Been snowing all day here too Luanne. We have about 5 inches now at 9 pm. It's mostly fine snow...thank goodness. Hubby has to go out at 5:30 am to go to work. I don't envy him at all. He seems use to it, but I
don't like it.
Ya'll must be really busy or gone. So quiet here. I hope yuns are all safe.

Happiest New Year My Dear Porchies...

Some of you are getting snow and some of us are getting rain.
We have had such a dry cold winter that I can hardly complain about the rain even though it makes me hurt.

Teacher Tammy...have you had to go back to work already? I bet that felt like a very fast two week break.
December went by in a whirlwind of activity and I feel like maybe I can sit down and relax for a few minutes now.

Hi Mel...glad that you stopped in to say Happy New Years. It was my very happiest with my son getting married. Loved that they finally did the right thing and got married... as they have lived together for five years and had a child already.
Seems like so many kids put the cart before the horse these days. But now they are happy and the Mama's are happy and everybody is happy. LOL

Heather...no hubby and I got married on Sept 6th 29 yrs ago...but we did plan our Wedding in three days and just loved how it all came together. Ours was very intimate and small too but we had both been married before...so, it was exactly how we wanted it.

Hi Becky...come back and chat awhile!!! Love having you on the Porch!

Luanne...I will seriously take my rain anyday over 9 -10 inches of snow and minus 10 degrees. That is the kind of weather I moved away from...on perpose.

Well Judy...you are getting the white stuff too huh? Glad that you girls like the snow. ~ I just got Christmas all put away for another year and Valentines Decorations up. I decorate for every season and Holiday...I just love to celebrate "Anything and Everything" Makes life more FUN!!!

Cherime...where are you hiding girlfriend? Are you in a Snow Storm too???

Bunny...are you lurking girl? How is your knitting class going? Hope you are enjoying it.

Well, I just got all my Mail Art Notifications out...so, in a few days I hope to get the Tea Swap List out to you girls...and then start working on my Tea Swap Stuff for January.

Thanks for all you gals that signed up and filled in our months. We have all Twelve Months filled up. yahoo!!! More Tea Fun to look forward too.

OK...I'm pooped and going to bed. Tomorrow I will post a Wedding picture or two...not real great ones because they were taken with my cell phone...and I was so busy watching the Wedding and doing the Happy Dance...that I forgot to take pictures. LOL
Glad they had a professional Photographer is all I can say.

Love and Hugs,
Peggy

I sure hope that rather than the porch everyone is sitting by the fire - or woodstove like I am!! It was minus 5 this morning at 6am with the windchill at minus 19! At 11am it has warmed up to 0! This is more like ND weather than Ohio weather. It's supposed to be a high of -5 on Monday with a low of -17. I don't like it much. It makes me not sleep so well worrying about our cows. And it can make for some long days. Yesterday the water lines in the milk parlor froze and busted (even with a heater on them). We usually get done and in the house about 7:30 - 8pm. Last night by the time we got the water line fixed and the heifers watered it was 10pm and Hubby and I were too cold to skip supper! We didn't get to bed until 11:30 then were up at 4:30 to make sure everything was working and the driveway was plowed out for the milkman to get in. It sure was a wonderful feeling this morning though when I walked out the back door. Everything was so crisp. The wind had settled down and the clouds were gone so I could see a sky full of stars. It's the little moments of peace and clarity like that that seem to make all the trouble of the day before worth it. I think it's God's way of telling me to relax that he has everything under control.

I'm glad the wedding went well Peggy. I couldn't imagine getting everything done in 3 days, but I had a bigger wedding. A small intimate ceremony sounds like it would be much more special for the bride and groom.

I'm having trouble getting in the mood to put away my Christmas stuff. The real tree is going to have to go in the next couple days though. It's loosing needles like crazy!!! I might leave the other 2 up for a bit though. We'll see.
Well - stay warm everyone! I need to go do my workout and then go visit with my niece and nephew.

Hi all. I am fighting of a nasty sinus infection. Got sick my last night of the trip and had to drive home the 120 miles ill. Got home and went to bed haven't been up much. But the trip was good and have some great pictures. Check the blog for a piece about the ferry ride. I would love to do it all again without the sick part.
As for snow storms, nope. 30 degrees here and it's shirt sleeve weather no kidding. My GDD and I nearly died of the heat last night. Turned the heater down low. Panting at 70 in the house as I had turned the heat up earlier because of being sick. I hear Fairbanks and NYC have the same temp either yesterday or today, 11 degrees. Pix for you. Waiting to go into the Rail Road tunnel to cross into Whittier. The tunnel was widened to allow vehicle traffic. It is 2.5 miles long into the heart of the mountain.
Whittier towers. Prior to about 1990 everyone in Whittier lived in the towers. They date from the early 1950 or late 1940 I think. Passage Canal into Prince William Sound from the deck of the MV Aurora.
Tomorrow is release day for the next book which splits locale between Anchorage, Copper Basin and Cordova. Later all.

Hi ladies,
it is cold and blustery here. We had snow on New Year's Day and now it is just flat cold. A whooping 6 degrees today. I am enjoying my last few days off. I return to my butterflies on Monday. I am sure it will take us a week to get back to routine and catch up with all that has happened. Lord give me patience.

I am anxious for my bible study to start up again on Tuesday. We are doing Beth Moore's study of John. I am also reading through the chronological bible this year. I have always wanted to read through the word and never felt I could because the readings were so overwhelming. The chronological bible has done a nice job of making it manageable. I have felt like God really laid this on my heart.

My son Heath is going to an arthritis specialist in the next few weeks. he has had no relief from the pain. In fact it is worse. But we discovered that my hubby's brother has a type of arthritis that is genetic and he suggested we investigate further with our son. He is 17 and has pains that someone much older would. I am not stopping until we have found answers. I am a mom on a mission. He is rather down as right now it means no wrestling but that may be something he won't be able to do. Prayers would ceretainly be appreciated.

I have loved having time to read, watch lots of movies, and crochet.
By the way this month is National Hot tea month. Just in case any inquiring minds would like to know. A dear friend and I celebrated it yesterday and just had so much fun.

well ladies I am off to have some tea.
love to you all

Peggy, I couldn't stand rain this time of year. But I'm so use to cold and snow after 58 years of it. I remember as a child, we were having rain for Christmas. I was 8. I was worried and crying. I asked Patsy how santa was ever going to get here without snow. Ya, that was the year that she decided I was old enough to know the truth. To this day she wishes she had never said anything. hahaha You think I was crying before??? I bawled all night. hahaha Watch what you tell those little sisters. hahaha Our bawling will break your heart and make you wish you'd kept your mouth shut! *giggle* Right Patsy?
Heather, even with all of your troubles, you can still see the beauty in your farm. You are a true farm-girl! I could just feel your admiration and see those stars right thru this screen. Thanks for sharing that. I would love to see some pics of your place.
Cherime, as usual, great pics. It's so nice to see other places thru my Porch-Buds eyes. The Towers is a huge place. Amazing.
Well, we got about 8 inches of snow. It was 13 around 5:30 this morning. Don't know what the wind chill was though. Mama's has a Ct. Scan Tuesday, but it's only suppose to be 0 and I don't think an 85 year old should be out in that(not even this 58 y.o.) It's suppose to be -13 the night before. *brrrrrr* Polar bear weather. hahaha
Let me share this giggle with you, then I should go do some housework. Our cat, Rascal, finally had his shining moment and got one over on his dad. Every morning, before work, Dave feeds Rascal, cleans the cat box, then baths and gets ready for work, We use grocery bags to clean the cat box. Dave also packs his lunch and puts it in a grocery bag.(you're ahead of me already aren't you?)I told him that one of these days he was going to take the wrong bag to work. Sure 'nuff, that day was today. I know...I'm still cackling over this one. He threw out his lunch and a brand new magazine he hadn't read yet(and today was trash pick up)...yup...bye-bye. So when he got to work he realized that he had the cat-crap and threw it in a trash can outside of work, saving him a HUGE embarrassment. Imagine if he would have taken it inside and put it in the clinic fridge. hahaha ...then opened it up later. eeewwwwww I said well, we could start Rascals catering. My mom said, I wonder if he would use mustard or hot sauce on those. hahaha ...snicker....snort....it's all just too funny...STILL!!! Dave said, I'm going to starve. All I have is an apple&orange from yesterday and a nasty Danish out of the vending machine. If you saw the size of Dave you'd know, THAT boy ain't gonna starve! hahaha
Ok Buds, may your day go better than my Hubs!...snort-snort....giggle....

Good evening everyone.
I have been busy sewing. I have had almost a sale a day in my Etsy store. I'm pretty amazed. I have had a few repeat customers too. One lady has bought 4 dresses so far. Another has bought 3.

I don't think I could ever get use to the terribly low temperatures some of you ladies live with. I think you are amazing! I'm a California girl.

My baby leaves for Marine boot camp on Monday. Sigh...I know he will do fine. After boot camp he will be training to be an aviation mechanic. I'm very happy about that.

Peggy, so glad you grad baby has a married momma and daddy. They love each other and that is the most important part.

Cherime, wonderful pictures as usual. So sorry you are sick..no fun. What's up with your weather???

Time for dinner...until later.

Eat your hearts out ladies. Its still over 20 degrees here and we had a light snow fall. Nothing major. Wicked grin! I will give you a couple of Prince William Sound pix. Note how nice the ocean was to me. No chop and easy rollers.

Pumping down the honey and cinnamon. The junk has got to go.

Evening ladies! I'm finally starting to feel better although the cough is maddening at times still. I'm resorting to taking various OTC meds again. I decided to try Mucinex and see if that helps.

My DIL finally posted pics from the wedding. Aren't they adorable! Did I mention that he got orders for Japan? They leave in March. What an awesome way to start their married life. Maybe if I'm really blessed I'll be able to save up enough to go visit while they're there.

For those of you that like Christian studies (PeggyAnn & BF Tammy), I saw that Beth Moore has some free books on Kindle and they're highly recommended. I don't do these, just letting anybody that might be interested know. It was a organizational blog that posted the info and I thought they might be studies for organizing which is why I checked them out myself. Free Kindle ones are at the bottom of the page. http://www.amazon.com/Beth-Moore/e/B001IGNYS0/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&linkCode=ur2&qid=1388804858&sr=1-10&tag=aslcocl-20

I see we're all having nasty weather. We're under a blizzard advisory until tomorrow (Saturday) 2pm with wind chill warnings through Tuesday. I was reading gusts of up to 50 mph and wind chill to -60 or lower. Needless to say I went shopping after work and I'm not leaving the house this weekend LOL. I've officially decided I'm becoming a snowbird as soon as we can afford it! I plan on canning various types of dried beans (pinto, great northern, chickpeas, kidney, etc) to keep myself occupied. I can't believe how expensive cans of beans are getting. My goal is to can various things on the weekends to get a stockpile built of soups and various things.

Heather - I wish I had a fireplace although wood would be difficult to get since there aren't a lot of trees here lol. I was the opposite of you, I was having problems getting into the Christmas spirit at all. I think it was because I was sick, it just wasn't feeling it this year. I took down my tree New Year's Day - just wanted everything gone. That's so unlike me too.

Judy - I'm with you. I prefer snow over rain. I don't think I could live in Washington State with all the rain it gets.

Cherime - sorry to hear you're sick. Sinus infections are the worse too. Get well girl!!! I can't believe how many people are sick. I swear most of my office is sick and we just keep pass each other's ickies to each other.

PeggyAnn - What a blessing about your son's marriage. I can imagine you're so happy about it.

I'm off to read a bit before bed and to finish my glass of cream soda. If you love the old fashioned cream soda like when we were younger that was clear-ish (not the red stuff) and like a light vanilla flavor to it, TSC has a brand called Teddy's that is fabulous! I think the bottles are probably about 1L and they're $1. I picked up a bunch of bottles the last time I went for dog food because M* and I both like it. Stay warm everybody!

Peggy, so the knot is finally tied. Best wises to them both.

OK My Porchies here are a few pictures. Like I said these were just cell phone pictures I took...so not the greatest.
I am so happy that my grandson has two parents that truly love each other, finally committed to each other, and love him
dearly. They are both very good parents...and I love watching how much they love him...and how just looking at them makes
Elijah Smile. I didn't get a good picture of the three of them or a good one of just Elijah but he looked so cute in this
Little T-Shirt that looked like a Tux & Bow-Tie and he had a black jacket on with black slacks and little tiny grown up
looking dress shoes. He looked just the spitting image of his daddy. I spent most of the ceremony with my arm around
Sadie's Mother because she was just in tears of happiness. Sadie is her only child. I was just so happy to have them
finally get married that I was doing a Happy Dance and had no tears...even though I thought I might because Shane is my
youngest.

Well, so glad to see so many on the Porch today! I LOVE IT!

Teacher Tammy...I am excited for Bible Study to start again too. It has been over a month since we were together.
I am so sorry to hear about your son...having arthritis at age 17 would not be good. With your Fibro and the other
relatives arthritis...I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he had either one, or the other or both. Men are less
likely to get Fibro than women...but my Brother had it too. I will be praying that is NOT THE CASE however...and
that maybe with his personal growth (maybe he is going to go into a growth spurt) and the wrestling is causing the
joint pain. Keep us posted after you find out...until then I will be praying for him and you.

Bunny...I am so happy that you are doing so well on your dress sales and that you have repeat customers. That is just
awesome. Oh, I am sorry that your one son is going the military route (If it was up to mothers there would be
no wars to worry about)...but I feel better that he is going into Aviation Mechanics. But I don't know many moms that
like seeing their sons go into the service.

Judy...my gosh, I laughed so hard over Dave's lunch. Poor man!!! Maybe you should buy him a lunch pail so he doesn't get
the grocery sacks mixed up in the future. LOL I can tell you were having fun retelling that little episode. Hee Hee!
~ I do agree with you that Mama shouldn't have to go out in such cold temps for a Dr. visit. And either should you. I think
you should cancel that appointment and you both settle in with some Hot Tea and a good book and watch it snow.

PG Tammy...(that cracks me up every time I type that) sounds like you're pregnant Tammy. Beautiful Wedding Picture! A little
Fancier than My Sons...the Bride is stunning and who doesn't like a man in a uniform. Great combination! Nice looking couple.
~ I got Beth Moore's notice on her Free Downloads for the first 10 days of January. The only problem is I have taught them all.
But a great opportunity for anyone who loves her Studies as much as I do. That is such a Generous thing for her to do.

Cherime...your warmer weather is what is keeping us warmer her too. Bunny gets it a bit colder than we do and gets more snow in
The Gorge than we would here...but I really am loving the days that are just cold and dry. We have had a lot of Fog too...where it
doesn't burn off all day long. Just really in the last 10-15 years our climate has really changed here...as I know a lot of you
are experiencing too.

Mel...ok, it took me awhile but I have posted the pictures. LOL

Luanne...stay warm girl!!! I'm with Bunny...I wouldn't trade our weather for what most of you girls are getting for anything. BRRRRR!
I may not be a California Girl like Bunny but I got away from all that snow and really cold weather when I left Spokane about 30
yrs ago.

Well, today...I went with DH while he did his process serves...then I came home and cleaned some more. I am in one of those deep
cleaning and getting rid of "Stuff" moods and I think my husband is worried about me. I usually do this when we are getting
ready to move. LOL I just have to keep ahead of all the junk piling up here and there. He could live like a Horder and not give
a rip...but I have to have cleanliness and order.

OK...off to bed to read for a few minutes...my cleaning gal is coming in the morning at 9:00 and so, I have to be up about 8:00.

More tomorrow...Sweet Dreams My Lovelies,
Peggy

Hi sweet ladies,
I would like to know who ordered the weather here today and in the following few. We are not to be above 0 and windchills could reach -40. That is not my cup of tea at all. I am not even sticking my nose outside.

Peggy I had to chuckle at your cleaning mode. I did that too. We took stuff to good will. Doesn't it feel good to have less. I will let yall know what we find out. our next step is to order a genetics test to see if he has the gene that causes our family's genetic disease. It is a blood test I guess that our doctor can do. My brother in law who has it has been so helpful so we can proceed. But I know I will not rest until I have answers.

I am baking cookies this afternoon as my dear grandson is coming tomorrow on their way home. We didn't get to have Christmas with them so they are stopping tomorrow. I am making monster cookies. His favorite.

well I am going to make some lunch and curl up with a pot of tea and good book,.
love to you all

Hi ladies,

Bunny I see you:)

I am getting one more day off. Because of the extreme cold weather we are having today and tomorrow...there is no school. My butterfly wings are soaring...heheheh
It is to be -35 tomorrow. I am glad we are not getting all those wee ones out and we have so many who travel from out of town. So hopefully by Tuesday we will be out of the cold or least in bearable cold. Today our flagpole is shaking side to side from wind. It is terribly cold. I put on a pot of potato soup.

I hope yall are warm as well.
love to you all
Tammy

Hi Ladies...

Teacher Tammy, Yahoo...that is at least ONE Blessing having that severely cold weather...Madam Butterfly gets to rest her wings for another day. ~ Happy for you!!! Even for those little ornery butterflies...they don't need to be out in that cold either.

Bunny...I will help you kick your computer...I feel your frustration.

Didn't make it to Church this morning. Woke up with a drippy nose. Praying it is allergies and NOT another COLD/Flue thing. I
have already had it and don't want it any more. Enough already!!! Just finished two good reads from the same authors and it
is a true story based on their great-grand parents and aunts. Takes place in the Appalachian Mountains. Book one is called
The Whistling Woman Book Two called Moonfixer. And the way book two ended there is either already a book 3 or it is yet to
be written. These two women who wrote these books are wonderful Story Weavers. I was transporter back in time to The Hearts of
Strong Women during a difficult time in early America. There is also Cherokee Indian Lore weaved into the story and because
I too have Cherokee and Shawnee Indian in my blood...I loved reading that thread woven into the story.

Getting ready to start the book The Great Pearl Heist...chomping at the bit to listen to this. I got it cheaper on Audible than I could get it on my Kindle...so, I will get to knit, walk, and other things while I listen to it.

OK...Tammy that Potato Soup sounds wonderful...I am clueless what I will be fixing for dinner tonight. Maybe Waffles...Maybe not.
I don't really feel too hungry. I just took Snickers out and it is cold here. In the 20's...but that probably sounds like a
heatwave to some of you. LOL

Non of my Football Teams did very Well today...so I think I will go
read. I spent time with the Lord this morning in my new Devotionals...
Whispers of Hope by Beth Moore (a 70 day study on prayer with journaling a daily prayer)...and I have been doing a personal study on The Names of God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit for about 27 years now. It is really a study on the Character/Attributes of God...but I find it so helpful when I pray to know those different names to use. The latest Book I got on this subject matter is called Wonderful Names of our Wonderful Lord by Hurlbert & Horton. My favorite is simply "I AM"...pretty much sums Him up in one powerful Name. So,see I always have Church even when I don't get to go. Church is only a
building where we take our Worship of God to.

More later girlies...
Peggy

Oh my goodness, it is cold here. Yikes! I am keeping the teapot on today.

Peggy I just got done doing that devotional by Beth Moore. I am doing one called Jesus by Darlene Z. Cant think of her last name at the moment. My brain must be frozen today as well.

I am enjoying doing some reading and crocheting and will probably watch a movie this afternoon. Sounds like the thing to do on an extremely cold, cold day.
love to you all

Tammy and Peggy.....thanx for sharing those lovely pics!! Those are two terrific looking couples!!

Cold here too! Not so bad as some of you. We are lucky to be sans snow, ice or rain! The high was 30 today but it was only 15 last evening....was going to go to the Chinese Lantern Ceremony at Fair Park in Dallas with my son but thankfully I spent too much time at the grocery store. It was only 21 degrees at the start time and the temp was dropping fast. He came to pick me up, but said he would take me to the grocery store first to get some groceries (my car has been out of commission since before Thanksgiving!) but I am a crazy shopper so I took too long and by the time we got out of there it had already begun and it would take an hour to get there and find parking and walk to the locale. So decided to go another day when Shelly wasn't sick and could also go!

Well.......everyone stay warm and cuddly!

My best to all,
Mel
