Well, for me anyway.
Do any of you know sign language?
My husband does and I've learned a little over the years but now our church is giving a free class this year. We started last night and will go through Spring then we will have a break and finish in the fall.
I am excited to learn a second language. Signing has always fascinated me. JT learned when he was young so he could speak to his cousin. Sadly, his aunt and uncle never learned for some reason.

JT is also taking the course as some signs have changed in ASL.

There is a man at our church who is deaf. He does wear hearing aids and speaks quite well. Some who have never heard words speak them as they read them so not as we would, but he is a very good teacher and spent years in India with his wife teaching the deaf India's sign language. That was a challenge I'm sure as sign is not the same everywhere just as the spoken languages are not.

It has been so interesting to hear what life was like there for them.

So far I have the alphabet down, which is a refresher for me. I just need to practice to get more fluent with it. They don't spell everything out thankfully.

What a fun class, Denise! :). I learned the alphabet while in high school and remember most of the letters…except q, p and g! :) lol. I don’t know much after that. I love you and thanks…maybe.

I started taking an online class but had trouble remembering the alphabet from one day to another. I think I started too late; should have done it 50 years ago.

Denise, what a good and useful skill to have. I hope you will enjoy the class and getting proficient in ASL. It is a real gift to those who depend on it for communication.

I took sign ,
Language in college years ago for the medical classs I was taking, but didn’t get to use it!

Use it or lose it!
It was a neat class.

Wonderful Denise. A long time ago I knew the alphabet. But never really used it.

That is an interesting class to take, Denise. I don't know anyone who is deaf, but I think it would be fun to learn.
