Winnie,
Love your apple picture! Looking forward to the annual apple theme swap.

I am taking a break from Facebook. Too much negativity there. It not good for me as it is depressing. I need to get back to more lighthearted happiness and some fun things.

Marlee - I don't know that I would go out there. I do NOT like snakes and spiders - AT ALL! LOL!

Lily June is the cutest; she is so lucky to have you as her Ganny Bear, Connie.

Denise, I cut my friend list down from 300 to 200. I don't go on as much as I use to. I had to stay on because of my antique booth. That's how we connect buyers to sellers. I just sold a silver tea set by seeing the post a lady needed one. She bought mine because I got it to her the next day .

I've been cutting my friends list down, too. I've also been selling quite a bit on FB Marketplace.

Linda do you have to have a tax # to sell on facebook marketplace?
My family have me such a hard time about facebook. Then Facebook told me my cell phone #, that I had been using for 20 years was not my #. That was when I stopped.
Then when my husband got interested in finding a pickup, he went to his good friends wife, who is my hair dresser, for help. She set him up on facebook!
Every now and then...I give him a hard time...now!

I don't think you have to pay sales tax unless it is something like a vehicle where you would pay sales tax when registering in your state.

Marilyn -
No, I don't. At least no one has asked for one. And I don't charge tax. I am mostly selling used stuff, like garage sale. Some new gift stuff I've made.

I do know that in California, at least in some cities, you need to charge and report sales taxes for garage sales. They need to get a permit for garage sales.

Connie,
Cutting out Facebook has given me more time to work on other things. I took it off my phone so I have to get on my laptop to get on there. Usually my laptop is out of sight out of mind.

Tomorrow morning we head up to Asheville, NC to spend the week with my daughter. We are looking forward to being with her!! Today , I baked a batch of Toll House cookies to take up to her as well as a jar of my pickles, and a few packages of her favorite flavored coffee. It has been unusually hot here today and it rained a few moments, the sun came out, and it got ever more miserable!! Looks like more of the same in Asheville the next few days as well. I might not get on much while gone, but I will check back when we get home next Sunday evening.

Well, this was an interesting day! Ed and I went to the movies and saw The Art of Racing in the Rain - well, we saw MOST of it. Several times during the movie I could feel my phone buzzing. I figured it was a robo call, so did not look at it. After the 3rd or 4th time, I looked at my message and saw that I had several messages from my DIL and neighbor saying that the horses on my property had gotten out. I showed Ed and we left the movie early to come home. On the way home I found out that another neighbor had put the horses onto his daughters property where they had a gate so they could keep them in. When we got home, Ed brought some horse pellets and the horses came right up to him. The neighbor brought 3 halters, they haltered the horses, and they walked the horses back to my pasture. My DIL said she had 32 messages in just a couple minutes and couldn't get hold of me. And my neighbor couldn't get hold of me. Then I couldn't get hold of the owner of the horses, and called his mother (another neighbor) who lives about 2 miles from me. There were a lot of posts on FB for our town page about horses that were out. I thanked everyone who was concerned and/or helped on FB and in person. All's well that ends well. WHEW!!!!!!

Glad to hear the horses are ok, good of your family and friends to be alert.
Take care!

Does the young man who owns the horses maintain your fences??? He needs to come and spend a day fixing things up. I'm glad no one hit them with a vehicle. That can be bad...

Ed has been clearing the perimeter fence line - little by little - and tightening up the fence where needed. The horses got out because Ed left the walk-through gate unlocked. He didn't put the chain back through the hole and use the closing clamp. Ed just put the chain in the slot on the gate. He thinks September, the youngest horse, saw him go through the gate and decided to try it herself - and she got through. The other 2 horses just followed her.

Horses are so smart. Wade has one, I call flipper, because he will stand and flip the pipe slider that is the closure on every gate on the place. So the pen he lives in has a piece of chain and a good hook. So he cannot leave.
There are some horses who want their friends to come out and play too. So once they are free, they will open every other stall. Thankfully I have not had that problem, recently. It is good that we are over a mile from the highway, because there is someone out most days. With plenty of hay and grass they seem content to eat or graze.

LOL! Yes, horses are smart. Thankfully, our neighbors were around and watchful when these got out. WHEW!

Well, today we booked a cruise the end of September. It is to the eastern Caribbean - San Juan, St. Thomas, Tortula, and Nassau. We are going back to 3 of these in January, but it is always nice going to the Caribbean. Alaska would have been nice, to go to a cooler climate, but the Caribbean will be fun! It is on the Norwegian Breakaway - a large ship. So it will be nice to be on a large ship. Most of my cruises are on Carnival, so a different cruise line will be fun, too.

Winnie, have a great visit. Glad the horses are ok. As for allergies...the first time I visited Austin Tx, the moment I got off the plane my nose ran. Didn't stop until I got back to Minnesota.

Just a brief stop in from Asheville, NC. Golly it has been very hot here all week! Sometimes it is cooler in later evening but you still have daytime temps up around 89 and it is baking hot. We did get to an Apple orchard one morning and I picked a large sack of Ginger Gold and Gala apples . They are so crunchy and sweet and I have been eating them with great delight!! This morning we drove up on the Blue Ridge Parkway to Mount Mitchell Sate Park, which is just an hour away. Mt. Mitchell is the highest mountain of the Blue Ridge and stands at 6684 feet. It was a clear day so the view is extraordinary!! Plus it was in the low 60s up there and it felt wonderfully cool!! Tomorrow we head home and stop off at my brother’s house. It has been a busy but fun week.
