What a Bang at my house! The limbs from the tree hit part of my garden. I was able to re-stake my tomato Plants and most of my flowers! I'm still picking out sticks and leaves. They are loaded down with cherry tomatoes!

Well for going so long without rain we sure are making up for it. Today and tomorrow are supposed to be in the upper 80s and then rain/storms from this Thursday until the following Thursday.
I've never seen such a wet July. At least today is to be nice for our son in loves birthday party. He doesn't like being born on the 4th. Too much about fireworks and not birthday. So we are trying to make this day about his special day.

Do have a safe, happy 4th ladies.

Hey everyone, how was your July 4th? We had a neighborhood gathering on July 3 which was very festive fun but it got way too hot! After 1.5 hours, we old folk had to go home to the AC!LOL!! We kept July 4th a quiet one mostly indoors.

We are locked into a pattern of excessive heat and humidity these days which is making anything outdoors miserable. Plus the mosquitoes are terrible this year. I am guessing you already heard on the news that Florida had 4 cases of Malaria not related to travel. So that means if you are doing anything outside you have to use bug spray with Deet to protect yourself. Farmgirls.......I think this is going to be one long Summer for us down here in Florida. We also had a few shark attacks here over the July 4th weekend to swimmers on the Atlantic beaches. Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured. I am planning a lot of reading and hopefully some handwork I have been wanting to do.

Sounds like you have a lot to watch out for - sharks and mosquitos. It is very hot and humid here in Texas, too. Temps in the 90s but heat indexes of 110 and higher. YUK!

Ed was moving some wood fence panels today and found we have a bee nest that the little critters built there. He got stung once hen he reached for one of the fence panels and the critters didn't like him near their new home. I want to call a bee rescuer, but he says he wants them there to pollinate the gourds and pumpkins plants he has planted fairly near to them. Oh, well. I'm staying away from that spot for sure. LOL!

We have the US flag flying everyday on the flagpole in our front yard; the pole has a solar light on top so the flag is always lit at night. Up until last week the Texas flag flew under the US flag. Ed took the Texas flag down because we need to replace it; it is showing too much wear.

Yesterday we donated 6 older (but still in good shape) suitcases to a group that supplies clothes and school supplies to foster children. The suitcases are useful because otherwise the children go to their foster homes with their belongings in a pillowcase or garbage bag.

So many foster children do Linda. I remember when my mom and dad took them and we never had one come with a suitcase. It's sad that everything they owned was fit into a paper or garbage bag.

When my brother adopted my nephew, he was 2 at the time, he used to carry things around in a plastic bag. Anything someone would give him went into that bag and he would take it wherever he went. I don't know how old he was before he stopped doing that. I didn't know there were such groups around but glad to hear there are. I will have to check in our area and see if there is one here.

Thats really nice Linda!
It’s not good how the system treats these children!, or anyone!
A lot of them are there because of the system!

Winnie or anyone -

You can always check with your local Child Protective Services (CPS) office if you have any suitcases to donate. At least in Texas they are the county offices that handle placements of foster children. The group that I took these to s called Clothed in Grace Foster Closet and they have a Facebook page. They are currently collecting new underwear and socks to send with children on a new foster placement.

Thanks Linda, I will check and see. At the moment I don't have any extra suitcases but perhaps there are other needs here I could support.
