Thank you, Erin for inviting me to join! I had looked at this chapter and was happy to see how encouraging and active members were, but was too shy to ask. I am 50, recently a Grandma, and going through a transition in life. A year ago I was juggling three part time jobs and when home helping my 53 yr old brother learn to walk and use the toilet again. When he got better enough I was back to working six days a week, often ten to twelve hour days as I have for the past 15+ yrs. Needless to say, the homestead has been neglected! I have finally wised up! And have been blessed with a different position! Now I will be home a lot more and can improve our soil, expand our sheep flock and catch up on chicken butchering. Starting this Spring, I want to provide each of our four nearby kids (fifth lives a few hrs away and works on a farm)with a bag of veggies, healthy bread, eggs and a bouquet each week till next Fall. I also want to expand volunteering at the county jail and seeing if God will have me become a chaplain there. I am excited about working on badges and getting to know more of you. Thank you for helping me, I have already learned much here and hope to encourage you as well.

Arghhh, just when I thought I would have more time to get my homestead in order, and well, have a life, they changed my job! I work for a small town and found out at the last public meeting that I will be on a fixed schedule.
I was dumbfounded! The tv camera was literally rolling! Asking for prayer as I approach the bosses about the fact that I was not asked in private, salary etc was not discussed. I do not want this schedule, I want to get homestead in order. I want to be able to be here when my ewes-esp the first time mothers- give birth. I can't just walk away. I am main breadwinner-DH stocks shelves at box store.

Prayers as you visit with those who made a major decision about your life, without consulting you.

Thanks! What they did was take away my flex time! Its been over 20 yrs since I had to show up long term on time. Been here 11.5 yrs. Started the discussion yesterday with head of personnel and felt mocked when I explained how my husband and I share a jeep to get to work and he said, "And you set your life up like this?" ha, ha... There will have to be another meeting within a few days with all the bosses, so really appreciate your prayer. I am not going into this alone...

Praying Andrea. Hoping you can get this straightened out. A raise might be in order so you could have the possibility of getting a second vehicle. Just thinking here. Prayers that with more people with you on this some reasonable result will come about.

Thanks all! Yes, after new furnace and a couple of other things will look into second car. We set aside money each week to replace the jeep we have now. It is 16 yrs old and just passed inspection for under fifty bucks! I love jeeps! We will save up until we can pay cash. I am not the kind of person who can take the stress of credit card balances, car loans, etc. Only one we are paying on is to the hospital for my gallbladder surgery last year.
