I hope everyone is enjoying a beautiful Sunday. We are having a great day which some much needed rain. Steady, soaking rain! I'm sure the plants and flowers are slowly drinking it in. It's been awhile and it is so refreshing!

What is everyone up to this last day of Spring? We are still having Spring weather. Though we have had some warm days it has been rainy the last couple of days. Clearing off and staying in the 70's to start our Summer.
I have started a new journey of gaining better health. Hopefully shedding some weight in the process but I am no longer dieting. Changing my eating lifestyle. Getting more movement in which has already been a big help to my back and sciatic issues. This is not temporary, it is a change in me taking charge of my health through nutrition and exercise. I have been starting off with more changes in eating and now adding in low level exercises. Hoping to move up in that soon. I want to be able to play with my grandchildren as long as possible. Swimming has been one exercise I have been doing with the kids at the pool. I love swimming and take precautions being out in the sun. I have so much more energy these days which means I have been keeping up with most things pertaining to the house. Crafting has been slow going because I don't want to be doing a lot of sitting. I'd rather be on the move.

I hope each of you are having some good weather. I hope Winnie is enjoying her trip and seeing lots of new sights.
Get out and celebrate that first day of Summer tomorrow!!

No spring weather here, we are already in summer. He heat indexes of 100° plus this week and part of last week.

Ed and I have also been walking more in the evening when it’s cooler. We need to start walking in the morning when it’s cooler. Because by 10 or 11 o’clock it is too hot to walk for most of the day.

We got home late last night about midnight and were so glad to finally be home after a long journey. Eastern Europe was an interesting place and it has a complicated history as well. We enjoyed seeing and learning about all these small countries and how they are working to rebuild their countries after centuries of wars and occupations. Some are further ahead in the changes than others, but they all want to be independent and free from foreign occupation. Each country also had wonderful food specialties that were unique to them as well. Plus their old folk costumes were bright and full of embroidered flowers and symbols. Most of the countries, except Hungary, or Christians Orthodox Church. Their old churches are full of beautiful frescoes that cover every inch of the interiors . So beautiful!

Today has been a blur of unpacking and regrouping. Lots of laundry and catching up are in full gear around here! I have been living with a 6 hour time change for the past 18 days so it will take me some days to sort that all out again and get back on our clock . While we were gone, they had over 10 inches of rain and everything is green and the growing like crazy. It had been really dry before we left so the rain has been a welcomed arrival. Yep, we re in full swing of hot, humid, thunderstormy summertime!

Welcome home, Winnie! I thought of you often over the course of the time you were vacationing. I love reading your comments on the forum and I just want you to know that I missed you! Good luck getting back on track with the time change. I can't even imagine...I go to the east coast and it takes me 2 weeks to re-adjust to west coast time! :)

Our Spring weather for here is typical. It is grey and damp. Summer usually shows up in September.

Thanks Denise for the great 4th of July card! I will go put it on my cupboard for July 4th decoration! I love it!

Welcome home Winnie!
just wanted to say Hi to everyone. Just got power back after 4 days, one of the worst storms in 36 years we lived here. lily june was here with us, she was terrified, where her parents live didn't get power out or damage, so they came and got here as soon as it was over. Ive never seen wind like that here in Tennessee without it being a tornado. it was like a hurricane. a 100 year old tree fell on the edge my house, no one hurt. extensive roof damage, waiting on insurance adjuster coming on Monday. Tree guys removed the tree today.

110 heat index today so we got power on just in time!!!

Wow, Connie - so glad you are all safe! I like rain, but not when it gets that bad. We used to have bad storms in Illinois on a regular basis during the summer.

Good morning,

I'm coming out of the woodworks! lol School is done for now ... what a busy semester. I don't have much to say ... I haven't done anything except self-care. I'm exhausted! June is flying by. I'll be back in school in two months! I need a longer break.

It's nice to catch up and see some returning gals.

We have a smoky haze mornin ..., again. It's just so sad. Went to Montreal last Sunday to visit my mom. Spent the night as I needed to take her to a Dr for a morning appt. OMG, the air quality was the worse in the world. As I crossed the Champlain bridge I could not see the city. Unheard of!

Connie, glad you are ok. The weather has been so crazy. It's insane!

Winnie, your trip sounds lovely.

I plan on spending a quiet summer ... relaxing. I do have a trip planned towards the end of August. Headed to Newfoundland, the most northern part. I hope to see a starry night sky with no light pollution. Hopefully I'll see the northern lights too.

That's it for now. As I mentioned not much going on.

Cheers!

Hi Carole, and it is good to hear from you! So glad your school program is humming along and that you have a summer break. Down here in the states, many are getting the smoke from the fires up your way and air quality has been poor as well. It is a shame your country is having such a tough year with wildfires. Let us know how your trip to Newfoundland turns out and hopefully you will see the northern lights too!!

Connie, I am so sorry about the awful storm that hit your home! Thankfully, nobody was seriously hurt! Bad storms are really scary these days and there can be a lot of clean up like what happened in your yard. So glad you are OK and now just working on catching up on some rest and find out what insurance will pay so the roof and get fixed. There is nothing worse than sitting in your home while the wind is howling and blowing outside while sheets of rain are pouring down!! Mother Nature can sure make a fit when she wants too!!

Ed and I have booked 3 cruises for 2024 and 2025. In 2024 we are going from Tampa to Seattle, through the Panama Canal, on a 16-day cruise. When arriving in Seattle, we stay on the ship for 14 more days and go to Alaska. WOW! Haven't ever been on a ship for more than 14 days, so 30 Days will be different. Then in 2025 we have a 14-day cruise on a new Carnival ship, Venezia, to the Caribbean. Looking forward to this new ship. Can't wait. Still trying to find a cruise for sometime this fall. Hmmmmmm!

we said goodbye to June Thanking God we survived the Storm!!

We have a generator, so we didn't have to leave home! it hit on the far end of the house on top of my moms bedroom but didn't come thru the ceiling, the attic stopped it!! so much to be Thankful for!! The power goes out 3 or more times a year here. so a generator is a lifesaver! keeps the Refrigerator, fan or heater, lamp and tv on. we just stay in the living room.
