NOTE: There will be a second mini apron swap in a few weeks. Keep in touch. Check here to unsubscribe from this topic.
Post Changes Preview
Please take a look at the cute aprons from a previous farmgirl mini-apron swap. Read the comments and you will see Grace's collection of mini-aprons. http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?whichpage=0.84&TOPIC_ID=77791#915025 Let me know if you would be interested in doing a mini apron swap. Sign-ups start now. We would like 15-20 people (or 15-20 sets - you can sign up to do 2 sets).
NOTE: The 15-20 is an approximate number - it depends on the number who sign up. If we do not get that many after the 2-week sign-up period, we will go with how many we have. However, we will stop at 20!
The first swap will be for aprons with typical apron fabrics. Then, if there is continued interest, we can do swaps for Patriotic, Halloween, Christmas, and Western styles.
NOTE: There are patterns available for mini-apron ornaments - Simplicity 1957 and Simplicity 2748. There are also free crochet patterns on Pinterest. You can use these or design your own half-aprons.
Sign-ups start now: January 18 Sign-ups end: Noon, Wednesday, February 1 Mail out by: Wednesday, March 1 NOTE: I would like your aprons, postage and return envelope BEFORE March 10 so I can sort them and mail them back out.
Here are the criteria: 1. You will make 15-20 mini aprons (depending on signups). Apron size is approx. 5" wide and 5-6" long depending on style ... not including the ties... ties on each side should be about 6-8"(not incl.waistband) so the aprons can be tied onto a object for display. You might want to add a pocket and tuck a little note inside. You will be getting one of your 20 back. 2. You will send me your set of 15-20 aprons. 3. You will send a Self-addressed, stamped envelope with the same amount of postage as your envelope costs to mail, + $1.00 to cover the cost of mailing your 20 different aprons back to you. The extra dollar will cover possible different trims other aprons may have that would add weight. 4. I will divide up the mini aprons, and mail 15-20 mini aprons back to you.
So - please let me know of your interest. I will list names of those interested and we will go for it!
Let's have some fun with these!

Here are some comments from Grace - she has been in this swap before, and is the one who got me to start this swap. LOL!
I think a 1-2 week sign up time is good enough and then 1 month to make and send the aprons to you along with a pre-addressed and stamped return envelope. She says to use a padded 8x10 manila envelope. The return one can be folded in half and inserted into the main mailer. On the pre-addressed return padded envelopes, put the postage that is on your envelope along with your name and address in BOTH the To and From sections.
Grace says she can cut out and stitch up 15-20 aprons in an afternoon... so if you set aside one day for cutting, another day for stitching, and yet another day for decorating, they should be able to have them in the mail within 30 days.
She suggests you make their aprons w/a pocket and tuck in a tiny note with your name on it so the recipients will know who made the apron. or add a tag on the back with your name.
Let's have fun with this!

Ok...I cute out 7 minis... I sewed up my proto-type mini apron... and pretty pleased with it. so I might sew the other 6 tomorrow...and embellish them on another day.... Oh and I did add a pocket and will be adding pockets to all of them to tuck in a note (my name, date, made for the MJF swap & a hug)
I can certainly cut out more as the number of swappers increases.... just excited to get a few done.

Woohoo! 8 now. Can't wait to get home and make mini aprons. I found my simplicity patterns. It's amazing how much fabric it calls for for one apron. I'm sure I can make more from same amount of fabric. Lol.
When we get closer to signup cutoff date I will ask if anyone might want to make 2 sets.
