That is a cute tree Denise!

Here is a card for Valentine’s Day a friend from Colorado sent me and did not get bent in the mail

It is about 2 feet tall.
I had to share it. I have never seen a card that big.

Debbie I keep up with merit badges and must say your mixed-berry jelly made with Chill-Over powder looks great. Well done.

Sara, thank you! It turned out really well. I would probably use it for more jam making in the future since it uses so much less sugar and tastes good!

Saw my mystery bird this morning. Annie alerted me that it was in one of my neighbor's trees. It was just before true light and with the rain it was hard to make out what he is. All I could see was a large bird form and predator beak. His feathers were all puffed out so I couldn't tell if he was owl or hawk. When I wasn't looking he flew away.

Sara, I saw a hawk last week, while watering horses. It was on top of a pipe gate device. My son welded pipe frame work for every gate, wide enough and talk enough for tractors to go through. So the hawks feel safe way up there, and they can see a great distance. The other place I frequently see them is on top of the REA electric poles. I hope they have a protected place to escape this cold drizzle.

We see a lot oof hawks out here - almost every day. Buzzards, too. I don't know where they shelter in this cold weather.

I have some chill over powder and never used it. Maybe I will try some jam to use it.

The recipe I used was in the little folder that came with the chill over powder. It used 4 cups of crushed fruit, 2 cups of sugar and 2 packets of powder I think. It made a little over 4 pints.

We see a lot of bald eagles here. There are many nests around the area here.
I'm sure sure with all the farm fields they find lots to prey on.

I have been using ChillOver powder for the past few years for most of my jams with very good results. I like it because I can use less sugar. HOwever, for some reason, it would not work this past Summer with Wild Plums. I had to throw out my first batch and made a second with regular pectin. That was the first time I ever had the problem.

Winnie, if that happens again, you could freeze the juice in small serving sizes, then try using your plum juice as a plum sauce. Thicken it with cornstarch or ??? When you get ready to serve it over a cheesecake slice(s). I think it would be great with pancakes or crepes or meats...
We love wild plums.

Enjoying the snow day here. It has only let up for about 15 minutes so far today. I'm enjoying all the birds at my kitchen window today. Did some piddling here and there and accomplished a few things. Just enjoying the day and how pretty the snow looks coming down.
