Shanda - beautiful cabin!!! I wish I could have something like that for the pups any myself.

PeggyAnn - I just don't know what to say. I can't imagine the stress and worry you must be going through. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Get well soon girlfriend! I received my teas! It was so exciting to start getting those again.

Speaking of the tea exchange - I got a PO Box so I need my mail sent there instead of to the house. The address to use now is:

Tammy Duletzke
PO Box 1508
Jamestown, ND 58402-1508

Sorry about the change again.

Take care everybody!

Shanda, Wonderful cabin!!!! The envy of alot of us farmgirls!!!!! I am sure by summer's end, you will have a great place there. I love it!!!!!
Peggy, sounds like you have what I had after Thanksgiving. There is so much going around all over the country, seems like there is no end to it. I think alot of it is because of the crazy weather we all have been having. Get lots of rest, tea, honey, and lemon!!!!! Chicken soup for the soul also!!!!
Angela, good luck with your sales. I hope you do well. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your work.
Hope you all have a great evening,

Janet

Hey Porchies!

I'm rushin out in the mornin for Illinios. My cousin is in the hospital with diabetic coma. He didn't even know he was diabetic!

I wanted to post a pic of a necklace I made last night. I showed it to a lady that works at the bead shop I go to and she said it was amazing and said she may order one from me to hang on their display wall!

I'm pretty proud of it! I'm really proud of the fact that it turned out right the very first time! Yea!

Well I'm new to this forum. We've got about 18" of snow here in Downeast Maine. The literal Downeast ...Washington county. Not due to let up until this afternoon. I'm horsesitting so I set up camp at the owners house. She's ok with it as I live 6 miles from here. I'm not literally camping. I'm still in my jammies and watching. All cozied up and working on a baby Afghan for a dear friends new granddaughter.

Peg...sorry to hear about your family. Prayers sent.

Lorie, welcome! Glad you are safe and warm. That storm sounds like a doozy. Tell us a little about yourself.

Cherime, good for you. You just let that river of inspiration flow.

I applied for a permanent real job at the college in the book store. It is only 20 hours a week but I will earn enough to help my mom out after my stepfather passes on. Pray I get the job. My goal is to be "in the system" so when something full time turns up I will have a reputation and hopefully be inline for it. With 20hours I should be able to keep my schedule on track for graduating at the end of next year.

Today is a all day homework day. Later all.
Sorry to say for all of you weathering storms....it is a beautiful day here. Really enjoying the sunshine...kitties like it too.

Bunny,
Working in a college bookstore sounds like a dream job to me but I understand what you are saying about getting your foot in the door. I started my career with city government as a part time clerk typist then moved forward from there.
Best wishes, good luck and God Bless you.
I hope you get it.

I'm married and have a 5 yo son. My dh and I produce Maine wild blueberries, grow hay and he cuts wood in the winter. We are not organic farmers but I am interested in canning, cooking and some of the home arts that seem to be disappearing. I've been on this site for awhile just not on this forum. We live off grid. But my mother Ilawlives not far away. We spend a lot of time there because he needs to work on his equipment. Mother in law is on the grid.

Today Maine is experiencing a blizzard. The snow is fine but drifting. My area has about 18 in. Though other areas have 30 +. I'm plowed out but there's alot of drifting between here and home. So I'm staying one more night to tend horses. Will go home tomorrow.

Hey Porchies!

Cherime...Go Girl Go!

Lorena...Welcome! I watched some of the blizzard coverage on tv. Stay safe and warm. I love blueberries but have managed to kill all 12 bushes I have bought over the years. Enjoy some for me!

Bunny...Prayers for the job! Good luck with the homework. I don't have the patience for it anymore. I prefer to be the one handin it out to the girls!

Well, I spent a very long time at the bead shops and orderin myself silly the last few days! Hubby not only told me to take a rather large amount of the tax money and "Go Crazy" he actually drove me to a new bead shop he had tracked down for me. He helped me find alot of the stuff I needed for some projects I've been wantin to try.

I spent about 6 hours sortin my craftin cabinet and bead boxes to make things usable yesterday. It looks great and I can find stuff now. I know I should have been workin on the house and the laundry, but I figured the craft cabinet and bead boxes are part of the house. The way I see it, they should count toward my bein good and stayin on my chores.

This on the other hand doesn't, but it was fun and I can't wait to wear them out and show them off!

I really love how they turned out!

I'm exhausted and I'm supposed to go to Illinois to see my cousin tomorrow. He woke up and admitted to not takin his heart meds for a few days. That explains why the sugar issue got so bad somewhat. He's supposed to see a diabetic specialist tomorrow to get set up on a med schedule and start workin towards comin home.

It's really late so I'm gonna head on to bed. Good night all!

Happy Sunday!

Peggy Ann, I hope you check in today, getting worried about you. I really hope you are feeling better. To be sick on top of family crisis is not fun!

Welcome Lorena! What a pretty name! I am also a fan of blueberries.

Beautiful jelwery Angela!

Bunny I hope you get that job. My son works on campus in the art dept. and loves it.

Well, I've began remaking the bathroom at my cabin. My daughter and I took down the wallpaper yesterday (wow, that was a job!) We will sand and prep the walls for texturing and replace a few spots of damaged sheetrock. The sink was a custom built job, and it's very low (Great grandma Rachel was very, very short) The counter top only comes to my thighs! But I found an old roll-top desk, which the roll top is broken, and I think it's the perfect size and height to remake for a sink cabinet. I want to add a tile back splash and a framed mirror. The toilet is farely new, but the tub is awful. My Mom and dad are remodeling their bathroom and I'm grabing up fixtures from their tub to fix the plumbing in my tub. I'll have to wait to totally replace the tub, but atleast I can make it work for now. Then with some fresh paint. I think the bath will be lovely! I'll post before and after pics. The back room remodel is on hold till more relatives come and go thru some of these boxes to take what they want. I don't want to throw away things that may be important, but I hope they can get their treasures soon. This remake and clean up is a labor of love, and my daughter and I are doing it together, which is priceless.

I hope everyone has a blessed Sunday!

Shanda

Our berries are not high bush. They grow on "vines " low to the ground. The berries are smaller than high bush but are packed with flavor that can't be beat. If you've bought wymans frozen berries then you've had wild Maine blueberries.

As far as high bush berries are concerned, they like acidic soil like their low bush cousins. Check with your local extension office to find out what diseases are in your area.for high bush. Wild berries are harvested ever other year with the off year a growing year after being "pruned ". Where our berries are grown over several acres (in some cases more than 20 contiguous acres) the fields are burned with tractor drawn burners. Or mown with huge gang like mowers. My dh and I have mowed smaller areas with a riding lawn mower.

Hi Gals!
Peg-Girl, sure hope you are getting your required rest.Come back soon!
Shanda, love that cabin! Glad you are having fun while working on it and sharing the joy with your daughter. Love the roll-top desk/sink idea. That'll look so neat. You sound pretty "Handy-Woman"-ish! hahaha Good for you! I look forward to seeing pics.
Angela, great job on the necklaces.
Lorena, love your pen-name.Love mushrooms and blueberries too. I'm ready to make some blueberry muffins. Got a hankerin' for 'em! *giggle* Gonna look for those Wyman brand ones.
Thanks for the tip! We stay in our jammies a lot around this thread....more than we care to admit(and probably don't)teehee But...isn't that what Winter is for...staying inside, drawing on strength from inside ourselves, healing, just being....and if we add reading, baking and crafting to round it out a little, well then,so be it!We are Restin'&Revvin' up for Spring,Summer and Fall, and all that that emplies...until we find ourselves back at Winter again. *whew* That's all four seasons in one fell swoop! hahaha Man...I bet you'll be digging out for awhile, won't you? I saw the pics in the paper today and some of the snow was up to the parking meters. WOW! That's more snow than I can make snow-cream out of...so that's just too much snow! *giggle* We have 50 here and our little bit of snow won't even melt. Weird huh? Between the ground being so cold and no sun...it can't melt. We are gonna get more snow Monday&Tuesday,so they say.Gonna stay in the 30's all week,so we probably will.
Bunny, praying that you get that job you want! Sorry for all the homework you have to do.Better you than me though! My brain's shot!LOL
Well Girlies, stay warm, dry and safe!
Love Yuns!

I don't get to stay on my jammies all day very often any more. This weekend was a definite treat. Eastern Maine got about 18 in. So. Maine got hit the worst. Over 30 in. in the Portland area. Didn't take long to get dug out. Plows went all day yesterday. Got plowed out twice while I was horsesitting ...once yesterday and clean up today.we Downeasters take this all in stride. The problem with the cities is that there's no place to put the snow and too many trees in the paths of the power lines. If they were cut down and ordinances in place to keep them from being planted too close to the lines there might not be as many problems. I'm not saying cut all the trees down or not planting trees just don't let them grow up through the power lines.

Angela,
Get well wishes to your cousin. You have every right to spend the day "working" on your beading and supplies. Good for you for getting organized.
Your husband definitely sounds like a keeper.

Evening porchies,
Welcome to the new sisters who have joined us.

Peggy I have been praying for you...miss you here on the porch hope you feel better soon

Bunny hope your job comes through and good luck with your homework

It is a blustery day. But did get out as my father in law turned 85. He is still as onry as ever. It was a great afternoon with family. My sons competed in district wrestling yesterday. ONe made it to state and one didn't. it was bittersweet but I am so proud of them both and will be glad after this week the wrestling season is over. Hubby being assistant coach and sons wrestling I see very little of them so this was good season but ready for them to be home more.

well off to have some tea and read a bit.
love to you all

We are really getting blasted here. First we had a couple of hours of rain, then sleet, now it is snowing cats and dogs. I would not be surprised if they cancel schools again tomorrow. What a mess. I am glad I do not have to go out for anything. I am always afraid of falling and pop my hips out.
Hope the rest of you are not having anything like this.
Have a great warm evening,

Good Very Early Morning My Porchies...

FIRST OFF WELCOME TO OUR NEW PORCHIES ...TERRI AND LORENA!!!!
We are so Happy to have you...and I love how you just jumped right on and started sharing...that is Awesome!!!

I am reviving from this awful stuff...finally got out of the house for a few hours this afternoon....DH and I met Shane at Barnes & Noble. Didn't let Sadie come because of her being pregnant non of us wanted her to risk catching our germs. Son came with an entire baggy full of Healthy Teas for me to start drinking. Must have been 6 different kinds plus a diet tea.
He's a good kid! I tried two of them tonight. We shall see.

Shanda...I am so excited for you over your cabin. It is lovely from the outside and the setting is really pretty and tranquil.
Keep posting those pictures as you make changes.
We are all slightly jealous of your new adventure so we get to live vicariously through your make over.
Love the sound of the rolltop desk for your sink/cabinet.

Bunny...thanks for your comments and prayrs. I am also praying about the job for you.

Judi...after being in my jammies for a week...it wasn't so much fun anymore! lol
Boy, we are getting no dramatic weather here on the West Coast and I am really glad about that. Rain seems much better than all the snow/bitter cold/no electricity and tornadoes etc.
We have actually had almost a week of no rain even but as always it's coming back this week. Tempts are really pretty good for this time of year too.

Angela...love the Angel Beaded Set the Best!! Lovely Job on both though.
Glad you have that to keep you busy and enjoying your craft.

Teacher Tammy... Happy for your one son, sad for the other...like you said bitter sweet. And I am sure you are proud of all 3 of your men.
How is your bible study going? And your crocheting?

Hope you have a good week at school and keep those butterflies soaring.

Janet...we need to send you someplace warm girl. You really have had it hard this winter. No popping hips please...stay upright and be careful!

Please continue to keep my family in your prayers. The national news is making it sound like they bottled purex bleach and sold it to people to cure everything under the sun. And then the Social Media gets on the band wagon and villafies them and makes them sound like they deserve to die for their crimes or rot in hell. I just can't read that stuff...it hurts to badly.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.
I have to let my DH borrow my lap top for awhile...so, I will write more tomorrow.

Hugs and Squishies,
peggy

Hey my girlies,

Our weather here just jumps back and forth. Nice one day and then it gets really cold for the next few. Considering what some of you girls are getting I am going to stop complaining. All that snow sounds like a lot of work to me.

Hey Hey and welcome to the two new girls, Terri and Lorena. We have room here on the porch and just love it when new gals drop by and chat with us.

Peggy....I am so sorry for the pain you are going through with the press bad mouthing your kids. There is no pain like hearing your kids getting cut down. My oldest daughter was on the news once due to saying the wrong thing at school and she got expelled. Now my son has now found beer and thinks it is the greatest thing. Only until you get caught and have to pay for the crime. I know this is not as bad as what is happening to your kids, but I can feel your pain.

Bunny....am praying you get the new job. That would help matters out more. Do you have any time to sew here lately?? I just love to see what you come up with because whatever it is, it is always really pretty.

Shanda....Oh my gosh, I just love your cabin. I am just like the rest of the girls and am envious of your good fortune. I know you are having fun with your daughter helping you.

Angela....It just amazes me how people can come up with the different designs that they do. I have wanted to try to work with beads, just not my thing I guess. Keep having fun and you do know that the laundry and house can wait and will until you can get to it.

Gotta go for now, talk to ya all later

Peggy, So deeply grieved by what is happening to your family. It frightens me how this country is changing. The only thing I take any peace from is that I know Who is in control and how He can change things and work things for our good no matter how dismal things seem. Cling to the Everlasting Arms and hide in His refuge.

Bunny, You amaze me. Truly you do. Doing college past the age of 30 is a huge accomplishment. I doubt I could even attempt it. But you are doing it and doing it well. Stick to your guns and make it happen girl. We're all looking forward to the celebration when you graduate. Maybe we can plan a special porch party!

Shanda, I'm so anxious for more pictures of your cabin! Get to work!!!!! LOL. The outside is just adorable and once you do the work inside it will be the coziest, sweetest home ever. What a joy to do the work with your child. Talk about making memories. You too amaze me. I'm tool challenged so the idea of trying to build something makes me shudder. I'm trying to help my son with a simple 4H project. Oh golly, you'd think I was building a house from scratch I'm so lost. :)

A special welcome to the new ladies. This porch is a grand place to visit.

Excuse the mess & the noise, my children are making happy memories
