I miss baking too. I used to bake every day; bread, cookies, cakes, muffins, etc., etc. For a couple years way back when the oven was the only source of heat in the winter so it was on daily. I have always made my own bread but when I got diabetes bread was no longer part of my diet, along with almost everything else that once came out of the oven. Occasionally I'll make a batch of lower carb banana oatmeal muffins but that is it for baking anymore. Quilting is about the only crafting I do now.

I will have to take a picture of the one in one of our students' room.
Basically you take an old window screen, clean any dirt and cobwebs from it, and lightly apply paint in a design. The spaces between the screen wires should not be clogged. When you hold it against a solid background you can see the pattern. A flag design worked especially well.

Vanessa -- That sounds like messy fun. Does the design appear on both sides or only on the side you are painting, like does it run through to the other side making it a two sides picture? This almost makes me want to take a screen off the house and give it a try but not right now as my screens are end-of-the-summer filthy and need a good scrubbing.

It looks better on one side but you can flip and paint the other side too.

Here are pics of the quilted vest that I just finished (front and back). I had seen a picture on line but could find none like it for sale or as a pattern, so I made a pattern of my own. The fit is not perfect and if I make another I will make some pattern adjustments. The current vest has to be put on and taken off over my head. This one is made with squares from my mother's stash - blue was her favorite color.

Love the colors. My Mom's favorite color was blue too.

Very nice Linda. I made one and used Velcro.

Laurie - I thought about using velcro; I also thought about doing buttons and button holes. did you have a pettern? I couldn’t find one. Yours may be a better fit than mine.

Another forward step in this project. We got the landscaping cloth and a load of dirt. Now I'm shoveling it into the flowerbeds. Next will be some plants to anchor it over winter.

Denise, I just found this post again, I think my favorite craft now is painting rocks, making cards and creating ATC cards! Keeps my brain busy!

Darlene,
I enjoy card making and atc's as well.
I haven't done rock painting in quite a while.

The sedum and rudbeckia are happy in the rain. The bucket is to prevent dogs from getting in the flower bed.

My craft area is a mess so after I go out this morning, I plan to get some cleaning up down there. Does anyone ever not make a mess when they craft? Lol.

Always! But I have finally learned to clean up when the project is done. I have to have it all cleaned up before starting another project. It took me a long time to do it.

Denise one thing I have found out about rock painting is there isn’t anything you can’t paint on it, depending on its size!

Keeps me busy when I am doing it!
Thanks to all of you it has kept me busy,
Thanks again and
Love you all!

I can clean up my crafting room and as soon as I work on a project, there is a small mess. If I don't clean it up right away, I am soon working on several new or UFO projects and it is back to the unorganized state of clutterness. LOL!
