Well, I decided to just jump on in with our next book. Hope many of you will be able to fit reading it into your busy lives! Read by Thanksgiving (hopefully), with an eye to discuss in early December. But we'll see how things flow! :) Our next book will be:

Sheepish: Two Women, Fifty Sheep, and Enough Wool to Save the Planet
by Catherine Friend

What do you do when you love your farm . . . but it doesn’t love you? After fifteen years of farming, Catherine Friend is tired. After all, while shepherding is one of the oldest professions, it’s not getting any easier. The number of sheep in America has fallen by 90 percent in the last ninety years. But just as Catherine thinks it’s time to hang up her shepherd’s crook, she discovers that sheep might be too valuable to give up. What ensues is a funny, thoughtful romp through the history of our woolly friends, why small farms are important, and how each one of us—and the planet—would benefit from being very sheepish, indeed.

Can't wait to read it!

Happy Day!

Amy,

I apologize for not jumping in. I am still not totally finished with the book. However, I did finish my business class, so that will give me a bit more time to read. I should be able to hop right in after Oct 11 (I'm vending at a quilt show and am inundated with stuff to do). I LOVE the book! I like her writing style. Very informative! I am more than half way through!

Thank you for being the book club coordinator!

I got very excited when I stumbled upon this book write-up. It just sounds delightful! I'd like to propose it for our next book. Of course, I'd love to hear other book ideas, too. Whatever we choose, We could read it anytime before the end of the year, the discuss it in January. What do you think? :)

Amy, Sheepish is a wonderful book. I read it a couple of years ago. I will have to check to see if i still have it and give it another read.

This was a great book. Thanks for suggesting it. The part about the electric fence was so funny I almost started crying reading it. That is exactly how people react. Anything about fiber, wool and knitting has got to be a good read. Very entertaining and informative at the same time. I have recommended it to my book club however that did not seem to excite anyone yet. Not many weavers, spinners or knitters in the group so this book may not work.

Thank you again Amy for suggesting it. I loved it.

Hello Everyone,

Since Amy is a tab busy with life, I thought I would chine in and see how you are all doing with the book.

Those of us that are participating, would it be possible to have it finished by the end of December the latest? This way we can look to a new book in January.

Guilty myself of not finishing it sooner (it is funny and a light read) but will have it read soon.
