Time flies when you're having fun. July is upon us and it's time to celebrate the U.S.A's birthday, have picnics, swim in the local swimming hole and enjoy those long summer evenings.
July always makes me want to get out and enjoy the summertime fun. Maybe go to the drive in, go for bikes rides or evening strolls. I enjoy making lighter meals and finding more things to keep me active.
What do you look forward to this month?

Denise~~

I'm looking forward to hearing from POTUS on the fourth. He teased us with hints about the good news he will share.
I'm looking forward to sunny days but not too hot.
I still must pinch myself because I don't have to get up super early, get ready and go to work. It took a while, but hey this being retired is great!
I'm looking forward to picking the black eyed peas that God has grown for us to eat, also the okra and the green beans and squash. We will have some tomatoes and peppers too.
I'm not looking forward to watering the garden beds every couple of days when the heat comes.
I'm spoiled to God watering for me. Thank you for the blessing rains.
My crepe myrtle trees are in full bloom... Both the lilac colored ones as well as the hot pink ones...at the same time. I think I planted 18 about twenty five years ago. My son pulled one out with his tractor when he had to bring the tractor into the yard so the roofers could have the shingles to roof the house. One died. The others are probably 20' tall and they form a screen. That is one reason I can not see storm clouds approaching or other things in the sky.

My garden loves the rain, too, Marilyn. Unfortunately, so do the wild black raspberry bushes, and they are taking over and choking out some of my other plants.

I found a great buy the other day in my favorite thrift shop - a Longaberger small spoon basket with liner and divider for $3. I think it was over $30 new, and is in perfect condition.

LInda, I used to be a Longaberger Home Consultant and you got this basket for a steal!!! I love Longaberger baskets and their pottery and was so sad to see their business end last Spring. It was the end of an interesting American story of one man’s vision and weaving skills. These baskets will last a lifetime because they are all handmade with quality wood for reeds. Enjoy using this new little kitchen assistant!!

Winnie, I sold them for a year way back in the day. I didn't realize that they closed their business! I had heard that they were having troubles. I loved their things when I first found out about them. I know that they were just trying to reach a wider audience when they started coming out with their more recent designs but I liked the original pottery and baskets.

I was invited to a party, around 1990. I bought a small basket and a Santa cookie mold. Then years later, when the girls were little, I received the popcorn basket for Christmas. Wonderful collectables.

I have never been to a Longaberger party but have seen them around in yard sales and craft shows. I have a couple I have picked up at different places. They are very nice baskets.

Happy fun, noisy Fourth of July!

Our sweet Lucky won't be scared, hyperventilating, trying to get in the utility room. She is safe from those scary noises.

Winnie a

I also got the 1999 Vanity basket with fabric liner, divided plastic insert, and lid at another thrift store. What is it worth? I paid $15. I hope that is a good deal. And Ed and I were at an antique mall over a year ago and One booth had a lot of Longaberger baskets and they were all very good prices. I got a Christmas card basket with fabric liner and medallion. Are they good resale items?

Linda, if your Longaberger baskets are in mint condition, they will sell on Ebay. But, if their condition is not great, people won't buy them because there are some baskets that are like new and just stored in a box or closet somewhere for years. Check out Ebay and see what baskets like the ones you bought are selling for. You have to pick an auction and follow along to see what the outcome is. I have sold a lot of my old baskets on Ebay a few years ago when I needed to downsize.

The embroidered towel you found is adorable!!

Tomato sandwiches are great summertime meals Connie. I've been getting the beefsteak and adding them to our meals.

There are a lot of Longaberger baskets for sale on Facebook Marketplace in our area - and I'm sure more all over the US. And most of the prices are very low compared to what I know they sold for originally. I'm listing the Vanity one now - just to see if there is interest.

I hate this heat - but mostly the humidity that is worse this year than last. You stay healthy. It helps all of us to stay out of the heat.

Does your gate open with the morning glories on it?
