Sharon your doll and dress are so cute, thank you for the encouraging words about opening an Etsy shop,I'm going to give that a shot soon,I have a few of the chicken pincushions sewed up so I think I'm going to list those and a few doilies and see what happens.
Grace, thank you for your compliments on my cherry doily,I've got about five more branch clusters to do and then I can get them all sewn on and done,it's turning out cute,I think I'm going to make another one of the same soon.
Ceejay,I'm so glad your market went well,I think your aprons and your set-up are so nice from the pictures I've seen and I can imagine the ladies hovering at your stand,I would be!
I took a little break from the doily to work with my Daughter Raven on assembling some nine patch blocks, she's starting her own quilt project,it's been off and on for her but I'm not pushing it,I just help her when she gets into the mood to sew,my dang machine keeps having troubles with the bobbin thread getting tangled,it's frustrating all the start and stop and I don't want it to discourage her from sewing, she's doing such a good job on these quilt blocks.
I'm now about thirty weeks along into this pregnancy, getting uncomfortably big and so it seems all I do is sit on my butt and sew or crochet with the occsional break to cook,do dishes or laundry,I think though that if I didn't have my crafts I would come unraveled very quickly!

Cutting out aprons for the next market which won't be until September 8th as I'm gone for the next two Saturdays. Over Labor Day weekend I'm going glamping with my daughter . . .
. . . and I already made the big "Glamping Farmgirls" sign for out glampsite but I wanted to do little ones with our Sisterhood numbers on them. So, I did those today. Used little enamelware trays with strawberries on one side, which you can still see, attached baling wire for hanger/handles . . now we're set!
CJ

P.S. They are displayed on the seat of an old corn planter that was on our farm and now graces my yard . . one of my favorite farm treasures!

Sharon...my sister had a Chatty Cathy doll. And she loved that doll!!!
I adore that crisp little dress you made for her. So smart and summery.
She looks like she is already to go to
Market and check out one of CJ's beautiful Aprons. LOL

Today I demonstrated knitting/spinning at local Metropark. I was working on a tote bag with knitted sheep designs. I had several people ask to buy it when it is done. I had no intentions of selling this since I work full time and things that I make by hand could never be purchased at my hourly rate! Things I make I either keep or give as gifts.

For example, a woman wanted to buy my handknitted socks that took me about 40 hours to knit. I explained that they weren't for sale, they were for demonstration purpose only, and I'd already worn them! and she had a meltdown. So then she wanted the totebag because it had a sheep graphic on it. I've spent about 6 hours on the tote bag already while demonstrating knitting, and that doesn't take into account the cost of the materials.

She wanted to know the price, but the stupid thing is not even done yet! I was thinking of adding a faux-leather bottom on the bag to reinforce it, but now my artistic judgement is going to be thinking "commercially"!!!!!! I have no idea how to price it!

Thanks, I just wanted to vent, you guys are so good!

I was inspired by Terri's (artful sister) beautiful prayer flags she posted about a while ago. I wanted to share this because it's actually become something special that my mom and I have been working on together.....she is working on one for her and I am working on one for myself. I have been going over to her house one day a week for the past several weeks for the specific purpose of working on our prayer flags. I've just really enjoyed our time together. I love seeing all of the projects you girls create because they inspire me. I just wanted to share what special things your crafty ideas can lead to!

These are the two flags I have done so far. Going to mom's this week to work on the third......

Emily...soooooooo pretty!!! Now why are they called Prayer Flags????
You will have to show us the third one when you get it done.
That is also cool that you have had special time with your mom. I
love to see women sharing and passing down their crafting skills.

Thank you, Peggy! I'll post a link to Terri's post. You make flags for things you want to pray about, string them together, and then (I like what Terri said here) "The idea is just to put your prayer or affirmation on your flag, and then let it blow in the breeze so the prayer can travel on the wind." I know God hears your prayers no matter where you say them, but I just loved the thought of them blowing on the breeze. Plus, Terri's just turned out beautifully!

Peggy, how have you been? I haven't had contact with you since that postcard swap. I know you moved but not sure where. Hope everything is well with you!

Hope this link works.....if not just do a search on here for prayer flag.

Emily they are beautiful,I love them both but think the one with the little bluebird embroidery is especially dear, makes me think of my Aunt Joy in Missouri who loves bluebirds!
I love crafting with my Mom too,she taught me how to crochet and quilt and I will always treasure that time we had together.
Brenda your spinning sounds amazing, what a great compliment that people are vying to purchase your work but you're right,it is so hard to put a price on something that takes so much time and skill to do,I am considering selling some of my Irish crochet works but it's so hard to put a price on handwork because it's so time consuming,I'm not sure we could ever really be fully compensated for the time we put into it but it would sure be nice to bring in a little "egg money" doing something we love so it's a connundrum and I've been contemplating on it a good deal lately, trying to get the right perspective and put the right price on things.
It's funny that I can break and sell a horse and have no trouble putting a price on that but I can't price a little pansy doily for someone who might want it,I'm just slow I guess :)
Ceejay your signs are cute,I hope you have a great Glamping weekend!

Today it's attaching a LOT of lace to our tent so we're ready for our Glamping trip this coming weekend. It's not permanently attached as we didn't want it to get smooshed and grubby when packing away and it probably will make it impossible to get the tent and the fly back in the bag anyway . . VERY TIGHT fit! And, when hubby and I go camping I won't attach the lace . . :)

But, first I had to put the tent up and I purposely did it by myself so that I CAN . . . in the event I have to put it up by myself. It went very well and I used a LOT of Velcro dots for my lace attaching project.

Nope I can't show you pics right now . . . it'll be later this week before I'll post any pics. But I think it went well, looks good and now I'm grubby myself!.

I can post this pic from July 4th glamping trip. We used curtain valances and matching swags under the edge of the rain fly to decorate the front/top edge. But what I was working on today was the BACK and SIDES of the fly and the INSIDE of the tent and the FRONT of the tent inside at the back of the screened porch. What we girls won't do to "glam-girli-fy" things up, huh??

Emily...thank you so much for the link to Terri's Flags. They are so beautiful...both yours and hers.
Lovely and Sweet. ~ My move went fine, thanks for asking. You know how they say everything happens in
threes...well that proved so for me. While I was in the middle of packing, my one year old granddaughter came down with Kawasaki Disease/a rare cardiovascular disease. So, I was going back and forth from here to Seattle trying to help her parents on top of packing to move. There is a 10 day window with Kawasaki
where if they are treated in that window...they will be cured of the disease. Her mommy and daddy had her in to the Childrens hospital in Seattle by day 8. She had her treatment...remained in the Hospital for observation for a week, then had a 6 week follow-up period. At the end of that time she was deemed
cured and doing great. Praise The Lord! Then I got home finished my packing and right into the move
itself, my little sister died. She lived in Spokane as does my mother. Her death was not unexpected just
untimely. She had been bed ridden for 4 years. She was only 57. The sad thing to me was, that my brother
had died at age 57 also (only five years earlier). Very Strange. So, with all that happening it was all
a bit insane. I miss my little sister like crazy...as we were best friends and talked every day on the phone. My dad passed 11 years ago. So now it is just mom and I left in My Family and one Auntie.
But I am glad to know that my loved ones are all in the presence of Jesus and no longer suffering.

CJ...love all the lace girl...Very Fancy Glamping to you!!!! Have fun!

Love and Hugs,
peggy

Well Peggy
You have gone through quite a bit lately and are still being strong. God is right their with you giving you the strength you need to deal with all that is happening to you and your family. I am glad your granddaughter is cured of that disease. Is it something that hits little ones. I have only heard of it a few times. Do they know what causes it? My prayers and condolences go out to you and your mom and Aunt on the passing of your sister. Take care and know that God has his loving arms around you all at this very moment.
Take care and God bless
love
darlene

Darlene...thank you so much! Kawasaki disease started in Japan (thus the name) next showed up in Hawaii
(my son's family went there for Vacation this year) and has also shown up in the Pacific Northwest and maybe a few more isolated places in the states. They are not sure what causes it but it affects children from 0-5 years. It is considered an Infectious Disease...but my four year Granddaughter did not get it from her little sister. Which seemed odd to me...though I am thankful she didn't. It attacks and shuts
down the entire cardiovascular system if not treated in that 10 day window. Naomi had 3 teams of Drs. caring for her. Cardiac Specialists, Infectious Disease Specialist and Neuro Specialists. At the moment she pretty much hates all Drs. She was very traumatised by the whole thing. We are promised that
she will soon forget that trauma and not be able to recall it.

My mom and I do feel the arms of the Lord encircling us. We are strong only because of His strength.
My mom and sister were not close... but still she was her daughter and so the pain is still great. No parent should have to bury their children. I think that must be the hardest death to recover from.

blessings,
peggy

I'm jumping in after being away from the boards for quite awhile. I'm working on a knitted baby sweater for a new girl child in our church. My mom has made hundreds of this pattern over the years, and I finally learned how to knit well enough to tackle it. :-) I'll post a picture when I'm done.

My project today is painted wallpaper. :) Beautiful wallpaper is crazier more expensive than I want to pay and I found a great tute on how to make my own. I painted the wall and now I'm painting the design. Getting a lot of grumpies at me from friends seeing it. But I'm in love and the funky color and design definitely shows my personality. :)

Finally finished my first small afghan for the Farmer's Market and Store.

I also finished up 3 dishcloths for an order, and have 3 more to make.

I am also finishing up decorating an inexpensive photo album. It's going to hold notes that my 10 year old has been writing me over the years. The front is decoupaged with scrap paper.

And of course, I am very busy preserving and stocking up for the winter and spring.

Hey Penny...so glad to see your name pop up on one of the forums. We miss you girl!!!
Nice Blankets and Booties. Big Hugs to You!

Kristina...I love your dishcloths...especially the flowered ones. Would you mind sharing
your pattern???? Just email me if you would. I think your keepsake book of your daughters
notes to you will be a treasure for years to come. Great Idea. I did something similar for
my youngest son. All my boys use to write me cute little notes...but the youngest also did
"Pew Art"...which is exactly what it sounds like. He would do these fabulous little doodles
while listening to sermons and they were always religious in nature. I saved them all...and
then when he graduated HS...we made a Special Scrapbook for him, with letters and well wishes
from family and friends, Graduation Cards and Pics of His friends and all his notes to us
and his "Pew Art". It turned out really cool and something he can look back on for years to come.

blessings,
peggy

Oh, you girls who can crochet and knit!!! What BEE-YOU-TEE-FUL things you do!!! Me, I don't know how to . . . yet!

Yesterday is was make aprons . . .what's new, huh?? A customer came by and bought two I had just finished. Virtually "hot off the sewing machine", and one of my Linens & Lace Collage aprons.

Today I have been packing and loading my car for another "glamping" trip with my daughter this weekend. I leave in the morning to meet her in Flagstaff . . YAY!!! Glamping again! So, it'll be "girl" time for the two us with my poochie, Bramble.

Enjoy your holiday weekend farmgirls!

I love the dishcloths and baby booties and blankets,I need to get working on some baby booties and a bunting for my baby due in just two months now,I'm just so much more savvy at crocheting with thread and I get frustrated with yarn projects even though I love the finished results.
Ceejay I hope you have a great time glamping, sounds like so much fun!
I keep meaning to finish that cherry doily for my Mum but I am still only partway done, making the cherries and leaves then joining them into clusters,I will probably work on it more this evening.
I spent the day dressing out rabbits for one of my friends, teaching her and her kids and another friend of hers how to kill and dress them out for the table,we had ten big rabbits to do and it was hot so all day in the sun skinning,paunching,etc...and eight months pregnant but it was fun to visit and teach them how to do it.
Well,I hope all you ladies had a great day,I love all your projects and enjoy checking in to see what you all are up to!
