Well, DH and I have been busy cleaning and clearing up around our property, aka Lazy Acres Ranch...
Pruning, trimming, weeding, composting,, turning off watering stations, blowing out water lines etc... and not a day to soon.. because this morning we got,,, a few minutes of light snow... but then the sun came out.. so... that was nice.
The down side is this cold damp weather flares up my arthritis in my hand and hip...
Thank goodness, last night there was plenty of left overs in the fridge to rummage through, heat & eat...
As for tonight,, not sure what I am going to throw together for dinner.. lol!
So are you all ready for Winter???

Grace, WOW snow flurries?? We just had out 3rd thunderstorm shower a few minutes ago for today! Hot/Humid and rain. I am so jealous that you have had snow flurries and can wear that thing they call a sweater! I am , however, sorry that it makes your arthritis flare up because that is no fun and it limits doing certain things. We rummaged tonight in the fridge for dinner too. Gotta love those left overs when you are sick of cooking dinner!

No snow in SoCal, but we have been busy cleaning up our garden which means clearing out the rest of the vegetable plants, trimming bushes and trees, packing up pots and plant supports, and turning the compost one more time. The good news about finishing up garden chores is more time for quilting. Stay warm and healthy all!

No snow here in Texas - mid 80's and dry as a bone. All outside work done except for wrapping 2 outside water pipes; when more leaves fall I'll mulch around garlic that is almost 4" now; and move little bay tree inside. All container roses and herbs on deck will be naturally mulched by falling leaves, as will rosemary along sidewalk to front porch.

Still getting nice temps here. Low 70's so just right for getting outside stuff done. Been cleaning out and getting things cleaned up.

I'm thinking and hoping that yesterday was our last 90 degree day. I started the yard cleanup cautiously as my back is still in bad shape but the work just has to be done. I pulled up about a hundred silk tree seedlings and started on the oxalis. Lots to do but if the weather is kind maybe it will all get done. I have to prepare a spot on the patio for the orchids and get some lights for them for frosty nights. DH will take care of the leaves in the gutters -- thank heavens I don't have to do that anymore. I always wondered how worms got up in the gutters. I finally read that worm eggs are so light they blow in the wind.

Worm eggs... ewe!

Well,, DH had 1 last burn pile to do,, and started this morning.. had no choice..

don't panic.. that tall pile behind the fire is a mountain of dirt/earth... for next years use...
and now... DH is inside, wolfing down left over chicken and smashed taters and hot cocoa..
And it still is snowing outside..

Hi Grace, we had snow flurries last weekend too! Our Mt. Hood and cascades are now appearing white, its so early! I'm not quite ready, but, there seems to be no arguing with mother nature! So, I guess I will be ready when the time comes! Happy
Fall-inter!?

Well, it's always gets messier before it gets cleaner around here. We emptied our shed, brought the furniture we are keeping in but it needs some fixing up. We got it all cleaned up. Have to decide what we are keeping and what we will let go. There is still some in the garage that needs cleaned and fixed up. I have a beautiful Formica top table . You know the ones from the 50s? Well the chrome needs done and the chairs need repaired. The sad thing is I really don't have any space for it. So I won't end up keeping it.

We spent last weekend doing all that same stuff because we had a freeze coming in. I’m so glad we got it done because it got super cold. This weekend we will be getting back into the 60s and have plans to get back out there and start building our calf pin. Hopefully we can get it finished before the next freeze comes.

Early this morning it was 55 degrees along the coast of Southern California, which means it is time to fire up the heater. Being it has been a good six or seven months since it last ran we have to do a little prep. We open all the windows and doors, vacuumed out our heater and area around it (as best we can), and run the heater to burning off all the dust. The place stinks for about a hour but we are now ready for the cold.
