Here we are in May already!
Happy Mayday everyone!

I sure enjoyed April and being FGOTM on the main forum.
I posted my choice for May last night.

I love the month of May because it gets a bit warmer outside which means we take more of our meals on the porch.
We spend more time outside too.
I also love it because it is our wedding anniversay this month.

I am hoping the forecast for our month is not really as wet as they are saying. It seems more days are calling for rain than sunshine.

Today is a perfect May day with sunshine and breezes blowing about the scents of God's flowers. I will enjoy it until the clouds and rain blow in.

Hi everyone from Florence, Italy. We have been busy the past two days seeing this most amazing old city. It is full of art at every turn in it’s buildings , churches, museums, and old buildings where people still live and work. Of course there is also much that is definitely 2019, but this old city as not bombe in WWII so all the Medieval and Renaissance architecture still remains. The other interesting part is the the Florence we see today was literally built upon the Roman city that was already here. There are some visible remnants of that ancient culture as well.

I am trying to recover from jet lag but still not sleeping right and getting my days and nights organized correctly. Hmmmmmm, the older I get the harder it is becoming, The weather here is quite cool so walking around has been easy.

I hope everyone has a wonderful upcoming Jubilee weekend!! We will visit Tuscany area tomorrow so I will be learning more about this famous region to start my Jubilee celebration.

Connie,
Who doesn't love bubbles? They bring out the child in all of us!

Winnie,
Florence sounds lovely. Such a wonderful opportunity to experience all of its magnificence. Hope you can get your sleep pattern worked out soon. Makes it so much more pleasant when the weather is nicer.

Marilyn, I get so excited to see the first little tomato. My paw paw loved growing tomatoes. After he retired from building homes. He bought 5 acres in Friendship, TN. He planted one whole acre of tomatoes! Every year for 30 years. He also grew corn, Shelly beans and turnip greens cucumbers, field peas. He bought a red tractor in 1972. He loved that tractor. My brother is a mechanic, he kept it running those 30 years. He gave it to my brother a few years before he passed away. He just did a small garden by the house. I miss my paw paw. I got my love of the land from him and my Granny. They both grew up on farms. Now my brother cuts his 2 acres of grass and part of our 3 acres with the ole tractor!

Connie that is an awesome story. We learn so much from our grandparents, and our parents. My mother always had a small backyard garden, 10' x 10' or 12' x 12'. She would get a farmer to bring a load of cow poo, in his old pickup. He would shovel it out, she would pay him, then she got to work turning the soil, adding the cow manure, to insure things would grow. Then when it was time, she would plant okra, tomatoes and black eyed peas. She always grew green onions in the flower beds. I can almost taste that first dinner she would prepare when the peas were ready. She always had lots of snaps with the peas, then when they were cooked, she would pay baby okra pods on top, put the lid back on and get the salad and cornbread ready. By the time we sat down (10-15 minutes later) to enjoy this feast, the okra was perfectly steamed. Yum, yum!!!

Just love stories about those who came before that we learned so much from. We always had a huge garden when i was growing up. My mom put up so much of it plus what we ate while it was growing.

Just came in from burying one of my hens. They are only two but I think something was up with her because she kept to herself and I noticed her tail wasn't up like the others. She was just laying under the roost.

My grandmother always had a wonderful flower garden - she won ribbons at the county fair every year for her floral arrangements. She also won awards for dried arrangements and she used milkweed and other local weeds in these arrangements. She lived in central Illinois. My mother, too, always had nice flowers in Illinois, but always said she could never grow them like her mother. My mother had a HUGE ***** willow bush that I loved, and she would put arrangements of ***** willows in the house. They stayed beautiful for a long time. She had tiger lilies and other beautiful plants, too, along with lily of the valley, violets, and many others.
