Oh Julie I sure wouldn't mind having those temperatures already! We have only made it into the high 60's at night here and it is still in the upper 80's but it is supposed to cool down a little bit this week. Lower 80's to maybe upper 70's. The problem we have here with fall is alot like spring. We don't get enough of it before we plunge right into the next season. Even though there are the same amount of days to each season it just seems like spring and fall are just too short.

Dealing with a bit of sinus headaches that last couple of days so I know the temps are changing.

Dad is doing better except for the nasty side effects from the prescription they gave him. I feel bad because he just wants to enjoy his days but it always seems like when he is going along good for a few days, he has trouble with something. He says whoever called them the golden years was crazy.

My brothers were planning to come for a visit at Labor Day but one was in a car accident so he is going for some back treatment and won't be able to make it. Hoping the other one will still come.

Thanks Julie for getting me straight on the names! Somehow I keep thinking Ruth is Sweettea. LOL!! Sometimes, it gets confusing the real names with the farm names and the locations. What a nice change of weather temps for you out there in North Dakota!

Denise, I hope your one brother can make it for Labor Day weekend. Do you like to do anything special when they come? Labor Day weekend is the first big home football game of the season here at the University of Florida so it will be a busy one as we have a new coach this year and hope springs eternal for another SEC championship!!

Haven't heard anything else on mu oldest brother visiting yet. We usually have a picnic. We are in the process of getting another place for my dd and her family to live. We will probably be moving them in by Labor Day or hopefully they will be in by then.
Sherry these sinus headaches do seem to hang on, but I'm grateful because this is the first time I haven't had them all year round here.

The timing is going to be close so I think they will be here with us for a few days. That will be 10 people and 3 dogs(ours). She has two dogs and is looking for someone to look after them or at least one.

Hello everyone,

Taking some time to do a bit of catch up. Always nice to read what everyone is up to. Here things are moving along. Pumpkin is leaving for college this Friday. She is all packed. We will be leaving Friday morning at 5:00 a.m. It will be an up and down.

I've been spending a lot of one on one time with Pumpkin. Last Sunday we went shopping in Albany and visited Build a Bear workshop. We both built our own bear and have each other's heart in them. I thought it was very nice of the lady to have us switch the hearts. Isn't she cute?

Can you guess what I named my bear? Pumpkin! lol It sure will be empty when Pumpkin is off to college. Sigh!

This Thursday I am going out to dinner with friends. It's our monthly "girls night out". It will be nice to catch up on news while enjoying a wonderful dinner by the lake.

Take care everyone.

What a sweet bear. It is hard when your child goes off to College when you are really close. It was hard when my youngest went into the Navy, I learned a lot of Geography when she went though. She is closer in Washington but not close enough but I would rather have them up there than here in California.
Carole

Life goes on and you do learn to adjust.. I miss them still though.

Have a good night.

Hi everyone, it's been really busy as my daughter, Bonnie, finishes up the clinical rounds she did this summer and jumps right back into classes and rounds next week. She's doubling up classes for the next two semesters so she can finish early (Hallelujah!). We're having a few pre-fall cooler days, it feels so refreshing.

Denise, I think your Dad and my Mom should get together. She's always talking about the difficulties of being older. It's so tough for them because they feel the same on the inside. Like that old expression "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak!":) Sounds like your Labor Day will be really fun!

Carole, I'll be thinking about you as you send your daughter off to college. What a happy/sad day that is in a mother's life!

Winnie, I'm not surprised you enjoyed the apple cake :) It's always so nice to have friends around!

Take care everyone, and enjoy the last days of summer!

Happy Day!

What a wonderful little bear Carole! Will be thinking of you.
It was difficult at first when my youngest went to Manhattan for school, but after awhile I realized he was a young man and going to have to deal with some things and needed to learn how to do it for himself. He had never been away from home that long and believe me he learned a lot on how the world works. I think it was a bit different as he rented a room and it was the city which he didn't like at all. You know what they say about taking the boy out of the country... He did very well at school, graduated top of his class so he wasn't deterred by all the other stuff.
I am sure your Pumpkin is going to do well and she will do lots of keeping in touch. Great thing about computers and cell phones! I just think the way you had a wonderful day together and all was making a fantastic memory and I am sure she will give her bear a special place too!
Enjoy your dinner out! It is always nice to get out and spend time with girlfriends.

Amy,
The weather has been great these past couple of days hasn't it? Gives me a boost of energy and makes me want to get things done. Unfortunately 3 of the 4 males that live here do not feel the same way. Oh well.

Darlene,]How are things going there with the fires and all? Praying for rain for those places.

Hope everyone enjoys their day.

Carole, love the cute bear idea! Yes, it will seem so strange when Pumpkin is off to college. It is a huge transition for sure. But, also a joyous time the she is able to have this opportunity to learn and grow in new ways. Good luck with your trip this weekend getting her settled. I have fond memories of getting both of my girls off and running. It seems just like yesterday! We all look forward to hearing updates this fall as she tells you all of the exciting new things happening in her life and your visit up to the college for parents weekend!

Carole will be thinking of you in the days ahead, it is a big adjustment for everyone. I love the bear.

I am taking a day away from the farm today. Traveling a few hours to have lunch with my bff. It is her birthday tomorrow and we haven't seen each other in almost a year, so decided to deliver her card in person. It will be a most enjoyable day spent with lots of laughter.

Fall is right around the corner here, the leaves are changing, the days are getting shorter and the nights are getting cooler. The beautiful sunflowers have shed most of thier petals and now are concentrating on filling thier head with yummy seeds. The blackbirds have become the enemy as we continue to try to deter them from dining in the fields. I often tell my husband a drone would be perfect to dive bomb them. I have finished canning and feezing corn, beans, beets and pickles for the year. We have been enjoying fresh tomatoes for awhile and I have made a few batches of salsa, but will have enough to can tomorrow or Saturday. It is always a busy time of the year, but I love seeing all those jars lining my pantry shelves.
Have a great day everyone.
Hugs
Julie

Hello everyone,

Gorgeous day today in way up northeast NY. The sun is shining and it's not too cold and not too hot! Had my breakfast outside. I have been working diligently at slowing down and taking time to enjoy life. It has been crazy busy for me and I do not like it. I like a slower pace where I don't feel I need a time turner! lol

Darlene, please keep us posted on how you are doing. BTW, did you ever find a car? Perhaps I missed it!

Thank you everyone for your thoughtfulness. I'm excited for Pumpkin. She's going to the school of her choice, studying what she enjoys, and able to do the activities that she loves (figure skating and teaching figure skating to little kids etc.), what more could I ask for? I know that it has been gradual, but it almost seems like she moved into adulthood in a flash! lol Sort of like one day she's a toddler and the next a grown woman! Life is good! So much to be thankful!

Julie, Enjoy your time with you BFF. Always fun to catch up! I'm looking forward to my dinner tonight, relaxing with friends!

I'm still busy with my online class and the shoppe. I've been spending lots of time working the website. I can now where the "website manager" hat! lol Still working on tweaking a few things and I should be all set!

Enjoy your day everyone!

Well I know I put my new car on here somewhere but I can't find it so I will try to post again

It is ok but it has different bells and whistles I am having to learn. But I need to wash it it is very dirty with the wind and smoke.

I am doing ok but really do miss my furbabies.

The weather has been clearer here and I guess in the nearby town today it was very foggy, but it was gorgeoust today. I finally went to the fair and it was pretty fun this year. There was this Russian act with cats and dogs and it was so cute and they even got a cat to jump through a hoop twice. The other two sat at the top of a pole. Cute. Then another place had stunt riders. They were ok and the horses were beautiful.

Anyway I had a fairly good day.

hugs

Darlene,
Your trip to the fair sounds fun! We didn't make it this year. We usually take the grandkids but we just didn't have good timing for things. I love the horses when they have them.

That is a great photo of you and your new car. I'm sure you will get the hang of it all soon. I know how hard it is when we lose the furbabies. Hang in there sweetie.

Hi everyone! Emi is here!!! My water broke Wednesday morning... but no contractions. We finally came to the hospital around 7:30 that night... no contractions. They started me on pitocin around 2 Thursday morning... irregular contractions. So last night, at 1940, Emi was born via c-section, almost 36 hours after my waters ruptured! Because of how long I had been ruptured, we are both being observed for infection. So far everything looks good.
