I don't know about dancing like a chicken but I learned the chicken dance that happens at all events in Lodi and apparently other areas populated by Germans from Russia and others from Eastern Europe.

It seems to be a popular dance at weddings when they want to get people out on the dance floor.

Oh yes, the chicken dance must be performed at all weddings. Even if the bride & groom don't ask for it, someone else will! I thought it was Polish since there is a big Polish population in my area. The music reminds me of Polka. It's so much fun!
