All I want to do is sit in my camper! I say "I'll just go in and have a cup of tea/read a bit/knit a half hour...then I look up and I've been in there forever! Having a vintage camper is hazardous to your house...laundry is backing up, etc.!

Anyone else feel like when they step inside their glamper they never want to come out?

Nicole I don't have a vintage camper but I do have my Yellow Rose Cottage. When I'm in there I lose myself in my thoughts and time rolls on by. Enjoy your camper and have another cup of tea.

I don't have a camper either but I imagine if I did I would be the same way! I actually would really enjoy it because I could escape the madness of my home for some time! Mommy's little mini vacation Lol!

Nicole, I am like that. I actually find myself making up reasons to go out there; to clean, reorganize, etc. I love my camper.

I like to do that too! However, I don't get much opportunity right now with so many outside chores to do! Perhaps I can in the winter more . . .I CAN plug in a nice electric heater that makes it nice and cozy! We'll see!
Enjoy it while you can!

Oh Julie your camper is adorable!! Hi CeeJay. How do you winterize your camper? We want to spend time in it in winter. I have a little plug in heater and it works well. I’ve had other people say besides turning off water and draining the lines that I should strip the whole thing, bedding and all. I don’t want to!

Grace I’d love to see pics of yours!

Tonight my dd and I are planning on sitting in it and reading some comic books together. I think it’s cute she likes to do that at her age and that she’s a self proclaimed comic book nerd, lol.

Nicole,
We don't use the water tank in the trailer and there is no bathroom so no water lines to clear. I just take in any food items, anything that will freeze and make sure the windows and vent are closed. I keep the electronic Pestchaser plugged in to keep the mice out. If I go out there I just take my cup of whatever, snack and anything else I want that's not out there with me and plug in the heater for warmth. I don't strip the bed or take stuff out that won't freeze. I removed the propane tanks at the beginning since there is no heater and the little frig doesn't work. There is a two burner stove but we prefer to cook outside when we're glamping and I am not fond of propane . . . too many scary experiences.
We don't have a garage, carport or barn to put it in but when it snows I do go clear the roof and keep it off. I could tarp it but then I wouldn't be able to enjoy it . . . and that's important to me!

CeeJay, do you feel that those pest chasers work? I was thinking about getting one...

They sell them at my local hardware store.

Thanks for all the advice. I don’t want to strip my bed or anything like that, either. Will bring in freezable items. I just bought a retro looking little heater for it, have used the portable one from the house when we got a cold snap.

We might put a tarp but just on top where we can still enjoy the camper.

Nicole,
I believe the PestChaser does work. We use them in the house too. I figure that, even though the trailer is mainly for CAMPING, the season for that is so short and we don't get to use it for that much . . . why not find some ways to enjoy it year round too! Otherwise it just sits there looking lonely! I just wish my daughter lived closer so we could enjoy it more TOGETHER!
Go for it, Nicole!

Hi CeeJay,

Went to my local hardware store and picked one up. They echoed what you said. I am also going to try to dry mint and put pouches of it around.

Thanks for the advice!

Good luck, Nicole! When we had older RVs we had a terrible time with mice getting in! One thing that seemed to help, as long as I kept it up, was putting cotton balls generously dabbed with peppermint essential oil all over the place. The smell interferes with ability of the mice to smell - something they depend on - and they don't like that so they go elsewhere.

One of the nice things about our wee lil trailers is,,, simplicity... no winterizing except keeping it under cover from rain & snow.
I use lavender sachets in drawers and through out my trailer,,, and I place sheets of "Bounce" (dryer sheets) in all the crevices... you can also grate up Irish Spring soap and put the shavings in lil sachet bags and leave on the floor and in cabinets & drawers... rodents for some reason do not like the scent... I even lay dryer sheet over the tires and around the tires.. again the rodents seem to scurry away from the sheets..

Infact it is about time for me to tuck my trailers away for the winter,,, oh sigh!

Hi all, Thanks for all the advice. We bought the rodent chaser and plugged it in. Haven’t seen anything since. I also want to do the mint thing...think dried fresh mint would work too? Anyone try that?

I also will be disconnecting the fridge and bringing in anything that can freeze like the liquid soap. We bought a little heater for it, and when we go in there it is so toasty!
