As we are all winding down for the celebration of gratitude, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved one a joyful Thanksgiving. We have so much to be grateful.

How are you planning to celebrate?

Myself, we are headed down to Goshen, NY to be with our aunts, uncles and cousins on my husband's side of the family. It makes for quite a large crowd, we're talking around 35 people (plus or minus), depending who shows up!

And, as a friendly reminder, Christmas will be here in 30 days, 10 hours and 10 minutes!

Enjoy the day!

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, Carole. My boyfriend and I are hosting my son and his wife and 3 grands at my house. We are not having the usual turkey, but a pork loin, stuffing, broccoli-rice-cheese casserole, sweet potatoes, corn pudding casserole, rolls, deviled eggs, salad, a chocolate mint cake, and pies. Gotta have pies so I have leftover to eat for breakfast on Friday. LOL!

Happy Thanksgiving :) It is just our immediate family again this year. How I miss the big family gatherings!!! Since it is just us, we are doing a smaller turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked corn, and cranberry sauce. I might do leveled eggs earlier as an appetizer, as well as some fresh veggies to munch on. Dessert will be pies. In the morning we will deliver pies to the local police and fire departments :) That is one of our family's favorite Thanksgiving and Christmas traditions!!!

Linda - could I get the recipes for your broccoli-rice0cheese casserole, corn pudding casserole and your chocolate mint cake? They sound really yummy! I'm trying a new recipe for the baked corn, as I cannot find my normal recipe :(

Happy Thanksgiving, Shannon. I will get those recipes out to you. The cake is Michelle's, so will have her send you the recipe. The corn pudding is one of Ed's and he said I can send it. The broccoli cheese rice casserole is just a combo, but I will write it up for you.

Taking a few minutes to rest a bit before I head back to work. Wouldn't want my boss to get annoyed! lol

Linda, good thinking on the left over pie! Wouldn't want to miss a pie for breakfast opportunity. I'll have to sneak a piece home! My aunt from Texas is coming up. I hear she makes a mean pecan pie .... yummy my favourite!

Not sure what the menu will be, as everyone brings a dish. I could look it up on the shared google doc, but I like surprises! lol Turkey for sure and Swedish meatballs (my dh made those).

My MIL always makes a turkey soup after dinner and the kids just gobble it up (as if they didn't have enough to eat). She does make a mean turkey soup. I/we figured out her secret, roasting the carcass before making the soup. My dh (he's the cook by the way, I love to cook but I pick my arguments lol ) roast the chicken carcass also and makes a mean chicken soup. It really brings out the flavour.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I have been cooking all day to get ready for tomorrow. Our menu will be Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole ( not my first choice of a veggie, but a request) fresh candied yams, seven layer salad, cranberry whip salad and fresh cranberry sauce, lefsa, dinner rolls, relish tray, pumpkin and caramel apple pie. I will make a cheese ball tonight and set out for those who are sure they will perish before dinner is ready. It is a day of love, laughter, games, story telling and being truly Thankful for all that we have.

I want to wish all my sweet sisters a Happy Thanksgiving. It will be just Terry and I this year we decided to stay home. But still having the big dinner, then put in the freezer for Christmas. It is kind of warm and cloudy here. Terry already has Ham and Baked Beans done, I am fixing Cornbread dressing, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, broccoli and rice and cheese casserole and then pumpkin pie. Oh and Pepto-Bismal. LOL!! Love you all !

Happy after Thanksgiving and end of November to all of my farmgirl sisters. We had a nice Thanksgiving dinner with our son and his family. We share the cooking and join together for stuffing ourselves. Then on Friday we drove thirty miles to Granbury. My son had to work, but the rest of us go shopping, eating and looking at fresh trees. I guess I got the cold bug while out and about.
I want to tell all of you how thankful I am for you. I have enjoyed swaps and barters, in the process getting to know you. You have been a blessing to me. Thank you.

Glad everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It was our first one with Lily June! It was a joy!! Mommie and Lily June had too much Turkey, well Mommie did! LOL!! Everyone went shopping that night except Lily June and I played with Sticky Notes!! I did make better use of my Turkey leftovers this year. I made Turkey Noodle Soup this morning! cold and rainy here today!! Good thing about being in West Tennessee. Our Farm Stand down the road still has Home grown Tomatoes and Christmas Trees!

Enjoyed a lovely day with family. We had nine of us here so, not too many. Had turkey and too many trimmings. LOL! Played games with the littles and watched Hallmark movies after they went home.

Connie, what a sweet babe. Love the hat. The soup looks de-lish. It's hard to believe that tomorrow is Dec.1.
