gallicide - killer of fowl. We are weary of the fox and his gallicidic tendencies towards our poultry.

Yesterday's word was myopic (lack of discernment or long range perspective planning. Have you ever seen young myopic people in love?
Today's word is assiduous (diligent). He was assiduous, not in his work, but in avoiding the bosses' notice.

gleed - hot coal. The gleed from last night's fire made it possible for me to start the fire this morning without a match.

Three words that have to do with calmness. Halycon-The garden is a halcyon place unless you are a bug getting eaten by another bug. A calm person is equable or phlegmatic.
Does it bother anyone else that our language doesn't have a different word for plural you like other languages do? How can we show a you is plural without using a "ya'all" or "yunz", which I think are both slang?

1. Gamin - street urchin
2. ganosis - reduction of shininess in marble (I find it incredibly interesting there is a special word to describe this)
3. garbology - study of garbage (I find this one rather humourous!)

Yes Andrea, it does!!! The English language is so.... weird and difficult! I must admit to saying y'all quite a bit and a lot of my extended family, especially my aunts on my my mom's side, say younz.(That is how they spell it in letters!)

Joyce - love garbology ;)

I am behind in posting my words for each day. Packing is taking up a lot of my time again! But here are my words for each day...
21st: juxtaposition - being close together or side by side, especially for comparison purposes
22nd: malapropism - the habit of using words ridiculously, especially by confusing words that sound similar
23rd: magnanimous - generous in forgiveness of an insult or injury; free from petty resentfulness and vindictiveness
24th: obfuscate - to confuse, bewilder, or stupify

Invective=an insulting or abusive criticism. Why is it that an invective comment can cloud a sunny day?

Here's two for yesterday and today:

1)genarch - head of the family. It's rather fun to use this one when referring to my husband throughout the day :D
2)geniophobia - fear of chins. I'm curious - are any of you geniophobia's? I've never heard of this before.

25th - ostentatious: pretentious or conspicuous show, trying to impress.
26th - pedantic: ostentatious in one's learning (ironically, I used the previous day's vocabulary word in today's definition)
27th - pedagogy: the art or science of teaching (not sure how they came up with this word!!!)
28th - sardonic: bitter or scornful derision, mocking

I really enjoy reading younz words for the day! I can't believe I haven't just jumped in to try to do this with you. Honestly, I don't think I could keep up with y'all.

Goodness - I can't believe I forgot to post here my words for the last four days! I've been having fun choosing and using words :)

26-gilderoy - proud person
27-ginnel - narrow alley between two high buildings
28-glabrous - hairless, smooth
29-glebe - church land granted to clergymen

Shannon, I teach piano pedagogy, and when I say that I do, most people don't understand what pedagogy means, so I was excited to see you chose that word :)
