My husband and I will be visiting Texas for two weeks in the fall and I am wondering if anyone can help me find authors or book titles about Texas. What I am looking for is stories that are fiction but the places are real. For example Dorothea Benton Frank writes totally fiction stories about the low country of South Carolina. I actually go to the restaurants she names, the beaches etc. I think they may call this writing "realistic fiction" not certain, not an English major for sure. Any help would be great. I have actually looked on Amazon but a farmgirls help would sure be better. Thanks in advance. Maryellen

Hi Maryellen, James A. Michener wrote a book called "Texas." I haven't read it yet, but his books usually chronicle the history of a place using fictional characters. I love his books, but they are a commitment! Hope this helps! How I envy you, getting to visit Texas! It's on my bucket list. Can't wait to hear about your trip!

Happy Day!
