Awesome Debbie! I have some I can apply for too... I just need to do it. Ok... for our next badge, we're going to do My Fair Farmgirl. I'll start a new thread for that.

Shannon had suggested to work on some badges that could double as Christmas presents, which I think is a great idea. Here are some options that I would like some feedback on. For now, just focusing on beginner level, unless you already have that and would like to move on to something more challenging...

1. Sew Wonderful - Put together a sewing kit to give to someone for Christmas
2. Aprons - Sew a half apron from a pattern or a kit (2 hour time requirement)
3. Crochet - Crochet simple dishcloths for someone
4. Knitting - A scarf or a dishcloth
5. Homespun Christmas - Make 25% of your Christmas gifts (Recipes from My Fair Farmgirl could be included in this) and 25% of your Christmas ornaments
6. Safe Toys - Make 5 creative beanbags for children in your life, or to donate
7. Scrapbooking - Make a scrapbook for a friend to commemorate a special event
8. Cross Stitch - Make a bookmark or border for a picture frame
9. Origmai - Learn simple folds, make a crane, a plane, or a boat

I listed the ones that I thought would be relatively simple. There are others that would make good Christmas presents. I included the origami because I think it works well for homespun Christmas. I have a tree I put up in my dining room that has all origami ornaments. Let me know what you think of these, and we don't all have to pick that same ones. Maybe we could just start a Christmas presents thread and post what we're doing in there.

Here is my game plan.... I will be completing, numbers 1 (for my 6 yo), 2, 5, 6 (for my 2 yo), and 9 (when we study Christmas in Japan next week).

Need to see which other ones I can complete...

How are the projects coming, Shannon and Erin? I'm thinking of hosting an afternoon with my mom, sisters, daughter and daughter in law to bake Christmas goodies together and use our family recipes and have lunch together. If I get my act together before that, I'm hoping to have aprons made for each of them...that would take care of my Apron badges and the last of my Farm Kitchen badge.

Nice! Hoping to get the fair Farmgirl done next week after out if town guests leave. Having to go out of town sort of threw me off everything, and December is so busy... I'm gonna try my best!

To earn the beginner Unprocessed Kitchen I made baked french fries with potatoes from our garden last week. I don't know why I hadn't thought of it before. It was easy and the kids loved them. For some I added some dried onion flakes and garlic for my husband and I to enjoy.

That sounds amazing Emily. This Irish girl loves potatoes in any form!

I finally made my Chapstick! I'll post a pic under the other thread, along with a link to the recipe I used. I haven't applied for the badge yet. Our computer hasn't been charging, so I'm doing everything on the iPad. I don't know why but I just find it so annoying. I'm used to my computer. Everything takes longer on the iPad. Ah well... First world problems I guess. I should just be happy I have one.

Just joined the Wildflowers and have put in for some merit badges, that I've been waiting to file for some time. Just wondered what everyone is working on right now. From previous posts sounded like lots of work was planned towards Christmas. Is there a New Year group project or is everyone just working on their own projects. Looking at the list trying to decide. What's everyone working on?

I just started putting in for badges too Joan. I haven't heard anything on any of them yet. Right now I am working on the beginner level on knitting. Applied for the first level in backyard farmer and sew wonderful. One more but at the moment I can't remember what it was for.

I've got several I've got to apply for but I was putting it off until after the holidays. I know I've got my 3 knitting badges to apply for. I need to get my notebook out and get those checked off!

I need to print off some of the badge information to keep handy so I can keep track of what I'm doing. The other ones I put in for were the recycle badge

Denise...I printed everything off and put it into a 3 ring binder. It also has a check off sheet with each badge listed and what day you start, finish, apply for, etc. It's super easy to keep everything organized that way! I keep my chapter information in there, too. I haven't had time to look at mine since before Thanksgiving...I'm hoping to get back to it in the next week or so.

Ok girls, I'm making a goal for myself for this weekend. If you'd like to join me you can. I'm going to apply for the badges I keep putting off that I've already completed on Saturday. That is my plan. It just works out that this weekend we don't have much going on so I should be able to get this done. There are at least four I can think of right away that I need to apply for, but possibly more. I have the checklist printed off but not the requirements for everything. Just the ones I have worked on or I was planning to work on.

So that's my plan. Saturday badge day. Anyone care to join me?

Erin, I am going to join you! But I just got this wild hair to work on my Disconnect to Reconnect badge and decided to shut everything OFF as soon as I send this post! hahaha! I decided that this weekend would be a GREAT time for a break! I am going to work in my Maryjane binder and get everything ready to apply for next Monday....I'll get my pictures together and my applications written out so I'll just type them online then. Maybe Brian in the office should have a heads up to get ready for a bunch of merit badge applications! hahaha

Well Debbie, you won't get this until Monday if all goes according to plan, but the disconnect to reconnect badge is one of my favorites ever! Sometimes I'll just take a weekend and do it again. It's just so soul cleansing to be free from electronics and screens for a good chunk of time. I hope you enjoy it.

I'm about to grab my binder and see what I can get done today. My goal is at least five... We'll see :)

Well I applied for three badges yesterday before life got in the way. My Fair Farmgirl ( yes, this should have been done back in November), Know Your Roots, and Get it Together. Today I'm going to try to get at least two more done after church.

I am going from Going Green Badge - Beginner.

Over the past 3 months (it's helped that we've moved across the country, so I got rid of all non-green cleaners before moving!) I've used up everything that is not green (I was too thrifty to throw it away - lol!) and now am officially a completely green house :) :)

My mission statement: To be a completely green household for the health and future of my family!!

From my journal:

1. I'm excited to have a super cute compost bucket (think 50's) that I can use every day. It even looks cute on the counter! I'm also very excited to be planning for pigs in the spring so we can give every single scrap to them! Right now we have chickens - but as they don't care for onions and potatoes, among other things, it's nice to know I can use it for the piggies soon.
2. I'm gathering recipes for homemade dishwasher and laundry detergent (think intermediate badge!). I tried out baking soda and vinegar...but it left a residue on my glasses. It cleaned really good though. Now for adding something to help with residue.
3. I'm so so so excited to find a LOCAL product (well...local before we moved to PEI!) that is available Canada wide (don't know if it's USA?) called Nellie's - 100% natural powders for laundry and dishwasher. They truly are fabulous - and the best thing is that I can pronounce and KNOW what each ingredient is!!
4. I'm looking forward to being creative with wrapping paper this year...:) I'm hoping to use material scraps cut into squares etc. to be creative, for the most part, and whenever possible. FUN!
