I was just wondering what everyone collects or keeps. Its nice to know when we want to send out a little gift or trade.
I would also like to know if someone has a list of farm girl addresses? I used to have one, but it was lost when Richard cleaned the filing cabinet. But I kept Richard anyway.

Nancy Jo, I have collected cream trimmed in green enamelware for forty years. I never tire of it and occasionally I still find a piece I don't have so I add to my collection. I do have a few pieces trimmed in red or orange.

I also collect vintage cookbooks; vintage kitchenware; aprons; sunbonnets; buckets & baskets. If it's old and rusty I will probably love it.

I love Vintage! I collect Kitchen, Halloween Party invites I have some form 1927!, Christmas, Dance cards, mostly from the 1940's and Barbie, Depression glass and Advertising. A lot of my collections were passed down to me from my Granny and Great Aunt Mattie who owned a Grocery Store in the 1940's to the 1980's. Here is a few pics of some of it.

GRRR! I had this all written and lost it. Here goes, again.

I collect sewing machines - 28 at last count; over half are vintage. The vintage are 4 treadle machines, 3 hand crank, 1 boat anchor, 2 Singer 128s, 2 Singer 221 Featherweights, 2 Singer 301s, 1 Singer 401, a Singer pinker, and 2 child machines. The other 10 are 1960s and newer. I really need to sell some because I am running out of room for them. I also collect quilts - some I make and some vintage quilts I find in antique stores and at estate sales. Again, I am running out of space to keep them. I keep 4 or 5 on the guest bed on top of each other.

I used to collect cat items and have 2 totes full of them. I also have 2 totes of smaller cat items - enough to fill an entire 8-foot Christmas tree with some left over.

I also love vintage kitchen items - tey go well in my 1902 farmhouse kitchen.

What do I collect---so much that I am no longer much of a collector---I love old red and white enamelware and red wooden handled kitchen utensils---these I have at my cabin kitchen along with other old collectibles. nothing of great value as I was always poor and will die so. I love rabbit things and ballerinas---they decorate my bathroom. I collect pink depression glass and old dishes with pink roses. I collect 1940's dog figurines and old books. I like old umbrellas and antique toys . I collect old canning jars and actually still use them---most from the 1940's. I love angel things and anything with roses. And the list goes on ladies. I am not a hoarder just like these things and only have so many. Have about quit buying unless it is very, very special. Pop over to my hating winter reasons and see what happened to me. I could use a little comfort---but I am a tough old bird in these latter years---LOL.

I think it would be easier for me to list what I don't collect too! I love books, and I can never have enough of them. Fabric, yarn, paper, and all kinds of craft supplies. I am a history buff so anything old. I love vintage linens, vintage-old anything. I collect Lamax village pieces, Teddy Bears, pretty much anything that I see and like. As far as addresses go, let me know if you are looking for a special one. I have saved every envelope and card that every farmgirl has sent me. They mean the world to me. I am actually going to have to get a bigger box because the box I started putting the cards and envelopes in, is getting way too full.

hugs,

Marcy

The only thing that I really collect are angels.

And, Nancy Jo, I don't have a list I can send you of names and addresses, but I have a lot and if you email me for any particular ones I'd be happy to email them back to you.

I love anything old and well used. Some of my favoirites are kitchen utensils with red or green handles, vintage apple designs on pieces, red enamelware, transferware dishes from England, old wooden bowls, old canning jars with metal lids, and anything handmade like rag rugs, baskets, and primitive furniture. Like Grace said, if it is old, well used, and in the give away pile, I am interested!! LOL!! However, I don't have many large collections of anything. Rather, I seem to have some seasonal items. What is now becoming vintage are the few things I have from my childhood! LOL!!! Yep, I am officially greater than 50 years and qualify as vintage !!

Ever since I moved to Kentucky I've been collecting KY souvenir plates. I also collect dachshund figurines and stuffed dachshunds. Pottery (Bybee, Corning Ware, Polish, McCoy, Fire King, Blue Willow, Homer Laughlin) is also a weakness, but I use it a lot. Plus, I have 2 bags and a box of cookie cutters and 2 spritz machines. And my 6 silver charm bracelets.
Hmm... I didn't realize how much I collect!

I was reading through things that people collect and realized that I don't really collect anything. I am going to have to decide what it is that really intrigues me and start collecting it. I know I love Christmas and snowmen so I could collect snowmen. I love stars and pumpkins. There are a few things I really like so I'm going to be thinking on this. What do some of you others collect?

Lori you can have some of mine! Over the years I have collected many things, stamps, coins, silver-plated butter knives, antique and vintage sewing machines, fabric, covered chicken dishes, orchids, cats (the live kind), books, Pfaltzgraf Yorktown stoneware, etc, etc. As I'm getting older I've been trying to lighten the load as my kids aren't going to want any of it.

Judith - I'm going to be selling a couple vintage sewing machines, if you need a few more to add to your collection.
Lori - I may have some snowmen we could barter for if you decide to start collecting them. LOL!

I am also trying to de-clutter. I know what I had to go through and sell when my parents passed away and I know my son won't want most of this. It is hard letting go of some things. LOL!

Linda -- if you need any more machines let me know! I have 12 treadles, about 30 hand cranks, four featherweights, and half a dozen or so vintage electric machines. Most are in good working order and make a better stitch than most modern plastic machines. I couldn't believe the stuff that no one wanted when my father died last year and we cleaned out the house before it sold. Beautiful furniture, appliances, tools -- most everything went to GoodWill. I took what I could butI have a small house (and too many sewing machines).

I may be a little strange but I collect snow globes and Harry Potter things! My snow globe collection gets bigger and bigger every year and then I love to wear Harry Potter shirts and socks. Plus I collect Harry Potter books and items. I'm kind of a nerd lol. I guess you could also say I collect yarn. I'm always buying new yarn to make new projects!

Judith - No, thank you, I don't need any more machines. Just sold another treadle today, so now am down to 2 of them. Have 3 hand cranks, 2 Singer Featherweights, 2 Singer 128s, 2 Singer 301s, 1 Singer 401, a dead Pfaff, a White, a couple older Singers, a Gimbel, etc. LOL! I would like a Singer 222, but don't really need it. LOL! I may fix the older-not-vintage Singers and give to 4-H gals who want to learn to sew.

Krista - I have a box of Harry Potter stuff somewhere that I was going to sell. If you are interested, I can try to locate and send pictures. LOL! I have the banner, the charms that hang from that, pewter ornaments, other ornaments, etc. All are in original boxes.

My husband would say I collect everything and it's cousin. He would be correct. I officially collect creamer and sugar sets, enamelware wash basins and frogs. However, I have a whole room of fabric and craft supplies. I had better include that.

Wow! I can't believe all the collections. How wonderful. I never heard of anyone collecting sewing machines, but that is awesome. I think I am going to go with snowmen, snowflakes, and snow globes. All to do with snow I guess. That must mean I like Christmas the best. He He He. Oh, I also found that I have a lot of buttons so I can add that to the list.

Linda, I would love to barter with you for some snowmen

I don't try to collect anything per se' but definately have a collection of aprons, journals and postcards (both new and vintage). I also have 5 santos, I adore them and find them ever so beautiful! They grace the top of a credenza I have in my formal living room.
