Marilyn do you have a good recipe for cooking dandelions? I tried cooking them years ago and they were so bitter.

No I dont, Sara. Mother said they ate them like salad greens, uncooked. The flowers too!

Thanks Marilyn but I no longer can eat raw veggies.

Denise some are starting to show up in my yard so I'll try another batch. Steamed with a dab of Irish butter - maybe a knob. According to my Irish cookbook a knob of butter is enough to grease a pie pan.

Do you think a dash of nutmeg would be good - Rachel Raye adds nutmeg to all her greens.

Denise I gathered a couple of handfuls of wee dandelion leaves and had it for lunch with Bar-B-Q chicken from freezer. I liked the dandelions sautéed with pat of butter. I remember that before I had gathered mature leaves which were too bitter.

Mmm that sounds good,
Sara how big is a knob of butter?
Denise how do you cook your dandelion greens?
Have a good safe day out there.

Love you all!

Darlene the cookbook says it will grease a 8-9" pie pan. I guess it's up to the cook to decide how much she wants to use to grease the pan. Sorta like ours a pinch of this and a dash of that.

Today I baked my sourdough bread loaves. I was stitching feed bags together and sat, with that wonderful yeasty smell for 4o minutes. Then the second loaf was ready to bake! I had to go to the barn, but when I returned it smelled so good in my house.
Since I used Einkorn home ground wheat, the loaves are a bit rustic but good. My sourdough starter is resting in a jar in the fridge until i can get some more Einkorn flour ordered. It really surprised me that the natural yeast smelled so good baking and it is not a sour tasting bread.

Well, our internet service went down and just now got back up and running. Not sure what happened but glad to be back online again!! Denise, thank you for your instructions on the dandelion leaves . Oddly enough, I don’t seem to see any in my yard. We have all manner of other weeds but not edible ones. Sara, I am going to try yournid a of some butter if I can find enough to try. They say dandelions have lots of good vitamins and add good nutrition.

I am imagining the women long ago heralding the first gathering of edible weeds to enjoy!

Isn't it a shame that we rely so much on Internet? And providers seem to care less and less if we have a problem with them. The customer service isn't what it was when my previous husband worked for the Bell companies. He would go to a house and people would leave and say "lock up when you leave." You sure can't do that now - they'd rob you blind.

From Tuesday through Wednesday I could not get into a site that I use every day. I called my Internet provider because I could get it on my phone if I didn't USE the Internet but used my cell phone gBs. She said it was not their problem, but she would look into it. She called me back and said that I could only use Internet Explorer to access it and no other providers. I tried that and it didn't work, either. I emailed the site help center and was told that it would work on ALL providers, but the one that they recommended LEAST was Internet Explorer. DUH??? All of a sudden on Thursday evening, we could get to the site on our home Internet again, on Chrome, which is the one I use most. You can't tell me she didn't discover that they HAD blocked that site for somme reason and didn't tell me it actually was their fault.

Last week Face book went down as well as several other sites. Some are in trouble and trying to fix or hide things quickly.
