Thank you Marilyn! It's been a rough day so far but only because I've had my mom on my mind all week and it's been very difficult this year for some reason. She's been gone 7 yrs and I've never experienced this feeling of loss on mothers day as much as this year. I don't know why. I'm sure the weather, raining so much this month, has not helped my mood.
I do hope everyone has a great day with family. Mine will be here later. |

Denise, I understand your missing your mom! I was also thinking of my own mother...many times this past week. I thought of all the things she taught me, all the memories of learning by watching her. One of my favorite memories, I was six, when one day I begged her to teach me how to draw a lady's face. She placed her paper on her knee as she sat with me holding the hem of her housedress...and slowly, very carefully, she showed me how to draw a lady's face. Of course when she had drawn several, off I went to sit at the table with paper and pencil, trying to draw by following her drawings. I was always in awe that she could do or make anything she tried to do...give her a challenge and she would do it perfectly! She was so smart, valedictorian of her 11 th grade class, then the next year when they added 12 th grade she missed that award, in another larger school, by 2/10 of a point. But she never forgot her teachers. She did not brag, the way I found out, was curosity. I always ask lots of questions. I still do. My family gets aggravated at me but that is just the curious teacher in me. That same summer, my sixth, she made a special little yellow organdy pinafore just for me. It had ruffles over my shoulders and two pockets that she embroidered little purple pansies on. She used verigated thread. I would sit or stand and watch her stitch...facinated! The thing I miss most is being able to ask more questions. |

Happy Mother's Day to our mothers, grand mother's, great grandmothers, etc. For all of the love they shared and all of the knowledge they shared. Thank you God for making women to bear children and love those children teaching them to be good adults...so the cycle can continue. |
