I thought since we are so close to September that we could have an apple themed swap. Anyone care to join me?

We will have sign up until September 1st, I'll post partners on the 2nd and we can mail out no later then September 12th.

Here are our partners for the swap. Since we have 9 I am going to take 2.

Amy- Winnie
Bonnie- Shannon
Denise- Julie and Ruth
Maryellen- Sherry

I'll do another swap with a pumpkin theme for October, just letting everyone know so you can be thinking about that one.

Please count me in! I had already started some things before Emi was born :) And with it being a c-section, I'm going to be on my bum quite a bit, for a little while... Looking forward to it!

Shannon, I know you didn't want to be recovering from a C-section right now! I hope things will go smoothly with everyone and all stay well until you can get up and going again! Take good care of yourself and rest as much as possible. Does your husband get time off for helping with a new child arrival? Not sure if the military has a policy in place for Fathers.

the military gives ten days of baby leave... unfortunately, that is not ten working days, but rather, ten days... but it will be nice to have him home! He will probably take extra leave as well. (basically vacation time)

Hi all, I want to join in on this swap :)! I know I have been MIA lately, just lots going on in our lives at the moment. But I love Fall and Apples and all that it brings. Getting excited about the cooler weather. We had a little taste of it this week and it was wonderful!

Ruth, I have Blue Ridge, Ga. marked on my weather.com page just so I can watch what is happening in your neck of the woods. I saw where you had a nice little taste of Autumn last week too!! Believe me, if it wasn't a 9 hour drive up to Blue Ridge from here, I was ready to pack a bag and reserve a room somewhere just to take in the cool breezes! And do a visit to Merciers and see if I could come and find you and have a visit!!

So glad to "see" you again here as you have been missed!

Hi Ruth, so glad to see you on here again. Saw that apple pie jam on facebook did you make that. If so, we need the recipe. That just sounds wonderful.

HI Winnie, You are welcome to stay with us! We live about 7 miles from Merciers! As long as you don't mind dogs, you would be good :)! It was real pretty this morning, in the 60s. We went to the Farmer's Market in Blairsville, pretty much a regular routine for us, then to Murphy, NC to Tractor Supply and Lowes. We are only about 6 miles from Tennessee!
Sherry, I did make that Apple Pie Jam, the recipe is on my Pinterest, under canning. There are two recipes, this one only had cinnamon in it. If you make it, you will need to double the amount of apples. It calls for 6 cups, I put in about 9 or 10, when I make the next batch, I will put in 12 cups. I went to the orchard and got 5 different types of apples to make it. Haven't tasted it yet, but will in the morning :)!

So glad to have you joining us Shannon and Ruth. Apple pie jam is one of our favorites. The first year I made it I ended up giving lots of it in Christmas gifts.

Ruth, your Apple Jam sounds delicious!! I have an old recipe here in a book from the 1960s that belonged to my mother. Once good apples are available down here , I plan to try making some. And yes, if I could come up , I would be happy to visit you and the dogs! It sounds like you live in a perfect spot for fun but convenient rural living. I love how you can go to the orchard and select apples for your recipes. It does make a difference in flavor when you select the best varieties for the recipe.

This swap, Denise, is great fun for all of us here in the HenHouse too!! Thank-you. We've been having fun this month talking about early Fall and getting excited about the new upcoming season!
