie or any of our other gals down south? Just wondering if anyone knows how they fared.

I sent an email to Winnie last night. They are currently in Utah seeing the parks. According to their neighbors there was minimal damage in their area and some limited power outages.

Thank-you all so much for thinking of me! Yes, we were out of town ut fortunately we did not get too much damage. All of us had lots of small tree debris down and some large limbs. In other parts of the city trees came down and many power lines. Fortunately , power was restored within a few days . We were on the lucky side of this devastating storm because we are far enough inside the state that the eye of the hurricane missed us.

Hugs and prayers that Milton misses you, Winnie, and all in Florida and also those still reeling from the damages just 2 wqeeks ago from Helene.

Ed's son (Zach) in Lakeland, FL, is staying up tonight. So far lots of rain and winds and he lost internet several times. He said his new fence blew down, which was just put up after being down quite a while from another (not Helene) hurricane. My brother is in NY, but he also has a condo in a very old (1920s) building in downtown St. Petersburg, and Zach went there with us last year and said that some cranes that blew down in St. Petersburg were very close to my brother's building. Hopefully neither Zach or my brother have extensive damages.

We were spared the worst of the hurricane yesterday because it moved on shore south of Tampa which kept us out of being close to the eye or the NE quadrant of the eye. There was some gusts, 3 inches of rain, but we never lost power. We were so grateful for the break but it was devastating for many Floridians in Sarasota, further south, and all across the state in some places. We area all hurricane weary down here in the state!!

Luckily Zach's house had some of the fascia trim that blew off and his fence blew over. Otherwise things are good. He lost power for a little, but it came back on pretty soon.

My brother said his building suffered some major damages, but his apartments (2 that they merged together) was dry and no damages. One of the penthouse apartments had a couple windows blow out and a lot of water blew in and then leaked down the entire 6 floors and damaged the apartments below it. Dave said there was a lot of damage due to that.

Jessica is back in her house. The had the doors blow off the older of their sheds and the cover from their ac unit was in the neighbor's yard and they lost power. A few small limbs down. Power has been restored. I know they were getting nervous about my grandsons insulin staying cols enough. They lost everything in their fridge but the freezer foods were fine still. Just grateful they were safe. The news said more than a dozen people died in that storm. That was the last number I heard.

So glad they are safe. IF I lived in Florida I would be deciding where to move about now. 2 LARGE hurricanes within 2 weeks is too much.

Linda, I have been wishing we would move but hubby loves it here. I have tried several times over the past 45 years, but nothing motivates him moving out of state!
