Not sure what you mean by "using your sewing machine to embroider". Are you referring to various stitches that are included with the machine? Many sewing machine models come with a selection of decorative stitches.

I tend to use my embroidery module to embroider (it attaches to my Bernina). Not really a big fan of machine embroidery. I just tend to use my digitizing software to design labels for my quilts and have my embroidery module do the stitching. ;o)

I have used my machine a little bit but not enough to know anything.

I like to hand embroidery when I do do it.

Have never done that myself. But I've had basic machines.
Used to hand embroidery but I haven't done that in a long time! Would like to take it up again!

Blessings,
Linda

OK I din't say why I asked this question, but here it is: My thought was the first to answer yes to my question would get something from me, yes, a secret giveaway. Recently I won a package of sewing machine needles made by Schmetz. When I tried to win these needles I did not realize that they were not for hand sewing! I can't use these needles so I thought I would pass them on to a scattered prarie chick friend of mine. They are in a nice tin box and all.

Anyway RAIN was the first to reply yes; so off they will go to her. Rain, give me to at least next Tues. to mail them out to you as I am canning away for the next few days and congratulations!

Thank you!!! I am in need of some new needles, Sue, mostly because I have been working on a wall piece that is a tide pool and has lots of handmade paper in it...snap! Broke another one. Like that over and over lately.

Darlene, some of my machine embroidery is on Tangie Baxter's blog...(www.tangiebaxter.com/blog) under features, "Art Travels with Rain". I just posted Lesson 3 that has examples of "thread painting" on a machine with lots of photos. I do a blog feature for Tangie every Wednesday, mostly for art journal/bookmakers/mixed media artists.

And Sue, right now I am a food preserving maniac...so whenever it is convenient. This has been the oddest gardening season, tomatoes SO late getting ripe, and lots of others early, all crashing into last week and this week. But I know I will so enjoy it all come winter!
hugs to all,
Rain
