Just wanted to wish all of my sisters a Happy New Year! Brad and I just got home from the "big city" an hour away...went to Mass and he got a haircut...stopped for a nice Mexican dinner on the way home. Glad to be home where it's warm and safe off of the roads. We won't be staying up until midnight...I'll probably wake up at some point tonight and see that it's 2019. I live such an exciting life! haha!
Hope all of you are well and can't wait to see what fun things we can work on together in the coming year!

How is everyone's January going? Any big plans? Next week Sammi turns 10! She has a whole week of food requests, lol. This year I am trying to make birthdays a bigger deal! I'm also working on planning a snowman day... I've figured out some food, but I'm not sure what else to do... right now I'm thinking snowman pancakes for breakfast, snowman pizza for dinner, and snowman popcorn for dessert while watching a movie... Anyone have any other suggestions???

Happy New year everyone! Hope all is going well for everyone in their new year. We've already had some sicknesses but hopefully all that is over now. I am planning to do one room a month to get the house in order this year. Including the basement and garage. We need to downsize and I am finally getting to the place where I have done enough that it is now manageable for me to do each room this way. I feel like I am constantly wondering where this "stuff" all comes from. LOL! I know I am my own worst enemy. Hoping to hop on with some of the badges being worked on too!

Denise, I think that stuff multiplies on its own while we're sleeping!
I have been cleaning things out this week. I started on my clothes closet and have been going through my fabric storage. My tastes in quilting have changed over the years and some things I put away to do just no longer interest me. I am going to gift them to someone else. I've been asking myself how I would feel if "this" was gone...and if I feel relieved, it's going!

Debbie,
That sounds like a good way to do it. I still haven't touched my craft stuff yet. I need to. It is tiring when I think about all of it. Contemplating a move does motivate me a bit.

I guess I'm a packrat, because I save fabric scraps, ripped jeans, old flannel shirts, etc. Every time I give away my crafting stuff...I end up buying more......But now that Hadlee has her own stuff, well maybe I can give some things up.
But first I must clean house. Denise, I like your one room each month plan! I wish I had more energy. Perhaps I will ask God to help me...yes I think that is a great idea. I realize He is quite busy...But He has such wonderful ideas.

I actually just went through my fabric and scraps a few weeks ago. I have 2.5 trash bags full that I am giving my mom. I'm amazed at how much I still have left!

Marilyn - wellllll she kinda lives close enough, lol. They have bought a house about 2 hours away.... but they only live there here and there throughout the year. They still have a house in MD and one in TN as well, so they travel between the three. But it will be nice to visit with them next Saturday. They got to SD about a week ago and are leaving early to mid February.

Hi girls! I hope everyone is well. I was on MaryJane's website looking around and I didn't see a calendar for this year! What's up with that? I'm terribly behind on the calendar situation. I usually get a lunaria for the kitchen and I thought, a MaryJane's Farm for my office, but now.. I don't know what I'll do. I'm not even getting the lunaria this year because I'm not thrilled with the pictures. I don't have a problem with artistic nudity but sometimes it's just like... ok, can we just get some clothes people?? :)

I can't believe we are already three weeks into the new year! My gracious has this month flown by!!!! Today I am hoping to take all the Christmas decoration down. It is time!!! I've enjoyed having them up, but they have been up for almost two months. I'm ready for a change of scenery! They are calling for a snow storm starting around noon, so today will be a great day for just enjoying the weather while cleaning, changing the decoration up, rearranging furniture, and overseeing the kids' school. Yup - I'm looking forward to whatever today holds <3

I love threads like this because others motivate me to do things in my home. The weather has actually given us a break today. Even though it is still cold the sun is shining! Always gives me a bit of energy to getting going.

So today started off pretty rough! We have spent the last few hours working to save one of our bucks... again. Hoping what we are doing will help him pull through. We had gone out to the barn this morning, and he was laying on the ground unable to move. His body temp had dropped drastically again. We are doing our best to get it up!!! It is days like today that I wonder why we have a homestead!

On Shannon, I'm sorry your buck is struggling. Could you bring him inside...to a warm spot? We have friends who had a dairy for many years. Frequently in the winter there was a baby calf in the utility room. She put down feed bags, etc. To catch the mess. She saved their lives. It was just too cold for them in the barn...which was enclosed.

Oh Shannon so sorry to hear one of your bucks is having trouble. Sure hope you can get him warmed up again. I know many who take their farm animals in if possible to care for them. How big is he? I remember on the farms back home it was not unusual to see a calf in the utility or mudroom trying to bring them back to health.
