Hello everyone,

I just wanted to give you a heads up that you will be receiving something in the mail. It's a secret.

Please make sure you look way inside the envelop before you chuck it in the garbage. The oversize envelop is part of many mistakes I made with this "secret" project. I only realized my mistake once the envelops had been addressed, stamped and sealed. So I took the time to take the stamp off each envelop (apply glue) and re-address it only to realize tonight, as I was stuffing the "secret" item, that I could have used a much smaller envelop. Sigh!

Some of you will not be receiving the "secret" item because of one of my many mistakes. I had to re-order this product 3 times and now a forth time! Sigh! I don't know where my brain was. I apologize in advance for those that will receive the "secret" item late.

I do hope you like the "secret". Catch you later! Cheers!

I think we can talk about it. I sent the "secret" project to 12 henhouse members, which was all I could do until I receive my order.

Winnie, not a dumb question at all. I should have included some instruction. It is the same type of printable fabric that MJF uses except that I left the plastic backing on. Just peel off the backing. Before you take the backing off, I would suggest that you cut it to size. Leaving at least a 1/4 inch seam allowance, this way you can fold the fabric under and sew it on. If you fuse it on, you will not need a seam allowance.

Also, as you know, I made lots of miss takes on this and for those reasons, I had to be frugal about the fabric usage (yes I will be on my fourth order of the printable fabric). If you want to hand embroider it (in that case do not trim the hexagon and remove the backing), you will need to baste extra fabric around it (so that it fits in a reasonable size hoop) and stitch away. Once stitched, remove the basted fabric and do like all you would for all your other hexagons/merit badges. I may do a post with photos to show you what I mean.

I just thought it would be nice to include a henhouse identifying badge along with all the others. BTW, this badge/project was approved by MJF, so it's official!

What a great group we are! Thank you for your contributions.

I have been off seeing my daughters, grands , great grands and families for a few day! Did some sewing and worked on Hubby's 75th Birthday Party with our girls. Since we live 3 hours away, I have to take advantage of every minute I get to spend with them :)! We got lots accomplished - yay! Granddaughter wants me to come back as she is having trouble with the quilt we were working on :(! Our daughter, her mom does not sew, but her other grandma does and she lives close!
Anyway, I came home to my nice surprise. Love it, thanks so much for all your work in this great project! I appreciate it and the directions as well :)!
Hugs, Ruth

Morning Carole, Thank you so much for the badge, it is very special. And to Darlene too for the pretty art work and to your daughter for all of her help. This was a big project to put together but the badges are so pretty. Don't know exactly what I will do with mine, what is everyone else doing?

Ok, I'm a bit perplexed. Perhaps I am not reading the comment rights. Did any of you received from Mary Jane Farms a welcome package when you first joined that included this fabric badge?

This is a fabric hexagon badge that identifies you as being a member of the Sisterhood. The badge I created with Darlene's drawing (minus the solid line around the dash line - you have no idea how lacking I am in graphic art knowledge! lol) is to identify us as being a member of the SPG henhouse.

For those of you who have earned badges, do you have the one from the sisterhood sewn along with your merit badges? Just curious. Not sure what I will do with my merit badges. I like the idea of placing them on a apron. I just haven't found the apron design that I like.

Hope this clarifies things for you. I just thought it would be nice to have the SPG logo along with the sisterhood one. Cheers!

So far I have all three apron levels (one badge, different borders to add) and two levels of the Jubilee badge. I added a backing to my original MJF badge, but I, too, have not yet embroidered my other ones. Trying to decide what to add them to so that I will actually wear it. Maybe a denim or farmgirl-fabric apron or vest? A nice roomy bag to carry when I shop? I also am thinking of a way to add them to (dangle from) a "waistband" or a transparent apron so that I can wear them over any outfit. LOL! I often think out of the box. LOL!

Yes Carole. That badge and the materials come when you join farmgirls. I embroidered mine and made it into a pin-on badge.

I like the idea of putting it on a special tote.
I would use that more.
Thanks again Carole!

I received my envelope when I got home. Thank you and yes I received a welcome packet with a MaryJane's badge when I joined. It is with my merit badges. Not sure where I will put the henhouse badge. The apron is a great idea. In fact I have some wonderful chicken fabric I could use to dress up the apron that would be very appropriate to use for the henhouse badge.
