Getting to know Denise Thompson, our Head Hencho! Enjoy girls!

1. Who is/was the biggest influence in your life? Were you a child or adult when this person impacted your life? I would have to say there were two. My mother and my aunt. My aunt was actually more like my grandmother. They both taught me many things. I was a child when my aunt had the biggest impact and an adult when my mother did. They were both full of wisdom. They taught to be kind, to have a listening ear and both of them had an impact on my spiritual life.

2. What is your favorite season? Why? Fall is my favorite. I love the cooler weather and all the coziness of preparing my home for winter. I love the colors of Fall and all the scents. There is something about preparing for the winter months that fall brings to me.

3. What is your dream vacation destination? Who would you take with you? I would love to go to Ireland! Our families roots are there and I would take my husband.

4. Given the chance, what would you tell your younger self? I would tell myself not to get hung up on what others think. Also, to enjoy life more within the boundaries set for me.

5. Share three things you love about your life. I love spending time with my husband, my best friend. I love the experiences we have shared together and all of the places we’ve have the opportunity to see. I love that I can invest in the lives of my grandchildren.

6. What is your favorite part of being in the MJF sisterhood? My favorite part is all of the women I have come to know over the past 16 years. The friendships I have made and the wisdom I have gleaned from them.

7. How did you come to live in the area you are in? My oldest and her family decided to move to another state and since we had family in Ohio we decided it was time to come here and be with them. The children are still small here and though we still have our son there we felt this was the best move for us at the time. We do miss the older ones but do keep in close touch.

8. How far from home have you traveled? I have traveled from my home in NY to Hawaii, so around 6,000 miles from home.

9. What is your favorite things to grow in a garden? Fruits, Veggies, Flowers? I prefer to grow veggies, all kinds. I don’t have a favorite to grow. I love them all.

10.What Merit Badges are you currently working on? What has been your favorite badge earned to date? I am currently working on the badge for UFOs. I have lots of them. My favorite I have earned is my knitting badge. I taught myself to knit so it has been a big accomplishment for me.

You are all welcome. I didn't mind going first. If there is anything else you'd like to know feel free to ask. It is how we get to know one another!
