Are there any ideas for incorporating Roosters into projects yet? Pin cushions, pot holders made with rooster fabrics, place mat, table runner maybe? Just throwing ideas out there.

Are we still on board for a SPG Jubilee henhouse activity? Just curious!

Yes, I would be interested to hear about any projects too. Would that translate into a swap here or just a project? I know that we have all gone nuts over at the main forum for those adorable mini aprons and adding them to our Jubilee decorating.

Winnie, what do you have in mind when you think of a project? I know what I think of and I want to know if we are on the same page. To me a project would be something we do for ourselves or a neighbor/friend/family. Example a gift basket for others or something as simple as flying our aprons. Do you remember the excitement for the first Jubilee with all the talk of apron flying? Just had an idea. May make me a couple of mini aprons to put on plant stakes and fly them over my 2vBoston ferns on the front porch. Better get cracking.

That's a great idea, Sara. I'm thinking of an outdoor flag with an apron and chicken on it.

Working on the mini aprons for ferns today. I'm starting with the poles to put the aprons on. Since the ferns are large I need 2' poles to go into the pot and stand above the ferns. I broke narrow bamboo poles to the correct length. Will put two to a pot about 4-6" apart. Tack or hot glue heavy twine to poles and hang the aprons with mini clothespins. Because of the high winds that blow across my porch I may have to glue the aprons & clothespins to the twine.

So I just looked over all these posts and it looks like an idea for a swap of sorts was posted about swapping chicken recipes.... Are we still doing that???

Shannon I remember us talking about it but nothing was ever settled. No one volunteered to host the swap and no criteria was set up so we could be working on it. I guess interest in the idea just faded away.

Sara, I do love that idea of doing individual projects for the Jubilee. The mini aprons seem to be sort of part of the larger MJF community for this year's common idea.

How about we share chicken recipe ideas here at the HenHouse? Shannon, you could start a new topic for the recipe contributions here and we all could add our ideas. Chicken is so versatile and a great meat for so many occasions.

I will start a separate topic closer to the Jubilee weekend to share any projects that we want to here.

If anyone else has some ideas, let's formalize them during these last two weeks.

Winnie I like the idea of projects and posting recipes for the henhouse. Does seem like we have a little bit of mini-apron mania going on.

I finished my two mini aprons to fly over my ferns and they are holding up in 16 mph winds. Posted my chicken recipe so I am finished with my Jubilee projects - that is unless something really neat comes along that is easy breezy to do.

Marilyn I was surprised by the temperature today too. My poor potted herbs don't know which end is up anymore - 80s one day - low 50s the next.

My two mini aprons flying over the two ferns are still there this morning so the white glue and mini clothespins are holding up to our Texas winds. Yea!!!

Today or tomorrow I will hang my 2015 clothes pin apron at the front door with one of my vintage sunbonnets. That will give me two weeks to enjoy them then take them down after Jubilee Sunday.

Yesterday I went to the first day of our Farmer's Market and boy was it crowded. I bought two loaves of bread from the Paris Bakery, kale, Swiss chard, beets, carrots fresh out of the ground, mixed heirloom cherry tomatoes, and red green onions. My sister, Bobbie, and I are going to sister Betty's this morning. She lives 30 min from Paris. I'm taking half of the bread and all of the tomatoes and onions to her. They will make a nice Jubilee gift.

Your sister will be excited to receive your gift, Sara. My neighbor stopped yesterday and told me to come up and pull some onions. I did not have time yesterday, hopefully later this week.

I had a good Jubilee day and one of the things I did was a little refreshing my memory on Texas history. In seventh grade Texas history I first learned about Quanah Parker. I hadn't thought of him in years when while tracking my order of heirloom beans from California there it was the beans were in Quanah, TX. His mother, Cynthia Parker, was captured by Indians. He grew up to be a Comanche warrior, chief, and statesman who help bring peace. He was a friend of Teddy Roosevelt. If you want to read more about him here's a link.

Good work Sara. A bit of history is always fascinating.
Next year will be a better jubilee time for me. I was a bit interrupted this year. I am glad you told us about the things you did to celebrate Sara. Thank you. My celebration was Through your stories.
