I didn't realize what a disaster my sewing room is!!! It looks exactly like what it is....someone starting and working on too many projects at once! I got a little bit cleaned and organized yesterday, hopefully more today! I need to wind some yarn into balls so I can put it away, too. |

Don't you hate it when suddenly you realize that a room has turned upside down and everything is a wreck?? That seems to easily happen when I start a bunch of stuff and and it piles up in stacks everywhere with the promise, I will fix it later................always much later!! LOL!! |

Yes! It kind of snuck up on me! I also have a stack of mending from 4 grandchildren. That should be finished this weekend. I saw where someone was using a metal sheet cake pan, like you get at restaurant supply stores, to use as a tray to set stacks of quilt blocks, etc., on. It looked like a great way to keep things together and organized |

A big pizza box works good for quilt blocks and parts. I told Pizza Guys I was willing to pay but they gave me two for free. |

We are still at Ed's son's house in Lakeland, FL - leaving for Texas on Saturday, but probably taking an extra day to get there. LOL!
Last week I spent with a grade school friend in Punta Gorda, FL. We went to thrift shops, Goodwill stores, etc.; I found a pair of jeans to cut up for projects - has great blingy pockets, got a dress for me, a skirt for me to add a lacy extension to, and several books I'd been wanting to read. She gave me some fabric that I can use for projects and a cute gnome for my garden. I finished one crocheted hexagon sweater and started working on another that I can work on in the truck on the way back to Texas. We also took a day to go shopping in Venice, FL, and had a flat in her Miata; we had to rent a car because they had to order a tire to arrive the next day, so most shopping didn't happen that day except that I got some leggings and a top at the Chico's Outlet store before the flat.
Since I've been back at Zach's I've been finishing 2 St Pats project and some microwave bowl potholders for sale at the small shop at home, worked on a quiltlet, and started borders on some small square patriotic table runners. I just put up all the sewing to start loading the truck little by little and will work on the crocheted hexagon sweater later. I can't believe how easy the hexagon sweater is and how fast it goes. |

Linda, your vacation here in Florida sounds like a wonderful time with old friends and new places to explore. I am glad you have had such a good time here in our state! This time of year the weather is the nicest because there are lots of sunny warm days and not the heat and humidity that sets in by May. Safe travels home! |

Thursday I saw these cute kitties on Ebay and have made some before during the fall and Halloween season. These are my Spring kitties made from all sorts of scraps of cloth and buttons. The pattern is super simple and easy to make.

Winnie, those are fun! I would think they could be kind of addicting and hard to make just a couple! |

Thank-you for your supportive comments! My sewing skills are at the basic level but I do enjoy doing simple projects that I can share or keep.

Winnie, cute chicks! They look lovely in the basket.
I've been knitting a lot and started a few projects and completed a couple. I decided that I needed another cardigan but in Cast Iron/black.
So, I'm knitting another Willapa. I only have the bottom to finish and knit the collar and it's a done deal.
I'm using the yarn Loft by Brooklyn Tweed. It consist of American Targhee - Columbia wool. I'm all about the sheep! lol I like that it is sourced in Johnson County, WY ... spun in Harrisville, NH and dyed in Philadelphia, PA. Would be nice if it was all in one place to minimize the environmental foot print ... But, I'll content myself with knowing that it was all done in the USA.
Cheers!

Carole, You sure do seem to whip up these knitting projects in no time. Would love to knit that way but alas it is difficult for me for some reason. Takes me a long time. |

I like knitting, but lately I prefer crochet first. I think it goes faster and projects finish quickly. I have one sweater that has been 1/2 done for over 10 years. Maybe I need to finish it? I think it just needs sleeves, pockets, and trim for the buttons and buttonholes. LOL! I have always wanted to knit socks, but I haven't found what I thought was an easy pattern. Do you have a good socks pattern, Carole?
I also have another crocheted hexagon sweater to finish. I started it in March when we were in Florida. I have worn the grey one I made several times when it has cooled off here.

I love vintage cotton tablecloths. I have had this oval tablecloth for quite a while that I bought at a thrift shop. I thought it would make a WONderful skirt; I've just been scared to cut it in case it didn't work. ;-( This pix shows how I folded it down so if I cut and sewed it it would make a round skirt. Any other ideas before I cut it? - and one idea could be to just keep it as a tablecloth. LOL!
And here is another square tablecloth that I liked -another skirt? - or just a pretty tablecloth.
It's funny that the yellow backgrounds in these 2 are exactly the same color.
I have a lot more old cotton tablecloths in my collection.l, and some have holes in them. I'd also thought about cutting some of them into squares and making aprons or a quilt out of them.
What do you think? |

That tablecloth would make a great skirt! I can see the other one as curtains. |

Those old tablecloths are really nice and in great shape. I have no idea how to turn them into a skirt ,but I liked Judith's idea of curtains as a possibility. If not, just use them as tablecloths and change them out and enjoy their lovely patterns and rich colors. |
