I have finished cleaning through my sewing and crafting and found my unfinished items that I want to work on this year. Some are small handwork things and others are things like quilts.

My first project is a quilt my daughter started for her daughter and with the new baby hasn't had time to finish .

Put these in my planner so I can keep on track.

Denise my day planner helps me to stay focused too.

Today I started The Egg Basket Murders - a very short story.

Have my applique pieces pinned to the background fabric so I hope to sew them in place today. Then I can add Jill's wool yarn to the sheep. Excited about this project but still unsure about how to add the wool.

On the back burner are my 2019 FarmGirl Jubilee projects.

I too use my daily planner to help me stay on track and remember other appointments.

Recently, I was doing a lot of cleaning out and sorting of closet and storage stuff. With that mostly behind me now, I have been working on my swaps and reading some of the many books that interest me. Also, I have a few knitting projects started and trying to get those shepherded along as well. Nothing big or unusual, but it is fun to start new projects and enjoy completing them.

Yesterday I switched out the old kitty litter box for a better one. Of course that meant I had to sweep and mop the floor. My kitchen got mopped too, second time in three days.I mention that because a month or so ago I could not mop at all. So the turmeric is helping me...although I noticed my ribs hurt during the night. Slowly I'm getting things sorted. This afternoon it was my husband's chest. I told him he is sock poor. He has around fifty pair. It is a good thing my uncle built that chest with big wide, deep drawers. He made it for my aunt, my mother's eldest sister, probably around 1930. I also have a sofa table he built for grandma.

Marilyn, my husband has taken turmeric for years. He thinks that it really helps with pain and stiffness in his joints.

I think it helps. I really do. I still have those days...usually several strung together when I can't accomplish much...But I'm better. Thank God!

I am going to check into Turmeric for certain!
I got my Christmas tree packed up and all stored away upstairs! I usually don't get that done until Super Bowl Sunday! That's the time my family teases me that I get it done by! LOL! I can't get in a hurry if I want to! LOL!
I want to catch up Lily June's Scrapbook and try and get some sewing done. Jigsaw puzzles are taking up my spare time right now. I enjoy them since I have not done them in years and in this cold weather!. Some Januarys I worked in my flower beds in my spare time, not this year! My Aunt Judy is passing along her puzzles as she finishes them. Let me know if anyone would like one passed along to you. This one was fun, but took some time. I just work on when I feel like it and keep a table cloth over it so the Cats won't lose the pieces!

Connie, that is a really neat puzzle!! I haven't worked on a jigsaw puzzle in years!! My Mom used to keep one in the basement and put it together while she was doing laundry loads. That is if she wasn't quilting on her frame that was set up!! LOL!! That woman always had her hands busy doing something.

Winnie,
That's how my mom was too. Always keeping busy.

Connie, that's an awesome puzzle. I love to do them and I have quite a few I haven't even opened yet. I enjoy doing them in the winter evenings.

We had the most beautiful January day today. Just a tiny bit of wind and about 59°. When I went to the mail box then to the barn to clean it and water horses I was humming a tune. Absentmindedly! Finally I stopped and thought , what song is this?
Playmate come out and play with me,
And bring your dollys three!
Climb up my Apple tree,
Look down my rain barrel,
Slide down my cellar door
And we'll be jolly friends forever more!

I haven't sung that song since the girls were young, but today I sang it to the horses, dogs and myself! It made me happy!!!

Haven't thought about that song in awhile Marilyn. Isn't it funny how something will pop into our minds like that?

I've never heard the song before. Wished I had it's a very nice song.

The wool pieces are appliqued - now to attaché Jill's wool yarn. I'll wait for a morning when I am having a good day to start. I know I will begin at the bottom of the sheep and work upward. I want it to look like a heirloom shaggy long hair sheep on the Scottish moors.

Sara we used to do that song as a hand clapping rhyme when I was little. That words were a little different than Marilyn's but there was also a second verse.
It went: Oh my dear playmate, I can't come play with you.
My dolly has the flu, boo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo.
I have no rain barrel I have no cellar door,
But we'll be jolly friends for ever more more more

Perhaps it was a song from our parents era, and they taught us! I have no idea where I learned it, but probably from my mother.
My mother could still sing the little welcome song that her first grade teacher, in a little one room school, sang to each child as they entered the classroom every morning. She was born in 1916, and died in 1997, one day before her 81st birthday!

I love that song! I had a 4th grade teacher who loved to sing! We had a song we sang while waiting for the 3 0'clock Bell to ring to go home. It was called "Birds in the Wilderness" We would get all of our books and coats from our lockers which was in the back of the classroom. We would have about 2 minutes waiting for the bell. So Mrs. Bean would start singing and we would join in," Here we sit like Birds in the Wilderness waiting for the bell to ring, Waiting for the bell to ring, Ring-a-ling! Waiting for the bell to ring, Here we sit like birds in the Wilderness waiting for the bell to Ring! The Bell would sound and if we were in the middle of the song we would sing it out the door!

Could be Marilyn. Dad was 92 when he passed so it's hard to tell how old that little song was.
Connie, your teacher knew how to keep everyone from getting antsy waiting for the bell to ring.
