After Christmas, I was able to start back on making myself a pair of wool socks from wool purchased two years ago. I got side tracked knitting gifts for everyone else!! LOL!! I will post a photo when completed.

That is one thing I want to do, Winnie - knit a pair of socks. I have yarn and needles, but need the perfect Simple pattern. I love hand knit and CSM (Circular Sock Machine) knit socks, but the hand knit are preferable. How long does it take you to make a pair of socks? My other problem is that the knitting has to fit in between my quilting. LOL! I have so so many quilting UFOs, and so so much fabric.

My projects are mostly fabric related. I plan to host several fabric-related swaps this year, the first just closed signups for 10" Valentines fabric squares. There will be others related to squares, strips, bricks, and scrappy blocks of fabric, and a finished item or two thrown in. My swaps have had excellent turnout, and I hope that continues.

I also have two topics I want to start. One is in the stitching room and is a Virtual Quilt Show topic, where those of us who quilt can post pictures of our quilts. I have quite a few that would get us started, I just haven't gotten around to the topic. The other is a topic where farmgirls can post meet-up pictures of themselves with other farmgirls. It is so nice meeting other farmgirls in person and I think it would be nice for others to see pictures of those meet-ups and to encourage others to do the same.

Wow, Linda you have really been thinking and planning. That is great. I finally found the towels I had been purchasing to ruffle and or applique. They were in a tub of fabric. So I will be working on those, more mug rugs and new aprons for me. I have yarn and a pattern for a toboggan cap to knit. Maybe.BUT, first I must finish the house and change bulletin boards at school.

One thing I need to do is spin the roving I got at the fiber fair last Sept. Then of course I must decide what I am going to make out of it.

Finished the rugs on loom so I want to make place mats and probably some towels for Christmas. I am almost finished with my crewel project so I need to get it framed and on the wall.

I started a pair of socks yesterday but I need to make 3 or 4 more pair before next winter. My shawl is coming along well hope to have it done soon.

Want to make some new pj's and maybe a gown or two.

Right now that if all I can think of but I'm sure I will come up with more.

All of you are amazingly talented and I appreciate being able to hear about all you accomplishment. Thanks for sharing.

I'm about half done with my hairpin lace afghan.

Smile a lot everyone will wonder what you are up to.

WooHoo, so many wonderful projects already in the planning around SPGs!!

Linda, I like your idea of the two new topics. It is always fun to see what people have completed. The creativity of Farmgirls here abounds!

To answer the question about knitting socks, if you can knit in the round, there are some easy patterns for tube socks. This is how I got stared . However, I took a class for knitting fitted socks at my local yarn store and it was totally what I needed. I would have never understood or figured out how to make the heel, gusset part without some one on one help. My knitting is kinda slow, especially with sock yarn which requires a size 2-3 needle. Right now, I guess it takes me somewhere about 20 hours to complete a pair.. If I didn't make any mistakes, it would take less but inevitably I mess up and have to rip some parts out and do over again.

I love hand knitted socks, and could never make a pair! I so admire anyone that can knit or crochet! Between fused fingers, and Essential Tremors, I just can't do it :( But it doesn't keep me from loving the "art" and Talent of those that can! I can sew, so that is what I do. I made both of our girls PJ bottoms this past week :)! Now on to finish my red and white quilt that I started a very long time ago. Thanks for the motivation gals :)!
Hugs, Ruth

I have knit sweaters in the round, not socks, but I doubt it is much different, just smaller around. LOL! To me, 20 hours doesn't seem like much. LOL! Maybe I'll have to try it. I can give up quilting (maybe??) for 20 hours. I just need a good pattern - I already have some yarn. I've got some sock books, and an online pattern someone suggested. I'm determined this will be my year to knit socks. Wish me luck. LOL!

I'm with you Connie! I have quilts to finish, cross stitch projects and who knows what else but I did manage to downsize some and the unfinished ones are all in their own containers with everything I need to finish except time. But I am going to pick one to work on and as time permits I am going to get them done. Writing them in my planner.

I was going to start a sweater coat for myself using the wool I bought last summer in Martha's Vineyard. But, I saw the most beautiful shawl pattern for my daughter's birthday this month, and then there'll be a sweater for Lily's birthday next month, and a gift for my cousin's grandbaby coming this summer. Then . . . My sweater coat?!

Lots and lots of fun projects! I actually just touched on some of the things I plan to do this year on the Fireside chat... But will add here that I want to start crocheting dishcloths... One a month! This comes from someone who cannot crochet worth two cents. Lol! I am also going to be working on the temperature quilt.

I started or should say I tried to start knitting socks on a knitting loom but had to get directions on You Tube to learn but it too so long to get 3 or 4 rows and I had to put it down and there it sits. I will have to try again. but want to get other things done first like getting rid of stuff. That is a slow process but I need to do it. I want to do so many things my mind is all over the place so I don't get things finished. This year I hope, :D

hugs

I have been trying to get some things gone too, Darlene. It is frustrating, and time consuming.( I had big plans for this long weekend, but PAIN, decided to take over. I will get a shot next week and a few days later the pain will be much less. Hopefully MLK weekend I will be more productive.) My granddaughters have "called" so much of my stuff, I cannot sell or even give it away. Little by little I will reorganize my craft and sewing supplies and that will help.

Thank you all, sweet sisters for your prayers and sweet comments. God has always been faithful to get me going again after one of these bouts or flares. They sure interrupt my plans though. Best wishes and God's blessings to all of you.

Does the shot hurt when you get it? Maybe a prayer before you go will ease it or at least just make you feel better. Let me know.

Have a good day!
