Here is a quilt top I finished yesterday, but I cannot decide on a border. It is a Bonnie Hunter pattern. I am thinking of a 1" solid (black maybe?) inner border and then a printed or pieced border. Was wondering about piano key border, but that may really make it too busy.

I made mine 9 x 9 squares; Bonnie had done hers 10 x 12 squares and then just bound with no additionnal borders. The blocks finish at 8" square so right now it is 72" x 72" so with a nice border it could be queen size. If I don't add a border, I could add a few more rows in both directions. That would put a larger dent in my strips. Hmmmm. What to do? Any suggestions? And I do like quilts that are just bound, but if I did a scrappy piano key border I could use more strips up, too.

Love it! It looks like lots of colorful Chinese lanterns. A narrow, 1-2 inch black inner border then the piano keys might look good.

Linda your quilt is beautiful!

I posted this on the main forum also. I made luggage tags last weekend. I went to the Janome website so I could add the link here but they don't have this pattern any more.
The one on the left has a vinyl window for your name & address. I don't know if I need a different foot or what. The directions say use a teflon foot but I can't find one. For the one on the right I cut an extra piece from fabric & folded down the top to make a fabric pocket instead of vinyl.
I spend 2 years travelling a lot for my job, 1 or 2 weeks every month. Everyone has a black suitcase and even when you have a different color you still see people checking tags to see if it's their bag. I've seen people tie yarn on their handle, wrap a sort of belt around the middle of the suitcase. Anyway, I think these tags will be noticed & you won't have to look for a name.

I love the tales, Andrea! I’m sure they will make a huge difference. When I travel I can usually find my suitcase pretty quick but I swear it’s always the last one off the plane! Lol :)

I had been working on a junk journal for my granddaughter's birthday. I didn't get it done in time but sent it a few days ago. I was thrilled because she really likes it! Here are a few pictures.

Well more than a few. I put in lots of pockets and folios. I added a note in the front pocket for her. It was mostly the things she likes. The moon and there are maps of the constellations in there. She likes wolves and Animae so I added some stickers to the pockets as well as on the pages. Sorry this is so long.

Linda what a beautiful quilt. I love that pattern and it is on my long list of to-dos! lol

Andrea, nice luggage tags.

Denise, Wow! That's a gorgeous junk journal. The name doesn't do it justice! lol I wonder why they call it that.

Thanks everyone for showing pictures. It's so umpiring.

Cheers!

Thank you, Carole. I love scrappy quilts. I have finished about 60 more blocks to add to make this 12x12 blocks. And all of mine are REALLY crooked - many blocks are lopsided because they were large enough without another strip. I'll post another pix after I add the additional 3 vertical and 2 horizontal rows of blocks.

I am also working on a Dallas Mavericks baby quilt for our new grandson who is due to arrive in February. His dad is ticket manager for the Dallas Mavericks. A t-shirt is in the middle square and I've made 4 each of 2 different block patterns surrounding that. Then a 6" strip of Mavericks fabric on the top and bottom so the t-shirt is centered. I;m sewing the last 4 blocks together then will post a pix. I may not finish before he is born because I was going to add his name and birthdate on the top and bottom strips in block letters.

Found this vest at the Salvation Army. Marked $7.99 but everything white or blue was half price that day.
I bought the blue book several years ago. It has 2 patterns. One for a jointed bear and one for an unjointed bear. I made a few bears and had to stop because the fabric was giving me migraines. Fast forward 10 years. I decided to give it another try. Found the blue book on e-bay and bought the second book because it has a bunch of different size bears. Migraines again so everything went in a box. A few years later I found the original blue book. Turns out I didn't sell it at a yard sale. So here I go again.
I had washed the vest and hung it to dry.

The arms. I used the "suede" side for the paw pads.

I have all the pieces sewn together. Next up is putting the joints in and stuffing the arms & legs. I had to order the eyes so I won't do any more work on the head for now. My sewing machine and desk were covered in lint so I will be wearing a mask.

My aunt used to make teddy bears and sell them. Apparently she did quite well with it. They were really nicely made. It looks like a wonderful start Andrea, I'm sure it will be beautiful when finished. . My dad liked to collect teddy bears. I have a few special ones myself.
