update on my mom,, yesterday was a good day for her... but unfortunately not so much today..
But we got to feed her a few small bits of purred food (like baby food)... she ate several bites but then gave up..
I am praying tomorrow will be a better day..

Grace, this journey that you and your sister are on reminds me of the one I took some 20 years ago.
I got a call at 3 am to come, mother had a stroke. My husband offered to drive me the 30 miles to the hospital. She was stiff as,a board, and they were trying to weigh her!!! Crazy!!! But she ralleyed
and the PA told me to call the family. I did and they came, all except our brother. I asked the PA a stupid question...how long do you think she has? Only God knows! Those were his words. I knew that, but I was looking for earthly advice. They decided on hospice and moved her back into her room in the nursing home, which was connected to the hospital. Again I tried to reach my brother and he came. Then she went to sleep. I tried to feed her with a spoon, as she had once done for me. B u t mostly she slept. I talked to her, sang to her, read Bible verses, etc. Then as I was leaving the nursing home the next Saturday, with my sister, I heard fiddle music...Faded Love. She loved that song. At that point I knew! The next day i returned with fiddle music...her brother playing it. I told her I loved her, she had seen all of us and we would be ok. We would miss her but I knew she had seen Jesus, twice and wanted to go with him. I kissed her sleeping face and drove home. The call came, and back we went.
So treasure each minute, each hour, each day. Old photos...show her, ask who the faces are and write it on the back. Play her favorite music. Be funny, be silly, and laugh, just make the best of the situation.

Thank you so much for your support ...and yes.. I am cherrishing every moment...
I brought her a small squishy bear and a bright halt face balloon...
I am at the hospital... but ducted out to give her brother a bit of quit time...

Hello Ladies,
Thanks for the support Grace, I got my minis in the mail today, they should be there by Friday before 3:00pm. YAY!
Grace, I will continue keeping you and your family in my prayers, its such a hard thing your guys are going through now, but it's wonderful you can be there with her, helping her along for whatever journey is before her. Keep hanging in there, take care of yourself and give your self time, even if its small stolen minutes to find a little peace and recharge. Prayers and love to you. Big hugs to your husband too for helping with the minis

Well Marilyn,, I took your advice and stole a wee bit of time for myself,,, and found a quilting store in the process... walking through the store,,, looking at all the lovely fabrics and patterns,,, was very therapeutic for me... now I am at Starbucks getting caught up on my emails and other computer stuff... heading back to the Hospital at 4pm.
Today was a much better day for my mother... only on the feeder tube at night. Still unable to talk and walk... but it's all about babysteps.
Christine,, Wahoooo! I am so looking forward to seeing all those minis... I told Hubby dearest to send me a photo of them before he sorts them! lol!

Grace, I'm glad you found a quilt shop! My cousin suffered a bad stroke in his early 40s. His right side was damaged...but with a lot of therapy, slowly he got better. He wears a brace on his leg, and his right hand is not too useful but his speech is normal and he was able to get his drivers license after many months of therapy. He even went to Indio area to care for his dad for almost three years, until his dad passed away. He is about 65 now. Baby steps are good!
Have you read to your mom? Sometimes they enjoy your soothing voice. I know my mother would begin to be restless if she was bothered by my voice of my sister's voice.

Grace, forgive me, but I did not include enough postage on my return mailer. I received a 'receipt' in my mailbox where additional postage was added to my mailout. Please let me know what I owe and I will get that to you asap. Next time I will not do the weighing and postage myself. I did not realize that the envelope I used was considered 'a package'!!

Hey farm-sistas... I fly back to Washington this afternoon and I will gather up/sort & get all the minis out in tomorrow's mail..
Thanx for being so patient with me.
my sweet mama is still in the hospital.. still unable to speak...and very limited use of her right extremities. It's going to be a long slow road to rehabilitation ...

Really???!!! I don't remember! I was trying to hurry. And the postal lady tried to seal the apron envelope, without the one she had put stamps on, inside! I was in panic mode!

oh and fyi,, I am so happy to be home ,, well at least for a couple of weeks and then I will be flying back to California again...
I missed my hubby and fur kids and I even missed my home, even tho' it is still in choas' and unpacked boxes everywhere...lol!

I just went into my sewing room to look at all the sweet minis,, and they are sew cute,,, I am thinking I will tack then to a mini clothes line,, and take them back with me when I fly back to California, to visit my mom,, I want to string them up acrodd the wall over her TV.. to make her smile.
I remember watching mom do laundry in the community wash machines, these old machines had the 'rollers' to ring out the excess water.. I recall mom telling me to be very careful around the rollers as they could crush ones fingers...
I want so much to post a pic of all the cute aprons,, but then I would rob you of the fun of opening up your envelopes and handling all your aprons.

I sent each of you a private message,,, hopefully you all got the message,
Linda aka Quiltee had an misshap with the post,, the Post is /has been sending her mini aprons everywhere and back and forth in California, so after making calls to get things straightened out,, the aprons have been tracked down and will now go back to here,,, and she will mail out each apron to you all.
Be sure to post pics of how you are displaying your minis... I luv mine! and I know my mom will enjoy them too!

Hi,,, it's me again :>)
So,, to clarify,,, you all will be receiving 8 minis in your return mail,, and Quiltee will be sending her minis to you each individually so she will be needing your addresses..... her's will equal the 9th mini..
We had 10 signed up but due to illness lost one of our swappers.
Also I need to collect postage from 3 of you,,, I will email you as soon as I find my 'post-it' that I wrote who & how much.. then I will send you a message with the amount...
Again, I thank you all for participating and for how cute the aprons turned out...
As I mentioned in a previous message above,, I will be taking mine back with me when I return to Calif., in 3 weeks to decorate my mothers hospital room.... Thank you all so very much.

Received my minis today! It was nice to get them, the mail came as I was shoveling the driveway for the 4th time in two days.
