I'd like to welcome Kristi to the hen house as soon as Brian gets it set up.

Kristi just a couple of things. I will be sending you a SPG welcome packet.
There are also a couple of posts for you to check out on the bulletin board so be sure to check those out.
If you have any questions please feel free to email me.
I think you will enjoy it here. So welcome, welcome!!

What is Kristi's last name? Can we have a little more info please?

I'm confused. You told Kristi to check out some posts on the bulletin board, but there is only one post there - the Hen Honcho rules. I thought that I have seen other topics there previously. If so, what happened to all the topics?

Linda,
I thought I would let Kristi introduce herself when she gets in the henhouse.
Also the only topics that will show up will be the ones that haven't been seen since the last time a member visited that topic. I can see 3 and for some reason that is all. Previously, I have been able to see more of them

Hmm, I just went to the bulletin board from my laptop as opposed to my phone and I can see a lot of the previous pages of topics there. Not sure why that is though.

I contacted Brian as she is in the henhouse but for some reason when she posts and hits submit it doesn't go through. Hoping it will be fixed soon so she can join in.

Woohoo...I finally have access to respond to the post. Thank you all for the warm welcomes. I'm excited to be part of the group!

I am Kristi Connolly (kristina72). I live in Cordova, TN (for the last 5 years) and got married March 17, 2017 to my high school sweetheart. We found each other after 20+ years of being apart. We live in town so we have a small yard and we dabble at a garden. I wish I had a green thumb. I have been successful at tomatoes, okra, and squash. We didn't plant anything this year however we did end up with 4 tomato plants that came up on their own. Hoping to spend some time cleaning and clearing out a better area for our raised beds for next year.

I work from home as a Financial Analyst for an IT company. I've done the same type of work for 21 years. Through no changes on my part that has been with 5 companies because of buy-outs, mergers, etc. The running joke is what company will we be next year.

We have 2 furbabies. A deaf Cocker Spaniel named Coco and a blind Shih-tzu named Lucy. They are a handful but bring us so much joy.

I love to read. I am a bibliophile and have stacks of books in every room and 3 book cases full of books. I volunteer at my local library branch and love being around all of the books and looking for new authors.

I like to try new art/craft projects. I took a painting class a couple of weeks ago and hope to get back to some of the art that I enjoyed years ago.

Can't wait to get to know all of you and take part in this group.

Thank you for adding me Denise.

So glad to meet you Kristi and I enjoyed learning about you. I live in town too in a small house on a small lot. I garden in four raised beds and containers with a few plants in the ground. I'm single and live with my two and half year old companion and projector Annie a German Shepard-Rhodesian ridgeback hound dog.

Good to meet you to Sara! My raised beds are very neglected right now and overgrown. I didn't do so good with containers but will be taking notes and learning from everyone here on how to do it better next year. I bet Annie is a beautiful dog and well loved.

When it comes to growing plants in containers one of the main things is to know the root system of the plant. Long roots call for a deep pot - swallow roots usually spread horizontally so they usually do best in an oblong or rectangle shallow pot. My spearmint is thriving in a vintage rusty enamelware roasting pan. I put drainage holes in it with a hammer and nail.

Sara - Thank you for the tips! I can't wait to get some items planted. I have several commercial grade pickle buckets that I used for tomatoes last year that I want to try to use again. I think my lack of attention (watering) killed those.

Welcome Kristi to our HenHouse!! I am looking forward to hearing more about your ideas, interests and Farmgirl projects too. We enjoy a wonderful comradship here at the HenHouse and are happy to add another Farmgirl voice to the mix. You mentioned that you live in a very small town. I am curious to know a bit about the history of it and what attracted you to the location. Learning about little towns across our country is an interest of mine because I think we can gather so much from it's history and it is fun to see what can be now added to the area to revive the little town again.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes!!! I am very excited to be part of the group. I live in town (a suburb of Memphis TN) so I have a small yard. I wish I had a bigger yard to dedicate to a bigger garden and some chickens....but unfortunately our HOA doesn't allow for "farm animals". I moved here to be closer to my sweetie. We were 6 hrs away from each other and I took the leap to move here so that we could be together again. It was a good move because it resulted in us getting married last year :)

Connie - We did do a swap some time back, I don't remember what the theme was either.
