Dedicated to those I don't know, but are tied together with through illness. This is my story with Lyme Disease and how I survived and fight it every day and win!

I'd love to do an interview for an upcoming MJF magazine about my illness and my story if anyone is interested or feel free to use this thread in any article about Lyme.

I can't tell you first off how sad it makes me when I hear someone else has found out they have Lyme disease. It is a disease like no other on the planet. Seriously, it doesn't always end your life, but it makes you sometimes wish it had. Unlike, cancer lyme mutates into other forms of bacteria that diguise themselves as your own cells.
Thus, making it next to impossible for any anit-biotic to kill it off.
And, the nightmare is that if you don't get the proper drugs that can kill it in the first one to three months you're stuck with it for life.

You have two options when you are past the three month period, go on the roller coaster with chemicals RX drugs that can put in the hospital on deaths door when the Lyme figures out your trying to get rid of it and shuts down one of your vital organs i.e. heart, lungs etc...

Or, go the route I found that acutally saved my life the homeopathic route. Which, if you have an excellent physician, this natural medicine will never put you in the emergency room. I can proudly say I have one of those in my employ. She has patients come to her from all over the U.S. for care. She is that good.

She figured out what most of the other's won't admit. You have to treat your genetics along with all the other illness to give you a fighting chance to live through most of what hits you.

If you or someone you love is suffering with this illness and would like to know more about what I do to fight it, email me.

Hugs,
Marsha

Marsha,
My DD has Chronic Lyme Disease due to the fact that she was misdiagnosed for almost three years after the tick bite. Since then she has had numerous medical problems. We have been fighting the Doctors and the Insurance Companies for years. I recently bought the Documentary "Under Our Skin" http://www.underourskin.com/index.html
It has put a new fire under me. Go to this sight to see the movie trailer.
I found a Lyme Literate Doctor in SC for her, she got a referral only to find he has retired! One step forward and two steps back. She is getting in to see another one soon and I will be going down to go with her. I will post her horrible story a little later...when I am not at work!

It amazes me whenever I hear how someone lived years with the wrong diagnosis. I nearly died the first year for the same reason. But, I already had a weak immune system and organs. So when they kept doing MRI's with contrast my poor liver failed and I nearly died. So, I can never have any chemical medicine from here on.

I will go to that site and see what it's all about. You can call the National Institute for Lyme Disease in NY and they will give you a list of Lyme Literate Dr.'s in your state. There were only two in FL and I don't have insurance and since I can't take RX drugs they won't see me and can't help me anyway. They have a set protocal and they don't know any different. So that's why I was refered to the homeopathic doctor. And, it is the best thing I've ever done for my health.
When I get something virus, bacteria, cancer the tests show it up fast and what homeopathic medicine to take to get rid of it. I've had allergic reactions to bugs, trees, foods etc. and she tests me and gives me the antidote and I bounce back and keep on going.

No conventional medical doctor can do that. They use you as a test victim and if you react too bad and if not it's just a symptom fixer not a cure for the illness. That's not to say I know there are ones that really do help people, surgeons and such, but I've gotten a whole new view of the medical field and an education to boot.

I've also learned why you don't take an anti-biotic for a virus, it turns it into a bacteria and makes it harder to kill.
I use natural anti-biotics i.e. Olive Leaf Extract, Colodial Silver, Oregeno Oil, etc... to kill the Lyme and any other bacteria I get. Hope I've helped you in some way. I'll be happy to refer you to my doctor if the other route fails her.

The things I have learned so far:
Once the lyme sprirochete has been in your system long enough, it hides in your organs, fluids or brain. It is very smart and will even build barriers around itself only to come back in a flourish months or years later. It can cause numerous health problems that are often diagnosed as other illness'. Many Doctors don't know too much about it or don't want to. They follow the old guidelines set by the AMA in the early 1980's. The guidelines say that 28 days on Doxyciclene is enough and there is no such thing as late or chronic Lyme Disease. The standard Lyme tests look for anti-bodies to the Lyme bacteria and can not be very effective due to each person's immune system differences. Lots of Doctors treating Chronic Lyme patients differently than the AMA guidelines are losing their licenses. Good news is there is new studies mostly done at the Columbia University that prove it is not in the patients head. They are breaking some new ground in the testing and treatment of Chronic Lyme Disease. It is a horrible thing to have...my DD has never been the same since she got it and I attribute all her medical problems to this nasty bacteria. The best thing to do is be informed and insist on testing and treating at an early stage. There are better tests now, go to http://igenex.com/Website/# for information on this. Please keep all the people suffering needlessly in your prayers and the Doctors that are losing their licenses while trying to help. The movie "Under Our Skin" www.underourskin.com sheds light on the whole debacle. I am going to show this documentary at my local co-op pretty soon. I highly recommend it-you can now get it on net-flix or can watch 10 minutes free by doing a google search.

I have the book "Top 10 Cured For Lyme Disease" and found it to be very helpful in knowing which protocals to use.
A friend I met through both of us having Lyme goes to a Md that also uses Natural medicine and has a consultant that is a specialist in Lyme from Russia. She has her ups and downs just like me but has been helped to at least function to take care of her daughter and herself.

I'd love to talk to you and tell you all that is required through natural medicine to keep yourself on an even life. I'll keep her in my prayers as I do for all who are suffering in this world.

Lyme disease is the new epidemic. Not every deer tick has it but certain states have more infected ticks than others. The North East and Mid West states have the highest incidences but it is found all over the US, Canada and Europe. Funny thing about Lyme is that a housewife was the one that got the University of CT looking into why so many children in her neighborhood were diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. This is a common misdiagnosis...which is what they said my daughter had. I have found out that Fibromialgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis and a list of other medical disease's may indeed be from Lyme Disease. I am actually negative for Rheumatoid Arthritis and have actually started feeling better since getting off of all my RA drugs...I am getting tested for Lyme Disease in December! I urge everyone to watch the documentary "Under Our Skin" it even shows cases of Lyme being transmitted to babies during pregnancy. Most of these babies are miscarried or die within weeks after birth or have brain damage. The Lyme spirochete is a lot like Syphilis so they are researching to see if it is also transmitted sexually. Scary Stuff!!!!

It's so sad to hear about all this suffering. I too fell ill, mysteriously, in 2004; and the first thing the doctors did was treat me for Lyme disease. I had tested negative; but they said that often, in the very first stages, you can get a false negative. So I took the antibiotics; but unfortunately for me, it wasn't Lyme disease--or anything else they tested me for (I've never had so many tests in my life).

When after a year I was still sick, a specialist finally rather unhappily had to diagnose Fibromyalgia, having ruled out everything else. I had already come to that conclusion myself, since every time I entered all my symptoms on the internet, either Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome came up.

That was six years ago. To this day I have a very limited life: I had to quit my full time teaching job; I was denied disability (being a professor is a "sedentary" job, so I should just suck it up and keep working the 12-15 hours a day my job required); I moved to be close to family; my husband has to do more to compensate for my illness; and now I have chronic pain as well.

I'm managing. Each day is a challenge, with three kids and a job. No one acknowledges that I'm sick, really, since I don't look it.

So my story is sad, but it's not as sad as the idea of having an illness that COULD HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AND TREATED!! Argh! It just makes me angry that a doctor wouldn't bother to test for Lyme in this day and age. It's not like it's a brand-new illness.

I am so sorry to hear of your difficulties, marjean, and of your DD's illness, FF! marjean, I may email you to get the name of the homeopathic doc you see. I probably could not travel so far for treatment; but usually, if a homeopath is good at treating one illness, they're good at treating others as well. I'm at the end of my rope, and am ready to try anything.

Kathleen, thank you for your kind words and concern for our well being. I see you're new to the forum so welcome! I'll email you her info. She can treat any illness and with great success. I have refered over 50 people to her since they knew of my case locally and how well I'm doing now and the fact that I'm still alive.
I was in a wheelchair for over a year. I could not walk farther than the bed to the bathroom. I still have to use it in places like Walmart. Who doesn't! lol
When I think of how I could walk from one end of Disney World to the other and 2 miles on a trail and now I can get as far as the front and back of our local grocery store and that's it. But, I'm alive and getting stronger every day so that is a blessing.
I also was fighting two infections. One before lyme in my ear and the other from the hospital when they were doing all the testing. We just now have found the right natural anti-biotic to get rid of it and I feel like a new woman. I thank God every day for the little bits of progress and the endurance he has given me.
I'm so blessed with hundreds of friends online and off that I am never alone.

Shannon's Story:
In the early summer of 1995, my daughter, Shannon went on a camping trip with her friends family to Hayward, WI. She came home not feeling well and with a red and pussy belly-button. The doctor did not know what it was maybe some kind of infection. She soon started having fevers and fatigue and then came the leg aches and crying in the night. Her pediatrician ran some tests including Lyme test and all were negative. He sent her to a Rheumatologist who diagnosed Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. This is the clue that triggered my memory. The year before, Shannon had to do a report on a disease that was drawn out of a hat at school. She drew out Lyme Disease. I helped her with the research and report. I remembered that Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis was common mis-diagnosis for Lyme Disease. I asked for another Lyme test and was turned down flat. The Rheumatologist started her on prednisone and sulpha drugs. She was miserable. She was constantly tired and in pain and gained weight on the steroids. Finally, her knee swelled up like a balloon. They drained it with shunts and shot it with cortizone numerous times. My daughter the athlete and star soccer player could no longer do the things she loved. I was adamant about another Lyme test and was called "Dr. Diane" and "crazy" by her Doctor. After over 2 years of this, I finally called the University of WI-Madison and begged for a second opinion. They agreed and had a room full of doctors that saw us and all agreed it was Lyme and her new test showed she was off the chart positive. They put her on 28 days of Doxy and had me follow up with an Infectious Disease Doctor in Janesville. He wanted her on IV anti-biotics but did not put her on them for who knows why? The rest of her years in school were up and down. She was always not feeling well and had various ailments that were all unexplained. One Dr. put her on anti-depressants while she was in High School. Apparently it was depression. I said yes, she is depressed because she is sick and no one will help us! She has gone through bouts of kidney infections, joint pains, headaches and now she has hypo-glycemia and they don't know why. They actually almost did surgery on her for carpal-tunnell until I made her get a second opinion. They did another Lyme test "Western Blot" and it was very high. They decided that she got Lyme Disease again. Put her on Doxy again and she starts to feel better but then wham-something else. It has been 15 years since the tick bit her in the belly button. My heart aches for her, she has never been the same. I am again out on the front lines fighting for her. She has gotten a referral to go outside of the Army Hospital and to a specialist. We are sending all her records on Monday and we shall see. I am going to go with her and the Doctor can call me all the names he wants to. Send some prayers out to my beautiful daughter Shannon.

well farm girls, i have to say i read this thread in bed last night. i am so saddened by this. it is so tragic that this can even happen. i will watch the whole movie. its not available through netflix yet for instant play. both parents of my friend lisa are infected. they just went through the long antibiotics again.

So my question is.... does it cause a human to be chemically sensitive to perfumes, pesticides etc? is this what i am hearing? i know i need the movie for knowledge. marsha you dont go to kingdom hall. so i am wondering is it exposure at hall that can trigger an attack? are the mechanisms and actions the same as mcs? when i hear mcs. chronic fatigue fibro. epstein barr, those folks are also chemically sensitive. they just dont know it yet. it is exremely hard to convince folks that chemicals even small amounts can cause metabolic systems to over run our body. i am going to become more informed on this. i want to see how the metabolic behavior of the bacteria effects the immune system and liver. the porphyria pathway can be activated by the immune system. so this is interesting. i am so sorry anyone has to experiance this at all.
My mom is gone now 6 years. when she was young she sat on a deer head for a photo. when is got up she was covered in ticks. she was never the same again. this was 1957. she never knew why. very sad for all. i so yearn for Jahs paradise here on earth his kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. may you all have a good sat Thanks for the topic marsha.

Sherrye,
Thank you, I think she is beautiful too! There is a lot of stuf on the internet, some of it is misleading. Here is a link to Time For Lyme a newsletter full of information from Columbia University Lyme Research Center. http://www.timeforlyme.org/index.html Click on the tabs on the top of the letter for lots of info and links. There are lots of different ticks, the tiny deer tick is the Lyme carrier. This site should help you and that Documentary is awesome, but expensive to buy. I bought it and when I get it back from my Dr. I will burn some copies if you are interested in one. The standard Lyme test is the Elise, but it is not very accurate. The Western Blot is better. Go to http://igenex.com/Website/# to see more about testing. I hope this helps!

Good Morning My Friends,

Well, Diane I did not realize when you said your daughter went misdiagnosed for three years that it was 15 years ago when it all started. Bless her heart. I know exactly what she is going through. The pain in my legs and trimmers were awful for the first 3 years. I was bitten in my leg.
Since, before lyme I had asthma, hypoglycemia, low blood pressure and migranes along with reflux disease, fibromyalgia. So after lyme all of these went off the chart crazy. I would wind up in the emergency room with my blood sugar so low they'd try to give me I-V glucose and nearly put me in a comma. The thyroid is always affected and your adrenals. So that is why she has the hypoglycemia now. She has to get off all sugar immediately. I couldn't even eat potatoes, carrots, etc. for 3 years without an immediate sugar drop and my head felt like it would explode.
And, yes Sherry, the lyme makes you have chemical sensitivity because of the liver being attacked and like me I already had allergic rhineitis and asthma. And, my nervous system was damaged beyond repair, so bright lights and noise would send me into a seizure like symptom. So that is why I can't go to the Kingdom Hall. The bright lights, volume, tons of happy talking people and perfumes. Then we just rebuilt our hall due to mold here in Florida and all the new construction materials on top of the other is just impossible for me to be there. I cryed when they announced the rebuild and told the elder coordinator that they wouldn't see me for years until all the off gases go away. In a closed in building it takes years to get rid of it all.

Thank goodness for telephone connection, so I'm there with them each meeting via telephone and they always send love and greetings to us that are home bound.
Diane we definelty need to talk and Sherry please have your friends mother call me or email me. There is vital info. that the medicals doctors don't know or do that is a must for us Lyme people.
You have to get a neurotransmitter test and get on natural product to replace what the lyme kills in the brain to even come close to thinking straight again. Blue Cross and Blue Shield lab does the testing and makes all the natural products. And, they work fantastic.
I went from not being able to spell, add and subtract, crying all the time due to depression and aniexty attacks at night all from the brain being out of balance. To happy, no night attacks, no crying all the time, spelling and adding normally again. It takes years to get it back right but it is worth the wait because you do see improvement along the way. And the tests each year show the numbers getting into the normal range instead of excessively low or high.
There phone number for a doctor in your area that uses them is 888-342-7272 www.neuroscienceinc.com

The lyme also attacks your glutithione in the brain that produces what the immune system needs to kill it off. So, I take one of their products that puts back what the lyme took away. Adrenal supports, thyroid support, sleep support all natural and very powerful that works great. I'd ask for a neurologist that uses it in your area and an MD along with her other doctor's that treat the lyme because like I said the other MD's just look at your like you are crazy when you bring in the product and ask them if they do neurotransmitter testing. Been there done that, so I'm speaking from experience.

Thankfully, my homeopathic doctor is a firm believer in the product and the testing. And, I forgot to mention no more migraines in 5 years. I don't take any pain reliever medicine no chemicals pass my lips since the 2005. Yeah! I'm a new woman when it comes to pain and how to get past it. Once you clean out the liver you don't need the pain relievers anymore. I just go to sleep when I get my period with cramps and a hormone headache for an hour and it goes away.

Oh, course I won't lead you to believe the liver won't give you pain while you are detoxing it. It hurt like someone was pouring salt in an open wound for 2 years until I thought I would loose my mind. Then like a switch being turned off it all went away and I've been pain free since.

Wishing you all health and happiness until God's Kingdom brings an end to all this suffering and we live happy healthy lives forever!!!

It seems like we are all becoming more and more forgetful no matter what our age. It is the pressures of life and our imperfect minds being more distracted cause there is always so much going on in our life.

Sherry- Thank you so much I know she will be so surprised when she gets it and it will bring joy to her heart. She is such a sweet person. So full of love and kindness for others.

Diane,
I just wanted to pass along that in that book I suggested it has some really good information about what makes it harder to kill the lyme from diet and vitamins very important for you to read about it.
One of the things we have to limit is Vit.D

Talk to you soon!
Hugs,
Marsha

My daughter got an appointment with a specialist off of the Army base! It is December 16th. I am flying down to go with her. Wish us luck!

Happy to be a "Raggedy Ann" in a Barbie World!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

I sure hope everything goes well for her. By the way does she have a family? Have they been tested as well?

Marsha, she does not have any children. She has four dogs and she is a vet-tech. Sometimes I think animals get better care than humans do. Animals can't talk so the vets have to look harder.

Update on my DD, Shannon's Chronic Lyme Disease. I flew down to SC on December 15th to go with Shannon to a specialist on the 16th. The Doctor is a woman and she is from CT, where Lyme was actually first discovered. Finally, a doctor that did not tell us we are crazy! She started her on an IV anti-biotic the next day. She had a PICC line installed and she has to give herself the IV once a day for 28 days. It is supposed to kill the Lyme bacteria that has hidden in her body. I am praying that it will kill off all the little buggers and she can feel like herself again.

HI Diane,
Glad to hear she has a good doctor now. What kind of anti-biotic is it? My thoughts for myself are would my poor liver be able to take it or not. I feel like it's a hopeless case with me.

I have so many issues with weight and such that it's scary to do anything that would make the lyme start attcking my body and down the weight goes. I just can't afford to loose anymore right now. Once I get back up to 126 then I might try this route.

I'll talk to my doctor. The one good thing is I can always take the anti-biotic to her and she can test it and know if it will be okay for me or not. So, I'm not a guinea pig waiting for an allergic reaction anymore.

Please give your daughter my regards and I'm praying she can get better with this. If it weren't for God's kingdom promise to bring perfect health very soon, I'd be a mess!

For all those with Lyme, Fibro, or Chronic Fatigue, please read!!!!!
Check out my blog for new information for those with Lyme, Fibro or Chronic fatigue. If you want to get rid of your body pain then you need to look into the Neuroscience products as well at www.ovitaminpro.com and order the test kit first. There products have the ingredient Lyme and other suffers need to get the body tissues healed.
If you call the company ask for Mary and tell her I refered you. I've been ordering my product from them for over a year now. They have the cheapest prices around.

Okay, this is a big deal for me with my Lyme being an auto-immune type illness and reacts to everything that happens to me.

I'm scheduled for oral surgery April 1st! My doctor tested for what anestetic I can have and I hope to goodness the lyme knows it's okay. lol I can't have any reactions and start shaking like a leaf while the doctor is trying to operate on my mouth for goodness sake!!!

That is why I'm focusing on others right now more than ever to keep my mind off myself. See my post about collecting donations for the victim's in Japan and I'm making hats for another farmgirl sending to Mongolia for babies.

My thyroid is hyper and it is effecting my heart and my absortion is in the toilet. Not to mention I have cancer in my blood this time. Can it get any worse??!!!

I'm trying to stay in my happy place and this is one of them. So, please send me your funny stories and humorous things that happen around you house with animals and such!!!! I really need it.

Love ya all,
Marsha
